Pokémon Sword and Shield might be arriving less than a month from now, but that doesn't mean The Pokémon Company has forgotten about Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee! just yet.
If you live in North America and happen to own a copy of Let's Go, you'll be able to download the mighty Mewtwo at your local Best Buy store from 4th - 14th November with the assistance of the Pokémon Pass app for your iPhone or Android device.
From here, you boot up the game, select communicate from the main menu > mystery gifts > get with code/password and then select 'Yes' to save your game and connect to the internet. You then enter your code and watch as your gift arrives in the game.
Are you still playing Let's Go on Switch? Are you in need of an extra Mewtwo? Tell us below.

Damn lost me at Best Buy.
Eh actually not I’ll still get it. The target detective pikachu bonuses were super easy with the pass app, just go in the parking lot, check in and scan a code someone posts on reddit.
Dang it!
I live in Indonesia.
No chance at all to visit USA.
Btw, i still able to get Mewtwo in game by normal way, right ?
@Anti-Matter of course. Why wouldn't you?
@Anti-Matter of course, this is just for an additional Mewtwo.. Twomewtwo as it were.
I’ll take it. More Mewtwos are never a bad thing for me.
*United States
Canada and Mexico can't download pokemon pass
I miss the days where you have to work to catch a Legendary Pokémon. Nowadays you must purchase them.
@RareFan To be fair, in lets go you still can catch mewtwo normally. This is just a bonus.
Definitely will get it. Extra help for the Pokemon league.
Can't download the app since I'm in Canada...
Guess that's not part of North America...
@RareFan It's free. No purchase required.
This would be nice of Pokemon Pass actually worked.
Allegedly this Mewtwo will have a special OT (if Serebii is accurate on this): Giovanni
Alas, it has no armor, but my nostalgia-based squee levels are through the roof right now
So it’s just Mewtwo? Like the one that’s already in the game? It doesn’t come with some extra doodlebop that’s meant to be transferred to sword and shield? It’s not shiny? It’s just the endgame, but early? How is there any point to this?
Should be Mew or Melmetal, a legendary we're guaranteed to be able to catch in game isn't exactly a draw.
Yeah the 3 times I tried to use Pokemon Pass to get the Shiny Pikachu/Eevee from 3 Targets, it never worked, and the employees said it didn't work for anyone else either. Debating if it's even worth bothering to try even if I end up going to GameStop or Best Buy.
You need a phone app now?!
Wow, didn't think it was possible to make a distribution system worse than endless code cards. (and it seems like only USUM actually enforced the expiration dates on the codes?)
Just a random, regular Mewtwo? You know, like the one everyone already gets? Not shiny, no special moves, nothing?
I mean neat... but compared to old events this is pretty amazingly weak.
Back in gen 4 we got shiny versions of the legendary dogs that, when transfered to black and white/gen 5, triggered a special in-game event to capture yet another Pokemon. Over the years events have been shiny Pokemon, or Pokemon with special moves or good stats or related to some real world event, like a movie release or world championship.
By comparison a regular Mewtwo is pretty dull.
@KingMike I legit have no idea why. The 3DS Pokemon titles let you receive distribution Pokemon right from home, right from the game by connecting online and hitting mystery gift during one of the distribution event times. I thought they had moved away from needing to bring a game with you into a specific store during such events.
It would be really exciting if it was the Mew that they have exclusively in the Pokeball Plus...
@KingMike : All physical codes have had expiration dates in my experience. I don't know about the ones that are printed on receipts, however, as none of them have had an expiration date attributed to them, but I would imagine that they too would inevitably expire if they were to remain unused.
@duffmmann : The stupid thing about this is that there is online mystery gift functionality, similar if not virtually identical to what has been available since the DS games, but for whatever reason, Game Freak isn't using their servers as a means to distribute Pokémon on this particular occasion.
@Heavyarms55 : Baffling, eh? They didn't even bother to give Mewtwo one of those useless event moves like "Celebration" or "Hold Hands".
@Silly_G On a side note, Z-Celebrate actually was a competitively viable thing. I believe it gave you like 3 attack boosts.
@duffmmann You didn't need to bring the system with you to the store, just ask the sales person for a card (with a scratch-off code). Then you can take the card home, run the game and type it in.
It wasn't too bad in like the 2016 Mythical Pokemon giveaway when 3 out of the 11 monthly giveaway mon required going to GameStop and asking for a card. I can go ask for a code once every few months, no sweat.
But when seemingly every other week in 2018 The Pokemon Company wanted us in America to go to another store to ask for a code to simply unlock an in-game exclusive from the opposite version (that was very obvious from the cards that's all it was), it got to be like "I don't even really care that much anymore, let me know when something exciting comes".
It's still super ANNOYING when articles like this say, "if you live in North America" when this is clearly a U.S. only promotion. NintendoLife, how many times do I have to tell you. North America has THREE countries in it, the U.S is only 1 of those countries. The Pokemon Pass app doesn't exist in Canada or Mexico, so stop giving us false hope. Your British for crying out loud, Canada is part of the Commonwealth. Liz is Queen of Canada. FFS.
Damn I live in a small town and I can't ever do these. I wish I could have got one
