Ubisoft has today announced that Assassin’s Creed: The Rebel Collection will be hitting the Nintendo Switch on December 6th – and it's a system exclusive.
This pack contains Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag (and all of its DLC) and Assassin’s Creed Rogue – two titles from the history of the franchise that will be playable on the go for the first time. This confirms the rumours kickstarted by a retailer listing earlier this week.
Furthermore, Assassin’s Creed: The Rebel Collection will harness the capabilities of the Switch via HD Rumble, touchscreen controls, an optimized HUD and motion aiming.
Here's some PR detailing exactly what's included:
Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. Players will sail into the Golden Age of Piracy, where pirates have established their own lawless Republic. Playing as Edward Kenway, the most feared pirate captain in the Caribbean, players will take part in world-famous battles, discover hidden treasures, and earn the respect of legendary characters like Blackbeard. The game’s vast open world features countless remote islands where corruption, greed, and cruelty are commonplace.
All single-player DLCs, including Aveline and Freedom Cry. Play as Aveline during a rogue period of self-discovery, unsure of her alliances, but more committed than ever to defending and liberating slaves. In Freedom Cry, former slave Adewale finds freedom as a pirate aboard Edward Kenway's ship. 15 years later, Adewale becomes a trained Assassin to free the slaves and avenge them. Both these DLCs and more will be available in Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.
Assassin’s Creed Rogue. Amidst the chaos of the French and Indian War, players will embrace one man’s slow descent into darkness, forever shaping the future of the American colonies. As Shay Patrick Cormac, they will transform from a loyal member of the Assassin Brotherhood into the ultimate assassin hunter. On a perilous journey through America and the icy cold waters of the North Atlantic, players will take the perspective of a Templar for the first time in franchise history.
Will you be picking this up, or have you already had your fill of these titles elsewhere?

Was this in the Direct? How did I miss it? Maybe when I was bouncing in happiness at one of the other announcements. lol
An exclusive of a collection of games already out on multiple other consoles. Neat
Not really exclusive....
Hopefully they fixed their mistakes from AC3 on Switch. Also I wonder if both games will be in one cart. Probably not.
@SpicyBurrito16 zero chance :3
Ubisoft will continue to release and re-release this series, but won't give Splinter Cell the time of day.
If they market it as a system exclusive it will be somewhat of a joke.
More “not all games on the cart” controversy on the way. Honestly, I would have just bought Black Flag as a separate digital purchase.
It's annnnn ExClUsIvE
I figured this collection was exclusive. The two games are already available on other consoles for a while now.
@Giygas_95
People still care about Splinter Cell ?
@KnightWolf I've seen a lot of people asking for it. Last couple of times Ubisoft did an E3 conference there were a lot of people upset that they passed over it, especially after they brought Michael Ironside back for a role in Ghost Recon Wildlands.
Here's the quote from Virtuous earlier this week coming to fruition.
I'll have to get this. Considering Ubisoft fixed ACIII, I'm sure this should be pretty solid. Why are folks assuming the games aren't all on cart? So far, I think Ubi has put their games all on cart.
Wow, I guess I didn't miss much in the Direct If this is now "3rd party exclusive" news on Switch
Now I am curious on How many old games they actually announce in this thing.
Let me guess...
One game on the cart...one game with a code.
This crap is killing the Switch's reputation, too many scam releases.
@KnightWolf Yeah alot do. People were really looking forward to a new one. The last one didn't sell as good as ubisoft wanted, but I think they also expected way to much because it has never been a best selling game.
I'll get it for Rogue on the go. Still waiting on AC 1 Ubisoft...
Although I will certainly play the DLC for 4.
I played 4 back in the day but never finished it. I hated the ship battles ( if I'm recalling the correct game being 4 that had that). But I might grab this if it's say..... $40
Good thing I hadn't gotten Assassin's Creed 3 yet. Now I'm ready for these, hopefully the Ezio trilogy is next.
black flag is one of the best assassin creed games in the series love sailing around blowing stuff up.
Black Flag is the best game in the series IMO. Played it through three times.
Would consider buying it on sale.
AC4 is my favorite of the series and I never got to play rogue, so this is perfect for me, day 1 Buy for sure!
@Giygas_95 Yeah then they showed that terrible Splinter Cell phone game and that was pretty much just throwing salt in the wound.
It's not really an exclusive if you can buy the games on other systems separately.
@Prof_Yoshtonics That's a thing? Of course it is.
Yeah, I'm getting this
Nintendo [won’t, but] should publish the target framerate in the Directs going forward. What are we gonna get, sub 30 FPS? I’ll only consider if we have a stable 30 minimum. Otherwise, I’ll stick to Steam.
I can’t speak for Rogue, but Black Flag is amazing. A definite must buy for me.
I’m guessing these games won’t include online play.
Is it technically a switch exclusive if all this content is already on PS4 /PC/XB1 lol. It's like "congratulations you're exclusively late to the party, way to go jackass".
anyway it'll be nice to play Black Flag on switch, maybe.... PS4 version was pretty solid and AC3 on Switch hasn't exactly wow'd me.
This is tempting simply because I haven't played Assassin's Creed: Rogue. I wouldn't mind replaying Black Flag, but I played it on the Wii U not too long ago.
I probably won't get this day 1, but maybe sometime down the line.
I didn't get to play the originals so this is a major plus for me and I will definetly be buying it. I also love how the rerelease is a Switch exclusive 👍
Aveline, wow. Wasn't that a previously Sony-exclusive DLC? I'm glad other consoles are getting it.
I played 3 & 4 too recently to care about those switch releases. However the ezio trilogy are three of my fav games ever and I’d love them portable. Hopefully we get em.
@XBontendo "An exclusive of a collection of games already out on multiple other consoles. Neat"
Well, anthologies are often cheaper than buying the collection individually. Which is the case here.
@ncb1397 Given that you can currently buy both from the xbox marketplace for a total of $17 USD this is objectively not true.
@XBontendo
Technically, the cost looks like more than that...

About $28 and Aveline isn't even available on Xbox. You would have to look at the playstation or PC side for that. For playstation, black flag is currently $30 and so is Rogue. On the other hand, you can find them physically on Amazon for ~22 each.
I must wait and see if both are on the cart!
Preordered this since my Gamer’s Club is expiring. If both games aren’t on the cart I’ll probably cancel.
@Giygas_95 It was weird with Splinter Cell mission in Wildlands with no SC news in 2 x E3's after that.
UBI have even said they aren't even working on a new SC, because they don't know how to please people.
I've heard time and again that AC4 is one of the best games in the series, but is AC Rogue good, or is it another sprawling but not quite engaging adventure in the vein of AC3?
@pepsilover2008 I'm a novice in the Splinter Cell series, but I really enjoyed SC Blacklist. The problem with that game is that it felt like they where trying to force into it showy, QTE-heavy set pieces, that didn't fit particularly well with Splinter Cell's more deliberate gameplay. It seems to me that Ubisoft hasn't quite figured out how to match Splinter Cell's gameplay with the elements that they think people require in a big "AAA game".
Good ! Next, Ezio collection, please
@XBontendo it does however mean that they're putting more effort into the switch version, given all the info.
Yes to this, love these games and black flag is one of my favourites.
@GamerDad66 You can get a 512gb for cheap on sales around 50 bucks. Just go digital.
Japan get a special cloud version of Odyssey, NA and Europe get games that we first released in 2013/4
Thanks Unisoft but I think I'll pass on a point of principal
Those 2 are among my favourites in the franchise. If they don't drop the ball on the performance, I'll definitely get them
Personally Black Flag was my favourite, yet I didn't play any DLC or Rogue so will be all over this to chase those sweet sea shanties on the go! Would also love some remastered splinter cell action early xbox ftw!!! 🤣
"Assassin's Creed: The Rebel Collection Is A Nintendo Switch Exclusive"
Huh? Both games are available already on every other platform. How is that an exclusive?
Anyway, I'm super excited for Rogue. I hate 4, myself.
Where are the Ezio games, Ubisoft!?
A switch exclusive...except for all the other platforms and the brand new subscription games library for $15/mo. But other than that, totally exclusive.
Hope it looks better than 3 remastered...
@Cyberbotv2
ubisoft has been a hit and miss
Starlink battle for atlas cant be played without downloading the rest of the game, and the game could fit on 16gb cartridge so they cheapned out and got with 8gb + download
Assassins creed 3 collection they put the main games liberatin and AC3 on cart but the AC3 dlc had to be downloaded from the web wich is like 6+gb
So yeah they dont have the best track record specialy with the whole starlink fiasco, chepening out on a 13gb game without using 16gb cart for complete on cart was BS.
I’m super stoked for this.
Black 🏴☠️ is my favorite AC game. I also think Rogue is great. If you’re a diehard of Black 🏴☠️ how can you not enjoy Rogue? Personal opinion I guess.
I also never had problems with AC3 on Switch, maybe I played it more after the patch but seems like most people just got on the bandwagon to bash it and beat a dead horse.
All my opinions, I know...
@pedro702 : hmm..I didn't know that. I've been leaning into games all on cart. I hope Ubi doesn't disappoint here. And if anything, I'll be stuck with plenty to play, namely The Witcher 3.
Two of my favorite Assassin's Creed games.
Now this as well! What a year! I really think its amongst top years for N. From both 1st AND 3rd party perspective.
I’m interested in this collection but I’m holding off for reviews (and the likely Ubisoft sale). After the mess AC3 was, they’ll have to prove this is worth the buy.
Hope this turns out well, with the less-than-stellar AC3 port in mind.
AC4 has been on my Really-Should-Play-Some-Day-List for a long time.
This is great I really enjoyed Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. Now if Ubisoft could release Assassin's Creed: The Ezio Collection for the Switch it will make me even more happier.
