Customisation in kart racing games is all the rage nowadays. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe includes this feature and so does the upcoming release Team Sonic Racing. When Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled starts its engine this June, it will also have it.
Yep, the game based on the original 1999 PlayStation release, will allow players to customise their ride with different kart bodies, paint jobs, decals, stickers, wheels and there'll even be insane character skins to top it off. These cosmetics can be unlocked by playing through the game's adventure mode or collecting in-game Wumpa coins in regular races and then spending them at the store.
If you missed it, Crash Team Racing will also include remastered tracks, karts, arenas and battle modes from the 2003 PlayStation 2, Xbox One and GameCube title, Crash Nitro Kart.
Are you looking forward to customising your ride in the new CTR game? Tell us below.

I have a bad feeling about this...
Hopefully this game doesn’t have loot boxes.
Diddy Kong Racing > Crash Team Racing > Mario Kart 64 (worst in the series).
Pretty cool. One of the reasons why I prefer Mario Kart 7 & 8 over the previous entries.
I was really looking forward to this until I read Sammy from Push Square's impressions a few weeks ago. The demo he played was running at 30fps and he said it felt 'slow and unsatisfying'. Perhaps that was just an early build and the framerate will be doubled but with the game releasing in just a few weeks that's unlikely. I'm fine with 30fps in most games but in racing and fighting games, it's very noticeable.
@Galarian_Lassie Why would you assume this will have loot boxes?
@Slasher The emphasis on cosmetics really remind me of other online multiplayer games that focus on style such as Overwatch (owned by the very same company Activision-Blizzard) that have loot boxes. Not saying it's 100% happening, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if it does happen.
@Galarian_Lassie loot boxes in a remaster of a game that never had them? Are you mad? Would be amazed if that happened.
Preordered this for my wife as she loved this as a kid and hasn’t picked up her switch in a while!
I am weirdly excited for this game...it’s become one of my most anticipated releases this year
@Galarian_Lassie With the new bill, you won't have to worry
@quinnyboy58 Funny you say that since it did happen at one point

Already pre ordered. Can't wait.
@Kevember I disagree with you on this. I personally think Mario Kart 64 is superior to both the SNES Mario Kart and Mario Kart Double Dash in GC. I will agree that Mario Kart Wii and both versions of 8 are better games though. I can't speak to the portable versions as I never played them. To each their own though.
I am excited for the game but I will wait for a sale cause I have a few games on backlog and yea. Other things in life have me at a halt right now. But excited to see more about this game
This looks like a good remake of the original but I'm still more excited for Team Sonic Racing.
30fps Racing game? Hmm, no thanks!
As long as they're all unlocked via playing (like Mario kart) and not through grinding ridiculous amounts of hours and/or microtransactions I'll be okay...but we're watching you activision...
@Entrr_username @quinnyboy58 looks like I was beaten to it but I'm guessing you've never heard of Activision 😉 as pointed put above they added microtransactions to that remaster and sold its original DLC separately as well and for a higher price than it was 10 years ago when they actually made it. Not to mention sacking around 800 staff despite enjoying record revenue from their microtransaction riddled games but the people at the top kept their multi million dollar bonuses despite it being their fault that their games have started to falter. Overall a pretty disgusting company that almost rivals EA
This is really sounding good. They have really stacked the content in. Hope it plays ok. As this is looking like a must have. I love games with unlockables and love racing games. This looks a load of fun.
I hate to say it for fear of backlash but the original version of this game may be my favorite racing game of all time (including mk8) and its definitely a contender for all time favorite game in general. Its great to hear they are taking a bit of extra care with this remaster and I really hope the mechanics mirror the original because they honestly still hold up to this day.
Meow Motors, Sonic Racing and then this ... so much kart racing in 2 months
@Kevember Diddy Kong Racing is overrated it's aged pretty badly
30fps? Why? I might grab this game, but team sonic racing has priority right now for racing games.
Hopefully it comes out on Steam soon, I want 60 fps as well. I still have the original PS1 copy and it works great, I just replayed and beat the Adventure Mode recently. I don't have Crash Nitro Kart anymore, though.
By the way, did you guys meant the original Xbox? CNK came out before the Xbox One was a thing. Just correcting it for you guys, though I do blame Microsoft for even calling their current console that (360 to 1... nice going, MS).
I am a huge Crash fan, but I will wait for a price drop.
Is this a remake or is it like a link between worlds, where it's not sequel nor remake?
@ReaderRagfish I'd buy that day one. The sad thing is that there was going to be a couple Lego Racers games that were being developed in the 2000s but they never came out, even though a few had been advertised.
"...collecting in-game Wumpa coins in regular races and then spending them at the store."
Let me guess.... these items will require a huge number of those coins, but don't fear, you'll be able to buy coin packs from the game store!!!!
Coming from Activision, this wouldn't surprise me.
@Not-Geno I think it is more of an HD remake. It is a upposed to have the same tracks, but it is more than just a port. For example, all of the art probably needs to be redone.
@KryptoniteKrunch Mario Kart 7 is still the best.
@NintenDan_ Dude, how are the Mario Kart 8 karts, wheels and gliders not a grind? Even on Dx they still require a lot of coins to get them all and you could be bombed at the end of any race, meaning it could take more than a thousand races to get absolutely everything?
There looks to be a lot of customisation... Might actually have purchasable apple crates to help collect them all.
@Jayofmaya I was more referring to the artificially lengthened grinds in a lot of AAA games, that you can in theory get by playing but takes so long that it encourages you towards premium currency and/or lootboxes to unlock them quicker. Yea Mario Kart 8 can take a while to unlock stuff but you can only unlock them via playing and not paying.
@SlayerG I mean all MK games are great, but I always felt MK64 could've been better. The soundtrack and some of the tracks where amazing though. 8 is probably the best.
Ctr was my first game (ever) so, I am not in a position to give an unbiased opinion.
Did I hear "adventure mode" ? Sounds good!
