Following on from Hollow Knight earlier this week, the trend of delayed physical releases on the Nintendo Switch continues with the Guacamelee! One-Two Punch Collection being pushed back to August.
Instead of launching on 28th May for $39.99, physical distributor Leadman has now revealed the game will arrive on 6th August, due to some technical difficulties. Despite the delay, the two-in-one collection –including both Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition and Guacamelee! 2 – can still be pre-ordered.
A press release further explained the delay and also confirmed the game's DLC in the Switch release would be included as codes in the box:
We just wanted to let you know that due to unforeseen circumstances, the physical release of the Guacamelee! One-Two Punch Collection for Switch and PS4 has been officially delayed until August 6th. It turns out that it's not as simple to release a multi-application cart/disk as we initially thought! We're confident in this new date however, and do not foresee any further delays.
On the plus side, while we were figuring all of this out we've also figured out a way to include all of the DLC for both games as part of the purchase. On PS4, all DLC will be included on the disc, and on Switch the DLC will be included as codes in the box.
Will you still be adding this physical release to your collection? How do you feel about the DLC being included as codes? Let us know in the comments.

Cool. I already have these games, but they're both easy recommendations by me.
Guess they couldnt fit the DLC on the cart?
Cant wait for this, day 1 purchase for me
I can wait, I forgot this existed and now I'm happy these phenomenal games will be released in a physical format!
2 superb games right here...trust me they are worth the wait for those who haven’t played yet
Ugh, codes! Best Buy delayed this until June 25th weeks ago. A 2nd delay sucks, but there are too many games coming that week anyway.
@B-Locks Guacameele STCE is 646MB and Guacamelee 2 Complete (including DLC) is 2.1GB. Combined that is less than 3GB, fitting nicely on a 4GB cart. Space is NOT the issue here.
Wow, u can get both games & a memory card that will fit both for around $25 or less right now in US.
@NicolausCamp why was this downvoted? Is it not true (to whomever downvoted)?
Edit: read comment you replied to & he was being sarcastic, i think. That's something Capcom became infamous for (putting dlc that wasn't going to be released until later, on the disc & just making customers download a 100MB unlock file when they decided it was time to "release" it).
My entire N64 collection is physical.
This is that meme game, right?
Not really a fan of DLC codes. Rather have it on the cartridge.
For crying out loud...why in the HELL do they think it's okay to do on-disc for PS4 but lousy download codes for Switch? You're missing the whole point of a delayed physical release, guys!
@Stuffgamer1
Is it just the DLC that is codes?
Cool. I have the first game on my Wii-U and have never played the second one yet.
But Super Charged championship Edition had all the DLC on it? So, surely they just mean number 2's dlc? Bit of a shame, even then...

@NicolausCamp
Wasn't my downvote, was not being sarcastic. I never bothered to look up the file sizes, (Thanks Nicolaus)
I'm not a fan of the DLC Code but eh.. guess its better than whole 2nd game on code.
This is a bummer, I was really looking forward to getting and playing this in a few short weeks.
Still, they gotta do what they gotta do. I do wonder though why they can't get the DLC built into the game cart itself for Guacamelee 2. It might post a small problem as it's a US release, for an EU region system like mine.
@rdrunner1178 That's what it sounds like.
