It may well have been ten years since the original's release, but it only seems like ten minutes have passed since we first heard about The World Ends With You: Final Remix heading to Switch. Now, though, the game's launch is already nearly upon us, and Nintendo has shared a brand new trailer to celebrate.
The trailer invites you to learn more about the game's distinctive battle system, giving you a look into the pins which act as Neku's abilities in battle, tips on how to work well with your battle partner, and how to keep on top of all the latest shopping trends. Of course, you also get to see how the game looks and sounds - we challenge you to not groove to the music in the second half of the video.
If you missed The World Ends With You the first time around on Nintendo DS, this would be a perfect opportunity to see what all the fuss is about. The game arrives on Switch next week on 12th October.
Will you be getting your groove on with this one next week? Have you been excited for the game's launch since its initial reveal? Let us know with a comment.

Looking good! Never got a chance to play the original so this is going on my wishlist ^_^ Still have Octopath Traveller to complete & need to save my pennies for Smash in December.
I bought this for the iPad years ago. A year later it simply wouldn't run anymore and Squenix wouldn't fix it. Not paying for it again.
So do you just not control your partner in battle anymore?
Too bad there's still no mention of the pin leveling system. IIRC one gameplay video incidentally showcased that "idle" experience (earned for up to a certain period of not playing the game) is still here, but how have they adjusted/replaced the original's "mingling"? And for that matter, do pins still have branching evolutions based on the experience type ratio?
The music has some great Persona 3 vibes. :>
Loved this game on the ds ,and can't wait to play it again on switch. Still will have to wait a week as I can't pick it up next week
@NewAdvent
I too have concerns about this. Getting into a rhythm of controlling two people on two separate screens just felt so right.I haven't played the mobile version but in a lot of ways that and this new Switch version just seems like it would be more of a down grade from a really good DS game. Very unfortunate.
I'm just wondering how the game is supposed to control. The original's control scheme was entirely tied to being played on a DS, from the battle controls for Neku being 100% touch-screen actions to your partner being on the top screen during battle because they're in a different phase of reality from Neku and have their own fight going on to manage while you're simultaneously fighting with Neku.
No lies, I feel like a remake of this title would have been a better representation on Wii U...
Like others I'm concerned about the price and controls. The early reports on the control scheme from Japan are pretty negative so far, so that's worrying. It's a shame since I'd love to play this classic and see why everyone raves about it, but at that price and with such awkward controls I'm not sure anymore.
I'm sooo eager to play this game. The downside is I expect soo much from it, it's gotta be outstanding for me not to be disappointed lol
Yeah I'm half really excited for the game, and half really worried about the controls. This seems like such a good game concept ruined by being locked to one piece of hardware to really function. I want to believe it's a good effort, and yet, it feels so much like this came from the Square-Enix "We just don't trust this Switch thing, so lets just take our mobile games and port them quick, and besides it was a Nintendo game anyway" of last year, not the "let's take every RPG we ever made and stuff it on Switch" Square of this year.
Like others, I'm kind of on the fence about this one. I've heard really great things about the DS game but just never got the chance to play it back in the day. I'm curious as to how well it will control on the Switch. This will likely be one of those games where I wait until after launch and go through many reviews and impressions before deciding if it's for me.
@Galenmereth Yes, you use the joycon like an air-mouse/Wiimote pointer.
I’m worried, but hopefully it turns out to be a good port/remake.
$ 49, 99 for a DS port when one of the best games of our times Stardew Valley cost only $15 is kinda greedy from Square-Enix no?
This will bomb so much... Bad pricing on top of no options on control scheme..
I think I will be canceling my preorder:
1) too many games coming out for the Switch right now, 2) reports of bad control schemes, 3) a high release price and 4) I’ve just ordered the original DS game in new condition for half the price.
Instead I’ll be waiting for reviews on this new version and maybe buy it later on.
I'll pass and maybe play it on my DS. Not worth $50 when intended control scheme is touch based and mobile port is pretty much the same at a much cheaper cost.
Love the game but $70 on the eShop. Yikes.
