The Pokémon goodness just keeps coming, this time in the form of yet another brand new Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee! trailer.
Yes, on top of the brand new limited edition Switch console design featuring Pikachu and Eevee, and the promise of a world exclusive trailer airing next weekend, this trailer shows off Secret Techniques, partner-exclusive moves, and much more.
As you can see in the video, Pikachu or Eevee can help players overcome obstacles they encounter by learning Secret Techniques. These special skills can be used by the player’s partner Pokémon outside of battle to clear away trees (Chop Down), glide across water (Sea Skim), and quickly revisit towns and cities that have already been explored (Sky Dash), essentially replacing the need for HMs as seen in previous titles.
The player’s partner Pikachu or Eevee can also use exclusive moves that can help players face any challenge during their adventures, reminding us a little of Pokémon Sun and Moon's Z-Moves. Once the player’s relationship with their partner reaches a certain level, the partner Pokémon will occasionally send a sign during battle that its partner power can be used. Pikachu can use 'Pika Papow' and 'Splishy Splash', while Eevee can use 'Veevee Volley' and 'Bouncy Bubble', 'Buzzy Buzz', and 'Sizzly Slide'.
The trailer also gives us our first look at Celadon City, including the Gym Battle which takes place there against Erika. Across all trailers presented so far, we've now seen half of the game's Gyms in action - perhaps the intention is to show all eight before the games are released?
What a day for Pokémon fans! Is this the end of the news for today?

Already plan on saying Pika PewPew every time instead of Papow.
Keep the news coming! This game will be so fun.
Modernizing the first adventure big time.
If this won't help shift Switch systems to the little ones, I don't know what will. I guess Nintendo weren't kidding when they said their strategy with their mobile offerings would be to lure people back to their own ecosystem.
Okay...
First, Funky Kong mode (Surfing) & now the Balloons from Up Disney Pixar.
"We've now seen half of the game's Gyms in action - perhaps the intention is to show all eight before the games are released?"
That's been the trend for the 3DS Pokémon games. Show the vast majority of the game's content in gradual trailers up to the game's release, until there's no more surprises in the game at all.
Like seriously, every new thing the game brought forward, mega evolutions, Pokémon, abilities etc. They all got trailers, nothing to discover in the game.
Meh. I wish I could look forward to this game, but everything they show in the trailers doesn't really have that wow factor. The only thing interesting is seeing how Kanto looks remade on the Switch, but that's not enough for me to spend £50 on. These games were probably meant to appeal to the newest generation of kids who didn't experience Kanto as older fans did.
To answer the subtitle, yes, if it pertains to the Let's Go games.
So they gave Pikachu and Eevee special moves to make the game even easier. Facing a rock type with Pikachu? Well here's a water move to remove all challenge. These games are insulting to my intelligence. Yes, I get that they are supposed to be simplified for kids and newcomers. I'm just eager for next year's games that will (hopefully) offer some type of challenge for veteran players.
this game will sell like hotcakes not because its a good game, but because its pokemon
What's with the random Italic O of Once (After Z-moves)in the article?
"Had enough pokemon news yet?"
For this game yes because I'm interested in the 2019 pokemon game
@justin233 they're just giving them type coverage. Since you don't get to choose your starter, or evolve them.
Eevee in particular needed some.
So now you can rely on your starter a bit more.
@TJWorks I disagree. I played the originals and this is the first Pokemon game that has appeals to me in years.
@Swaz How come?
@TJWorks It's Kanto remade with modern graphics! And no random encounters, which I find get old after a while. Call me excited.
If they have been revealed in a trailer, then how are they "secret techniques"? 😕
@justin233 these are “secret techniques” that don’t replace normal moves, so may only be useable in the field, not in battle

(screams in scratchy voice) In my day, we would have to catch a Mankey to beat the first gym if we had Charmander, and we were okay.
And yet it still has motion controls and a silly catching mechanic cuz "Pokemon is too hard."
@-Green- you couldn't catch a Mankey before the first gym if you started the game with a Charmander!
Are you telling me Eevee gets 3 unique elemental moves!? Daaaaamn!
@gaga64 They show Pikachu battling Geodude and using a water move, correct?
@ThatNyteDaez At least he only got one per gen 1 evolution!
@justin233 Surfing Pikachu has been a thing since the original Generation 1. You can just transfer over a surfing Pikachu from Pokémon Stadium. For the sake of parity they've given Eevee additional coverage.
Those balloons though... 😂
@Swaz
Agreed!
Moon was the first one I'd played since Gold and the idea that people are complaining about /these/ games for dumbing Pokemon down is laughable when you consider just how inane and terrible the writing and plot of that game was.
So far the ONLY evidence that people have that these games are 'dumbed down' is the lack of random encounters - which let be honest, we all just avoid with Repels at the first change we get - and the fact that you have to use motion controls - which, sure I don't love, but whatever.
People talking about how these games are targeted at kids. ALL THE GAMES ARE TARGETED AT KIDS.
So when whining about these games, stop and think for a second, because the evidence people are mustering to argue that these games are going to be anything other than the fun light-hearted RPGs Pokemon have always been is very, very weak.
@-Green- You mean a Nidoran that learned Double Kick
@Ernest_The_Crab Yea but that surfing Pikachu wasn’t just handed to you.
What's up with the names of these moves. Splishy Splash? Well running dry?
@justin233 You can just trade for it though which is the equivalent of it being handed to you, especially since gen 1 didn't have trade restrictions other than owning at least 2 pokemon and having a pokedex.
@-Green- that’s impressive since in red version you could only catch Manley in routes 5-8 and in blue version it was unavailable. Seriously glitching you must’ve done!
@TJWorks I partially agree that this is for a younger audience. That's what the co-op is for. This is being marketed (somewhat) as a parent-child game. Why Kanto? Because there's still lots of nostalgia for Kanto among adults. Why simplify? Because adults don't have the time to put into learning mechanical systems that they used to as children. Why co-op? So that a parent who is excited about this game can buy it and play it with their child, introducing them to the franchise and thus widening the player base. The game is aimed at lapsed gen 1 players who came back for Pokemon Go, but are put off by the amount of features (and bloat) in the latest gen games, it's not really being aimed at kids. All of the games have been for kids, and those never needed simplification.
@Datwun Speak for yourself on random battles. I enjoy kicking a couple wild ones down on the way to the next town. In my case, simplification =/= dumbing down. My real issue with the Go catching mechanic is that it undermines the series' core values. Since the beginning, Pokemon has been about catching them all, but it's also been heavily about friendship, especially with your captured 'mon. Yet in Go, I catch them and abandon them with impunity, making catching meaningless. It's a bland mechanic. For me that's a downgrade. They took away some of my fun and replaced it with something bland and uninteresting. It doesn't mean the games will be the worst thing ever, they'll probably still be fun for what they are, I'm just also glad they already announced a main line entry for next year.
@ShadJV @Yosheel
(Reapplies mustache) STOP DOUBTIN My Memory
No cloud saves = no purchase for me
@TrendanBrendan you must be hardcore to train a Nidoran to level 43 before Brock's gym!
@Yosheel Nidoran(f&m) learns it at 12 (in Pkmn Yellow).
Pokemon yellow was featuring Mankey on route 3. He was my guy at the time for Brock's gym.
@whanvee The well got cleaned out when they started making Pokémon out of ice cream and lamps
@HobbitGamer : As opposed to balls, magnets, and sludge?
The Vanilluxe line is byfar one of my favourites. We used to have an ice cream stall growing up (around the time that Pokémon exploded onto the scene), so it has particularly sentimental value for me, especially the fact that they have made Pokémon based on cups/sundaes and double cones.
The candle/lantern/chandelier Pokémon are so ridiculous that I can't help but love them. The fact that they included a friggin' chandelier Pokémon in a fighting game is hilarious.
@Gibb Yellow. We were talking about Red and Blue.
@HobbitGamer Well, to be fair, substance surrounding Vanillite technically isn’t ice cream and Chandlure and it’s line aren’t really candles/lanterns.
And while I can see why some find the concepts silly, I think it helps to know the Pokédex entries and name origins b hind Pokémon. It helps to put their designs and their concepts into perspective
@UmbreonsPapa I was being facetious. I think it’s silly to pick out at the move names in a world where there’s fanciful creatures
@justin233 ok, I didn’t actually watch the video. But Pikachu with Surf was a thing in the original Yellow so it’s not new.
