Bandai Namco has announced that Dragon Ball FighterZ will be punching its way onto Switch on 28th September, and players that pre-order the game will get some extra little goodies, too.
The Switch version of the critically acclaimed brawler will feature all the spectacular fights, iconic fighters and fast-paced action from the game's release on other platforms, including all the extra characters already released in other versions from day one. Those who decide to pre-order the game will also receive immediate access to Goku and Vegeta SSGSS.
On top of this, and perhaps the icing on the cake, pre-orders will also net you a copy of the Japanese version of the classic SNES game: Dragon Ball Z: Super Butoden - a game that only ever saw releases in Japan, France, and Spain back in 1993. Here's what it looks like on Switch:
Meanwhile, Bandai has also announced Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Extra Pack 3, which will also be available this summer on Switch. This pack will offer the long-awaited character, Super Baby Vegeta, a parasite-like organism created from the DNA of King Tuffle before the extinction of his race. By taking possession of Vegeta’s body, Baby became Super Baby Vegeta, one of the strongest fighters in the universe.
Will you be battling it out when the game launches this September? Let us know if you're hyped for this one in the comments below.

That is one HECK of a preorder bonus!
Will the Extra pack for Xenoverse be included with the Season Pass still? (Technically by its name it shouldn't but with its purpose would suck if wasn't).
Also preordered this as soon as Shopto stuck it up. Can't wait.
Even though the Butoden games were pretty bad, I was crossing my fingers for this. This'll be a fun throwback!
GREAT!!! A must have for this christmas. Looks amazing on Switch!
Super Baby Vegeta
Okay...
As a teen I emulated that game.
Yeah, that sold me for fighterz
Virtual Console confirmed!!
I guess not... Still in the fence if I get it on PS4 or Switch.
By "obscure" Ryan meant really common PAL SNES cartridge in Portugal, Spain, France and Italy where DBZ fever was already running amok back in 1992.
Now that's cool! Kind of wish other developers would do the same. Like if we're getting sequel games here in North America, then pre-order and get a classic original game that never made it to the West. I can think of so many series that this would be really cool to have.
Ugggh where do we pre order this in order to receive the bonus stuff? I’ve already done on amazon.
Wow that's awesome! Almost got it for steam (pc) now ill wait for the switch version! Nice bonus tho!!
Glad they included all the past characters. Still don't know if I'll pick it up but it looks pretty stunning.
Cool. Hopefully my GameStop will let me invest in this opportunity.
These kinds of bonuses are great incentives. I also picked up Bandai's Dragon Ball Z Extreme Butoden on the 3DS for its inclusion of a code to download Dragon Ball Z Super Butoden 2. Legitimately owning the first part on the Switch is now a must for me. This is another reason why I'm a major Nintendo fan - the gaming legacy is respected by the original major game developers.
Where can I pre-order the game with the exclusive download content?
By the way, please be aware that the game we will be downloading may not include any of the original stages' music, as there was (or maybe still is) a major copyright battle between the original composer and Bandai.
@Silly_G as in the villain in Dragon Ball GT possessing Vegeta in his super state.
Well damn I just ordered this for $40 on my Xbox One last night.
As a DBZ fan who loved the hell out of this game when it released on PS4, I will definitely double dip when it comes to Switch!
Crap. That's actually pretty intriguing
I thought that preorder bonus would never leave Japan.
Happy to be wrong about that.
@Executer66
same here.
game looks fun but i'm not a super fighting game fan and i'd have to see if the game even runs right portable. if it has a bunch of compromises then i'll just skip it and grab it on steam eventually when it goes super cheap.
I wonder if arcsystemworks is going to give Dragonball FighterZ a collector's edition exclusive to their online store like they did with BlazBlue CTB?
Awesome,cant wait!
When this game got announced I was hoping that it would be released on the switch, its just one of those games I'd love to have on the go. Once it was announced I wanted to see how it performed on the switch, now after seeing the videos of it and how it runs I am so excited for this. Will definitely pre-order. Vegeta>Goku
Nice, but I'd prefer Dragon Ball Z: Hyper Dimension, much better game all around.

Wow, I've never been sold by a Pre-order bonus in my Life and that just got me.
I want the SNES Game more than I want FighterZ.
Super Baby Vegeta sounds like a vegan baby food! 😅
@KingdomHeartsFan what means the best version for you? For me the best is on switch, because you can play anywhere anytime.
@KingdomHeartsFan ok i can undersdand, i don’t even have a tv so i was hopping for the switch versions since ot was realeased on switch.
Super Butoden is old, but it is definitely not a classic.
man i kinda wouldve wanted legend of the super saiyan than this game, ugh.
ahwell, free game = free game i guess
Saga would have been so much better
but seriously though, thats awesome.
Absolutely D1 for me
@Roam85
"As a teen I emulated that game."
On a computer, or in real life? 😆
I was able to play DB Fighter Z at E3 and must say I was really impressed with how it looked on Switch! Silky smooth and ultra high-quality!
I actually picked up Super Butoden at a convention a while back (with what I think are two sequels to it?) and... it's not that great.
The controls and gameplay are pretty obtuse, but I seem to remember this same system getting a lot more refined in Hyper Dimension. So... why not pack in that one? It's arguably a lot more sought after since its special chips make it un-flash cart-able.
But I'd be lying if I said this didn't make me consider a pre-order. I already want this game.
Could had bundle with a better classic game, Hyper Dimension or Legend of the Saiyans would had been a better choice.
Oh wow, I'm not even into fighting games like that, but even I remember an import of that one from back in the day. Nice pre-order
Bought. Makes the Switch's September much stronger
@KingdomHeartsFan there are a number of previews available from reputable YouTube channels if you look. The consensus is that this is a great port of the original as it maintains the all important 60fps during gameplay and the graphics are barely disriguisbable from the other versions apart from a few lower res background elements. With all things being mostly equal, the advantage of the switch versions’s flexibility should not be understated, and should be considered the best version imo.
@retro_player_22 True. I emulated unofficially translated versions of those 2 games for hours way back when DBZ fever hit me. Would be nice to own them legitimately now. Especially since my understanding of Japanese is enough nowadays to properly play the originals.
This article is a bit misleading. DLC characters will be available from Day 1, but you'll still have have to pay for them. The article could have been clearer on this.
I will absolutely be pre-ordering this
when are preorders live?
@Ooyah Yes.
So you pre-order the game and get Super Butoden now? Or does it come in September too?
Any word of Canadian retailers getting the pre-order bonus?
@KingdomHeartsFan
Traveller is... busy traveling?
I'm interested, but I don't know what I'll do
Super Butôden is no obscure at all. Everybody knows it and its two sequels. At least in Europe. They were officially released.
But I think at this point the available DLC should have been included for free day one. That's a typical move when a game version is released later than the others. Not for Bandai Namco it seems.
Sweet Super Baby Vegeta is my favorite Dragon Ball villain.
I'm guessing the pre-order bonus is for digital download only??
Anyone can verify it?
physical copy right?
Oooh, I remember playing both Butoden and Hyper Dimension almost twenty years ago (on emulator) with a Dragon Ball obsessed friend.
Butoden is a nice little classic fighter, but they ought to have included Hyper Dimension for the more ambitious project of the era. I mean, just to sound like a snooty old-timer.
"By taking possession of Vegeta’s body, Baby became Super Baby Vegeta, one of the strongest fighters in the universe."
Only until Super Baby Vegito Blue Ultimate arrives.
I remember playing Super Botuden, kinda fun. Of course I played on my Windoes 98 SE computer running on zSNES emulator. How will this work if you pre-order a physical copy?
How dare you call Super Butouden "obscure" XD.
For the record, when Dragon Ball Z Extreme Butoden came out for the 3DS, it came with a download code for the SNES Super Butouden 2, with every preorder.
Where can it be pre-ordered in the UK with the bonus game? All the sites I check don't mention it on the page.
Hello Everyone .. Does anyone know where can I purchase Dragon Ball FighterZ game for Nintendo Switch ??
Okay, very important question, which site offers the preorder bonus of Super Butoden? Amazon or GameStop have them open! But, only GameStop mentions them, so I assume Amazon won't give you the bonuses.
