In what is a scarily common practice on the Chinese smartphone app stores, a Legend of Zelda knock-off game has become available to download, promising the thrills and adventure of titles like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
It wasn't too long ago that we reported on the unwelcome return of a Splatoon rip-off, but this new one takes things to a whole new, half hysterical, half upsetting level. As you can see, the game's leading artwork features images from both Breath of the Wild and Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition, and is even called "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Adventure Journey" - a very catchy name as we're sure you'll agree.
You won't be surprised to learn that the in-game footage, which somehow claims to be a “high quality recreation of the ‘PC Version'” (whatever that could possibly mean), looks nothing like the Zelda games we're all familiar with. Here are some screenshots for you to admire.
At the time of writing, the game seems to have disappeared from the app store, although you can check it out in all of its original glory through this cached link.
We think Nintendo's sales figures might still be safe, but what do you think? Feel free to share your anger, disgust, giddy uncontrollable laughter, or whatever else you may be feeling below.

Looks like an instant classic.
What are you doing, NLife? Link doesn't like to be cached...
Cursed images
Would’ve been nice to see how it plays. I thought the splatoon rip off was actually quite good
@Shigmin Have you seen your profile picture lately? 😂
Inevitable...
Haha! I was hoping someone would point it out.
I feel bad for regular people in China. The Chinese government and Chinese corporation just don't care in the slightest about intellectual property. And because of that, many foreign companies don't want to release their properties there. Instead choosing just to use China as cheap labor.
Why are they even trying anymore?
@Heavyarms55
I felt ashamed as half Chinese-Indonesian people to see Chinese people did Copycat all the time.
So the series of The Legend of Zelda: World of Knockoffs continues....
XD
Sorry, something hysterical about them saying that it's a "Zelda game" and it's just some random game.
Sigh...come on China. It can't be THAT hard to come up with original work is it?
@1UP_MARIO Did you see the real in game screen shots?
@Anti-Matter Ignoring die hard racists, I think most of us know regular Chinese or half Chinese people are perfectly reasonable people. The problem is greedy corporate and government types... which tends to be a universal problem. Just in different ways.
