Capcom’s support of the Nintendo Switch has been a little spotty to say the least, with many calling out the company for ho-hum ports of old games and its strange omission of a Switch version for new ones, like the Disney Afternoon Collection. Nonetheless, the company has brought some solid content to the platform, and it expanded more on how its software has been performing in its latest financial results report.
In the report, Capcom states that both Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers and Monster Hunter XX enjoyed hit status, which goes right in line with the sales data shared last year which showed that these titles cleared 500,000 and 350,000 units sold, respectively. Now, there was nothing in this report to suggest that Monster Hunter will eventually be localized for the West, but Capcom did mention that it wants to grow its digital content and esports presence. Hopefully the company will have more exciting news for Nintendo fans when June rolls around.
What do you think? Did you buy either of these games? Will Capcom bring Monster Hunter to the West? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

I'd say stop being hopeful. If Capcom doesn't want to give Switch MonHun then do be it.
Whatever, everyone who wanted MHXX already has it, they're not missing much anyways.
Love Ultra Street Fighter II so much I don't need the new Street Fighter collection. Getting the two physical mega man collections though. Never got into Monster Hunter.
Wishlist: Please announce a Resident Evil collection of the first 1-4 and Code Veronica. Remakes preferably, but original might be a laugh to replay. Jill Sandwich.
I would rather play mhxx than mhw honestly. I'm still waiting for that localization so I can drop mhw.
@Alikan and they will make the first 1 on cartidge and the rest will have to be downloaded.
@Joeynator3000 that's what I'm saying I got XX on launch. With World coming, I doubted we'd get it. I wonder if NoA can see import percentages. 🤔
@Kamiyouni I was expecting Capcom do something stupid and wait till World released to localize MHXX on the Switch. Because, you know, Switch isn't getting World for some reason, lol
They really need to stop their digital only crap, that's what's really been pissing people off lately, myself included. The absence of new stuff is also a problem like that Disney Afternoon Collection and MHXX.
If you look at the volume of games, they're actually doing the most of the big 3rd parties to support the Switch, but everything they release has a "but". No physical, 1 part physical the other a download code for collections, overpriced releases, no western localisation, etc.
It's hard to be happy with them when everything they do has something that leaves a bad aftertaste in your mouth v.v
@Alikan All GameCube games in HD. 0,1,2,3,4, CVX. Also RE7......they can do 5 and 6 for completionists as a free download.
Just imagine how much more XX would have sold if they released it in the West too. I still have a small flicker of hope left in me that they'll still give us XX but I'm not gonna hold my breath or anything.
Bunch of suits painting rosey pictures with their financials. Nothing to see here.
Capcoms output has been sketchy to say the least, putting out pricey ports of old games while the other systems get the new ones.
At least they have some proof that the Switch can be profitable now and they do have a few good releases coming up like the Street Fighter collection and Okami.
You go down that link and get to the source report. Monster Hunter World hit 7.9 Million copies. That is what they will focus on.
The Switch will get more attention once it starts giving million+ sales to games not from Nintendo. 500K is irrelevant - especially that SFII was a $40 budget game.
i'm planning to get MHW on PC not waiting years for "assuming" of a switch version.
if thats gets delay, time to think of buying a PS4 for me to use.
I'd rather have a Ace Attorney Collection on Switch. Get on it Capcom!
As for Monster Hunter...
I think Switch will get a sub series (new game) & mainline Monster Hunter will stay on traditional home consoles given the success of MH World.
@Joeynator3000 Not everyone. I was holding off for the inevitable console version . If it doesn't come over in another couple years, I guess I'll have to pick it up on 3ds
I’d buy MH XX un a heart beat
Can somebody please tell me why the heck Disney Afternoon Collection hasn't been released on Switch?
XX would be nice, but I'd rather see RE7, a MvC collection and the Disney Collection.
Waiting for their arcade catalogue to show up on Switch. Really need 19XX on there
Wow, a game that's exclusive in Japan sells well, what next, sales in EU that don't affect NA?
Think it’s bizarre that they would release that game worldwide as it would def sell. Really strange decision. Really hate what they are doing with their physical switch releases as well. Sticking half on a cart and half as digital is really really sneaky. I’m sure they are doing it as it massively effects the second hand market for that title. They are hiding behind the switch cartridge tax but they know exactly what they are doing. Those mega man file sizes could easily fit on the lowest cartridge size yet they aren’t on there so there has to be another reason and I’m sure it’s the resell market
@QwertyQwerty dude, you realise the last bit of your post is racist right?
Crapcom can go **** themselves.
****="play"
@QwertyQwerty it’s also a racial slur. Just so u know
@Joeynator3000 That "some reason" would be that the Switch can't run it.
So the switch can't run world but it can run XX so just give us that! It's got to be worth 500,000 sales in the west
Hate to say it but MHW is doing really well. I doubt they’re gonna bother localizing XX at this point. And I’ve sorta lost motivation to hope for it, I’d love MH on the go again but at this point I’m saving my hope for G rank for World... since its one big flaw is it’s just too easy for veterans, the only noticeable challenges are a few tempered monsters at the very end (mostly elder dragons). It’s practically screaming for a G rank at this point, stuff that can two shot (or even one shot) you even with endgame armor. That’s the MH I hate and love.
Bottom line is ill buy any monster hunter title on the switch.....so just port MH3 U if you can't be bothered to give us a new one.
@Lord they coooould localize MHXX... they could also use those resources to churn out a paid expansion and get much more money from the millions of existing MHW players. And as much as I wanted XX, if I were Capcom I’d want to focus on the bigger cash cow. I’m doubting MH is gone from Nintendo for good but god knows Capcom has needed a win these days (though most of their poor profits has been due to them not making smart choices. Megaman could be a huge source of money, but why would they want money?
@Agramonte
Yeah but if they got $40 from each sale thats $20 million for a game that must have cost about $500 to make. That's Capcom kind of figures.
I still think they'll localise MH XX. The code is there, a lot of the translation is there, it's easy money. It's not even wishful thinking on my part as I don't like Monster Hunter.
Capcom should probably re-acquire the Tatsunoko licence and remaster/remake the vs Capcom game from Wii. That was so good. It'd give MvC the break it probably needs right now, after Infinite wasn't a big seller.
Capcom is inept.
"Nintendo fans don't buy 3rd party gamez!!1!!" lol
But yeah, good news. I'll be picking up SF 30th day 1, and also be picking up the Mega Man collections and Okami. Hopefully we get some more Resident Evil goodness from Capcom.
I gave in, bought a ps4 and MHW. So ashamed but soooo satisfied at the moment.
I love playing Monster Hunter World on my Xbox One but I really want XX on Switch in English still please Capcom...
I haven't played Monster Hunter in quite some time now, not since the first couple months 4 Ultimate came out here in the states! I really want to play a new entry, but I have to wait until the PC port of World or the hopeful localization of XX!
@MegaMari0 Don't be ashamed; the PS4 is an awesome system with great exclusives. I highly recommend trying the Gravity Rush titles!
MHXX would have done 3x as much with a global release, simply because it was the 3rd time selling Generations to the same audience in Japan, but the west only ever got the base game.
Ah well. I already bought MHXX. Already played World. Now I'm looking forward to a 5th gen entry on Switch
It was a slap in the face to Western Switch owners when double cross was not announced for release over here. Especially with the latest game hitting the other consoles.
I'm still playing XX, and 300 hours later it's still kicking butt. My hope is that XX not only gets localized, but a 'classic' series of MonHun continues to be developed and released alongside the reboot. MHW is fun, no doubt about it, but it's just not the same. If we could just squeeze out an MH5 for the Switch, I think we'd be good...
I enjoy MH World so if XX doesn’t come over that won’t bother me. I’m ready for a new Ace Attorney game though.
Whatever Capcom. Not too bothered about MH anymore.
@MegaMari0
Why are you ashamed of buying a PS4? It's a great System.
I have Generations and even though I didn't think it was as good as MH4U, I would have gotten MHXX had they cared enough to send it here to the West. I have a Japanese eshop account but I don't want the game in that language, I want it in the one I can read. lol
I believe Capcom's explanation that they were caught off guard with the successes of the Switch. For whatever reason, they took a "wait and see" approach and now they're playing catch up. I think we'll see more content from Capcom over the next year or two. I'm sure we'll get Monster Hunter. I wouldn't be surprised if RE7 comes to Switch too.
@Winklebottom
Wait for PC. From 1 st hand experience. I can say world barely runs well on the xbox and ps4. It runs best on the one X but only at an unlocked 30fps. Server quality is better as well.
Of course this is all barring the potential of them making a half hearted mess on the PC because Capcom.
@wiggleronacid
Not gonna lie, keep you expectations low. It is easily one of the most anemic Monster hunters to date.Just enjoy the QOL changes, the ok graphics upgrade, and if you are lucky., most of the casual fussers will stay on the consoles.
Also since decrations are the new RNG don’t be surprised if you never see certain ones. I am 400ish hour and have yet to see any attack decos other than the one you get.
@Hamguar Thanks for the info, I'll keep that all in mind. I really enjoyed Monster Hunter 3 and 4, but I would not consider myself a die-hard fan of the series. As such, my expectations aren't through the roof or anything. More of a moderate excitement to eventually try the game out.
@electrolite77 Yes, That is a good math. Why you now see another SF repackaging at a budget price for 2018. People should not be surprised or piss on Capcom because of it. They chasing the revenue they can on the Switch until the base support something else.
I rather they take the time refining the new Megaman on Switch. After playing Monster Hunter World - XX demo on the Switch is just Archaic.
I bought USF2, barely use it unless the mood is there. I was going to buy more, but they've gone down the toilet of half releases with the rest being a download at my addition expense of a memory card for a digital rental style time period. Perhaps RE1+2 was too big given current media, but in the case of the Mega Man stuff where they went with a 1GB chip instead of a 2GB chip is just being slimy when an 8GB is known to be on par with a PS4 blu ray mastering cost. I can't and won't support those tactics. I like supporting third parties, one's that don't abuse the customer base like Bethesda and others so far have done.
Unless Capcom comes out with something proper, I can't be bothered. What they've released so far is a joke.
Much like Konami, Capcom has such a rich history and simply does not use it to their advantage. The Disney afternoon collection should already be on Switch, XX should have been translated, and the Megaman collection is being done wrong with the half an half approach. Of course we shouldn't be surprised on the last one considering they screwed it up on the Gamecube version too.
Nothing but ports and more upgrades of ports. Make something new for a change Capcom you know something Mega Man Legends 3, something Monster Hunter 5, something Darkstalkers 4, Onimusha 4 (a true main one), Devil May Cry 5, Dino Crisis 4, Final Fight 4, Breath of Fire 7, Mega Man X9, etc.
@wiggleronacid @electrolite77 always been a Nintendo guy. Raising my kid(s) on Nintendo. It's a tradition/childhood thing. I tried Xbox 360 like 7 years ago and was indifferent as wife originally was the one who nagged me into buying it. Brother owned a PS1 So I did play it as a kid. I have nothing against PlayStation, the shame is more me giving in and not holding out for MHXX to come west.
@super08mario I'm curious to know why you think this way? People keep saying it's the best MH game ever. Personally, I find it's lost of lot of that Japanese/MH charm and all it's vibrate colourful world when they westernized it.
@TsukiDeity i feel the same way. It had a lot of charm and it was unique. World is awesome and I enjoy it but there are many changes that affected this. Gunner and Blademaster armor has been put into one set which takes away from the variety of armors you can have and affects the learning curve that was necessary for gunners. Now everyone and anyone can use a gun which is good but it attracts people that think of it as nothing more than a shooting game. There were some cool monsters but very few that were amazing and unique as some introduced in past entries. Just in generations we got astalos, glavenus, mizutsune, and gammoth that had amazing designs. I'm not in love with the new monsters except legiana. There are cool monsters in world but their armor and/or weapons is useless or they don't have weapons. Where are the weapons for lavasioth, dodogama and many other monsters in the game? People aren't making friends like they did in other games. You drop in and out then lose them. Well i have a hard time finding friends there. You just go to an sos and you get what you need. The maps are a bit too big and too few. I have a feeling they will add a snow place later requiring players to use hot drinks. They are definitely not as vibrant as the past.
Sorry for the ramble and i don't hate the game, it's just not what got me hooked in the first place. I liked making different armors and weapons for looks, fighting monsters because they were fun to fight and nice to look at. I used to have hunting groups that i would find there and hunt with for hours. None of this was done intentionally to ostracize the old crowd but to bring a new crowd. It is what it should be for a console but in gaining a new crowd they simplified the game.
As much as I love Monster Hunter and japanese stuff, I just can't play an RPG in japanese. Too many kanjis drive me crazy.
I hope Capcom does the right move and release MHXX in the west.
A large portion of the text is already translated with Generations but i have a feeling they will not bother with an official localization.
Most die hard fans already imported the Switch version or used a fan translation in the 3DS version via homebrew.
If i had a choice, i rather let them work on a new proper MH game for the Switch. It seems World is not coming so maybe it's time for a new "Portable" series, like the PSP versions.
Capcom please give us RE2 remake and RE7! Also MH5!
Monster Hunter Generations and MH 4 U have combined sales near 9 million so i would bet that a real MH game is coming.
I'd like to give Capcom the benefit of the doubt and think they are waiting for E3 to announce something about Monster Hunter Generations for the Switch... though I'm certain they'll just announce it for the 3DS.
Why is Capcom baiting and trolling us with statements like this? I've already moved on from MonHun since it's been a year with no announcents of Western localization. And Capcom feels they should remind us that there still isn't one...and that they are happy about the current situation.
@Agramonte
I've no problem with these companies trying to make cash out of their old games. Music, book and film Companies do it constantly. Why should these games lay dormant? I think it's something we'll see a lot of on Switch. There's an opportunity for firms to make money out of handheld versions of last gen and older games, a la GBA.
I don't play MH but World seems a long way ahead of XX. Given how much it makes the more powerful systems creak there's surely no way it would run on Switch. Handheld Monhun is still a money making opportunity though Capcom do have a Nintendo like fascination with weird decisions at times. So who knows?
@Luffymcduck my guess at this point is that it didn't sell well on other platforms, which was perhaps because everyone was waiting for the Switch version, ironically enough.
@electrolite77 Well Film companies made a market for their old content (Home Movie) ages ago. Very few Films make it back into Cinema Houses after their initial run. They also alleviate the situation with a relatively low price point. Remastered Games at those media price point will not get as much hate.
They are also masked by a very matured saturated market - there is always something "new" in those markets for most people to notice. It is similar to what happens on PS4/PC.
I even played Monster Hunter Stories on 3DS... and I for one truly liked it. I have no doubt Capcom will bring a new MH to the Switch once the time is right. Maybe in year 3 - install base will probably be well north of 30million and Nintendo's On-line platform would been out for a bit.
@MegaMari0 Gotcha, I always preferred Nintendo myself as well. Experimenting with other consoles can be fun though! If you’re itching to try less “realistic” or “serious” PS4 titles, I highly recommend Gravity Rush and the Jak and Daxter Trilogy.
On a side note, at least Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate just got announced!
@wiggleronacid I know, kicking myself for not waiting.lol. I did like the jak n Dexter series. I will be buying the remastered crash trilogy. I wish they would bring back crash team racing as that was my go to when I couldn't get a hold of mariokart.
