Developer Naps Team has confirmed the Game Boy Advance beat-'em-up Gekido Kintaro's Revenge will be getting a brand new port on Nintendo Switch in March. The new version, which has been retooled to fit Nintendo's shiny new hardware, will feature two-player co-op and a new Relic Hunter mode where you fight through roguelike dungeons in search of (you guessed it) relics.
There's also a new Survival mode included as standard, different graphic modes to choose from and a ton of concept art and character art sketches to peruse in between chaining combos and taking down those hard-hitting bosses. See, not every port is from Neo Geo or Wii U. Some are from GBA, too!
Are you a fan of Gekido Kintaro's Revenge, or is this the first time the brawler has caught your attention? Will you be adding it to your collection in March? Share your thoughts below...

Roadhouse! This looks interesting. I never knew the GBA game.
Awesome, only played the ps1 game, can't wait for this one!
This looks just like the kind of game I'd buy day one. I just hope it's not presented in that letterbox mode.
Played the original on GBA back in the day, it's a cool brawler but let's wait and see the pice
I'm definitely gonna give this a try.
Still looking for a cheap cart of this one
Going by the trailer alone this looks like a very lazy port. The aspect ratio is all kinds of wrong and the filters are ugly as sin.
Switch: home to dozens of "classics" I've never heard of. Feel free to port over TMNT II, III, IV, or Reshelled please. Then I'll have a beat'em up to be excited about.
The Streets of Rage trilogy, Golden Axe trilogy, and Capcom's Knights of the Round are also acceptable.
Edit: thought of some more: X-Men, Simpsons, or Alien vs Predator arcades would also be great!
@Alikan A port of Golden Axe: The Revenge of Death Adder would be superb. I've never played it but man do I want to.
Bad. Ass.
Viva la renaissance!
Looks better than I originally thought: new multiplayer, better cutscenes, and better soundtrack. It has that classic Double Dragon feel with some SNK style sprite works and graphics. Definitely will pick this up soon too.
Count me in. I've been waiting forever to get some GBA titles on a newer system. They never did come to 3DS so, I'll be saving these up once the flood gates are open on Switch.
Please eventually give me a reason to buy Streets of Rage 2 again. I love beat em ups, so I will def get this for the right price.
Heck yeah
Never heard of the game but it looks good. So I'll keep an eye out for this one.
Looks pretty good. I'll have to check it out more closer to release.
@OorWullie It's a phenomenal game and the best Golden Axe game in my opinion. I have it on MAME and it runs great. I'd love to have it on Switch.
Never heard of this one, I played GBA a lot back in the day so I’m not sure how the heck I missed this one. Looks like a game I can get into so I’ll pick this up.
Looks great! It reminds me of Onimusha in a way..
Can't beat the extras they've packed in..
Day one purchase for me.
time to get rid of my gba cart, im with the downloads son
I played this game for a while, it was pretty decent.
@Alikan I couldn't get into Reshelled, something about it just felt wrong.
WiiU had the two D&D Capcom beat-em-ups, so that might be possible...if Capcom ever decides to stop giving Nintendo the cold shoulder
@Asaki I mostly liked Reshelled, but since it was a reskin of the arcade game, it lacked some of the more fun SNES Mode 7 stages which amazingly was more technically advanced than the arcade in several areas. Now that I've got Turtles in Time on my hacked SNES classic its easier to access, but would still love any version of it portable.
Has a Gaia Crusaders feel to it. Love that game
@NinChocolate if only they would port that over!
This looks like it has the potential to be ace. Fingers crossed it isn't overpriced. Certainly willing to give this one a try.
$7.00-$10.00 and I'm sold, unless they plan to add online (ha..ha..)
@Alikan
I'm not sure about this particular game, but most of the neo geo beat em ups were everywhere. Maybe you don't remember the arcades which would have four games. Usually a fighter, sports game, beat em up and something else. I loved those things, but as a kid I lost more quarters by pressing the start button instead of the one used to cycle through the four games. Oh the frustration. Then again it allowed me to play some games I wouldn't have otherwise.
@whanvee my small town arcades only had one NEOGEO arcade and it never had any good games on it. I had the pleasure of playing Metal Slug on its own arcade, was given King of the Monsters 2 on SNES as a present, but other than that I missed out on most NEOGEO/SNK games. On Switch I have Aerofighters 2, Metal Slug 1, X, and 3, as well as Shock Troopers. I'm a brat who only really played mainstream non-SNK brawlers and fighters as a kid so that's what I want as an adult. I do hope this is a great game and anyone that enjoyed it back in the day picks it up, but not for me, sadly.
