The speedrunning community is no doubt already hot on Super Mario Odyssey as we speak, but what about if you just fancy ducking, diving, and jumping like a gamer possessed without the pressure of doing things as quickly as possible?

Well if you're looking to perform some mad jumps with equally mad skills, make sure you give the video above a look-in, as we show you how you can perform some of these insane feats in your very own copy of the game.

Nice, finally touching on the trick jumps.
@Kalmaro and no spoiler in the thumbnail!
B-but the critics and detractors of this game say it requires no skills whatsoever!
But seriously tho, this just illustrates how Mario games can provide lots of fun to gamers with different skill sets.
@BillysBabbles Yup! Some of the tricks I knew but this video covers stuff I hadn't even thought of before. It's good stuff.
I can't even long jump properly so forget about the tricks XD
Dude spoiler alert, I didn't know Mario went to a city.
I use a lot of these. The movement in this game flows so nicely.
@GC-161 Without ruining anything - they organically "gate" the difficulty and "manage" your enjoyment of the gameplay and story by.....
Spoilers (not story ones) maybe

You basically have to beat the game to NEED a good reason to learn these mechanics. The game gets much more platformy and difficult after you beat the "main game." Wayyyy more post-credits content and story and worlds to play, prob takes more time to finish than the initial campaign - main game is like enjoying a story and enjoying the game play itself, using your brain to find stuff, more than skills to beat it...like a Kirby. The post-game is really starting to scratch my platforming challenge itch. I beat the game on Monday, and last night was the first time I had to buckle down and practice techniques and movement strings (some I didn't even knew were in the game). It's amazing. I actually keep dying in a new kingdom in one section (and it doesn't involve a puzzle or platform!) but I won't spoil it. Feels great. Sorry ranting.
I didn’t leave the hat kingdom until I had figured out all cappys “super skills”. The game would not have been as good had I not gone into it with that accomplished
The story is all a tutorial. It gets better after that.
The mechanics is great for beginners and skilled played.
Similar to Mario 64s mashing b over slopes
I absolutely love the ability the shift your direction and momentum with Cappy. That alone adds a new but a depth to 3D Mario.
@Dang69 completely agree. Love it
This looks faster than Sonic Forces!
This was genuinely helpful- I couldn't understand what was going on with those high jumps and this illustrated it perfectly. It's a perfect introduction to these kinds of trick jumps, imo. Thanks!
Your tip for holding down the Y button when doing an air Cappy jump just flipped the light switch on for me. I was wondering why it wouldn’t be consistent; turns out I was simply not understanding the mechanics. Thanks!
This game is ruddy genius.
Alex this video is brilliant! I learned from you the long jump with cappy and now I am blowing past others in the footrace! (used it well in Wooded Kingdom race to jump that long gap!)
Man, I love this game. Post credits is > pre credits (and pre credits blew my mind!) I am at 602 stars and have a long way to go! Will get 100%!! thanks!
@NinChocolate NAh. The game is Amazing without learning all those skills.
Thank you for this video. I’m now able to perform these jumps without any issues. It makes playing the game that much more fun.
