With the rapid expansion of the Switch eShop we're gradually seeing more genres and variety. We've had a few top-down shooters of various styles, for example, and next week Neon Chrome will add itself to the list.
Developed by 10tons Ltd, it's a stylised title with procedural generation; a trailer and details are below.
Neon Chrome is a top-down twin stick shooter with a science fiction setting. Each level is procedurally generated, meaning levels throughout the game will be unique on every play session. The game features intense gunfights, destructible environments, and light role playing elements such as permanent statistics upgrades, better weapons, cybernetic enhancements and different character classes.
Features:
- Shoot through walls, make rooms explode, and obliterate whole floors
- Explore procedural levels with endless variety
- Defeat bosses in hand-crafted boss fights
- Unlock new abilities, enhancements and weapons
- Install enhancements and upgrade your weapons
It'll arrive on 12th October with a confirmed price of $14.99USD for North America. Will you be tempted to give this a try?

It's a good game. Played on mobile, though haven't beaten yet. It's pretty tough. Not sure if I want to double dip yet.
Looks pretty cool but, the ridiculous flood of indie and AAA games this and next month puts so many games under the radar. Alot of devs would probably do better at this point to release their games mid-December or even after the new year.
This one is good, guys.
I've bought it on mobile, the graphics are pretty nice and the action is frantic.
Lots of weapons and perks to equip your hero with, and every class is different from one another.
There's no much sense for me to buy it again on the Switch, but I'm so happy to see the eShop so full of new and old indies, the more the better😀🎉🎊
Twin stick shooters I’m always down for - ever since I discovered Robotron 2084!! I’m in!!
I've been playing this on my phone, but the controls are pretty annoying on that. I'm really excited that it is coming out so soon for Switch.
Huh. I was just playing the game.
It's pretty tough near the start but once you get enough upgrades it becomes fun (and then a little too easy).
@Kalmaro What class do you normally use? I find that assassins generally make the runs easier.
@Fake-E-Lee too much to play, too little money🤣ðŸ˜
Talking about shooters, I've bought Cuphead on my XOne two days ago and it's absolutely fantastic, pretty much difficult but never frustrating in my opinion, the graphics, the tunes and the characters are full of personality and everything has this Steamboat Willie vibe that just that is worth the purchase, it really looks like playing with a 30' cartoon.
I made a wish list just for the indies on the eShop, and out of 30 games I want since the Switch's day one I've only bought 5😆
And the problem is that the eShop games list keeps growing nonstop with games I want🤣🤣🤣
Anyway, while waiting for Mario Odyssey I think I'm gonna grab The Flame In The Flood, in this period procedural roguelikes are my favourite genre, I was interested since when it came out on Xbox store but again, too much games, so I passed.
Now that the Switch suddenly became my favourite indie platform (besides Nintendo games of course) I can't resist to buy these kind of games, I think this console is the perfect fit for roguelikes.
By the way I'm still waiting the release date of Hollow Knight, the "2D-Soulslike", that game must be absolutely amazing.
Looks cool, any kind of multiplayer?
Pretty sure i got this on PS plus played it once never touched it again
A mediocre game in every way.
I'll bite.
Makes me wish Loaded and ReLoaded were rebooted for Switch.
I loved those games.
Hmmm yeah nah. I'm good thanks. I'll save me money for all the goodies coming up it's gonna be a busy few months.
Looks pretty addicting to me, but I have always liked cyberpunk!
Neon Chrome is a pretty cool game
By the same devs as Crimsonland, a game I loved years ago. Basically, this is using the Crimsonland remake engine and is more or less the same game, but with an actual campaign that isn't just "kill all monsters in empty area"
Very cool game indeed.
After playing Nex Machina, all these shooters look generic.
If it has online leaderboards then I'm sold .
"Enjoy being blown to pieces. "
I'm sold.
i have this for pc and can not think of a better fit for a system. This game on a portable system should be a dream. It is great for long play throughs and the proceduraly created levels are perfect for pick up and play on the go. You can get most non boss levels done in under 5 minutes.
