Wow. This is great. So excited.
Edit: I can see you put the super famicom wall paper up. Thanks I just saved all those lovely platinum points.
I miss club nintendo. The new rewards are lame, the discounts are always on games I already own and there is nothing for Switch.
Where's the Wii U rewards? You know what Nintendo, don't bother. They'd only be diarrhea anyway.
I've got that Super Famicom wallpaper. I also got two Samus returns wallpapers yesterday. May as well use my platinum coins as they'll expire otherwise. It's not like there's anything else worth spending them on
Still waiting on those Switch rewards six months later. With what's been added and what I have to use or lose this month, I'll currently be losing a little over 1,100 coins.
Its just not on. Bring back Club Nintendo - it should never have been shut down.
I don't check for an update anymore because if I see "coming soon" one more time I am going to Kool Aid man through the wall (totally rational response)
Themes for platinum coins? Possibly some of the best rewards yet...
Well, at least it's something to spend those expiring coins points on.
@PtM What about it?
My nintendo is really, really bad.
I don't understand the negativity. The coins we build up are gifted as a by-product from a purchase. Yeah, the rewards aren't amazing, but people are literally complaining about something they get for free, with a currency that they also received for free... am I the only one who thinks that's a bit bizarre and smacks of a smidge of entitlement?
My Nintendo is a joke compared to Club Nintendo.
all my gold and platinum points will expire this month. a complete waste as I don't use my 3ds anymore and there is nothing for switch ( still ) I may still spend them anyway just for the sake of it
Every month I have platinum coins expiring which is okay because platinum coins are free but some gold coins expired too and you only get them by buying digital stuff. There are just a few rewards I got from My Nintendo, small discounts for Pikmin 3 DLC and little else. I got a lot of collector's stuff from Club Nintendo.
I hope the rewards for Switch is discount for eShop games, not these useless junk.
There is also a Samus PC/Mobile wallpaper for 50 platinum points and a Metroid: Samus Returns 3DS theme for 20 gold points, if anybody is intetested. ☺
@Nincompoop I welcome the themes anytime. It's always nice to freshen out the 3DS home screen from time to time. I just wish we could get some for the switch.
@AhabSpampurse The purpose of a rewards program like this is to encourage customers to buy more. They get nice little bonuses and feel glad to have spent more than they otherwise might have. Mynintendo is an utter failure in this regard.
Offering small discounts for downloads of games which most of the customers already own (not to mention games which can often be found cheaper in stores) is just pointless for most Nintendo fans.
Also, many people complain because they remember Club Nintendo, which was way better than mynintendo. (True, some people complained about Club Nintendo too but it was most definitely better than this total waste of a rewards program.)
@SLIGEACH_EIRE
"They'd only be diarrhea anyway"
How appropriate. It would match your posts...
Oh man I want that Super Nintendo wallpaper for my phone, I don't have enough coins though.
@Hughesy Save the image.
@BlueOcean
You get gold coins with physical Switch games too. Not many though compared to digital purchases. Don't think many realise this, not that it's really relevant as the scheme is so poor so far.
@NewAdvent I take it that Samus Returns discount is only on the European mynintendo? I might have actually used that, although I'm planning to get it physical.
@GravyThief are you in the UK? Because I can't the Samus ones on there.
@BlueOcean It's pretty low res if you just save that image😉 Turns out I did have enough after collecting rewards I didn't know about
@DavidH Right.
The rewards 10% off the official eShop price are somehow ridiculous.
@PtM Cheers, I found it once before seeing your post, so cheers for the heads up😊
I'm not against having 3DS Themes as rewards because at least you get to use your coins, but those MyNintendo themes are simply ugly looking. With the wealth of artists and illustrators they have, you would think they could produce something more exciting than a sprite of an 8-bit character pasted onto a white screen...
I'm sure if they released a 3DS Theme Maker, people would come up with stuff that would blow the official themes out of the water. So much for "Nintendo quality"...
@AhabSpampurse Discounts are not free. Unless you already intended to, they’re trying to manipulate you into purchasing something you wouldn’t otherwise.
@NewAdvent Ok. Thanks for the link
I may as well grab some themes. My points would just expire otherwise.
@PtM @PtM Already have the collector's edition.
I like the hidden 2nd image, nice touch Darren
@Paddle1 but the ability to acquire the discount is free. No one is forcing you to either acquire coins, or utilise them to save money on a purchase you may or may not make. The incentive therefore in this instance is free.
@timson72 yeah I'm in the UK. I went to My Nintendo site on my phone. Got 2 Samus/Metroid wallpapers. There was also a Samus or Metroid 3DS theme, but that needed Gold coins so I held off on that for now
@tedko but that's my point, they're bonuses. They cost nothing, and are gifted via coins, which you acquire from doing nothing more than purchasing a product.
I agree the system is not as good as Club Nintendo, in any way, shape, or form. I still have a ton of swag from CN days that is heaps better than anything on offer now <I'm looking at you, Dark Moon diorama>.
But being indignant over something you're being offered, which is available for free following a standard retail purchase, is something I'm not comfortable doing. After all, something given has no real value.
Please don't misunderstand me, I'd love the rewards to be better. I buy Nintendo products regularly and have a stack of platinum and gold coins. But as you said, they're just bonuses. I'll keep my fingers crossed that they pull their thumbs out in the future, but my point is I don't think any of us are in a position to demand that.
@GravyThief cheers I'll try that.
