With the latest figures showing that the Switch has sold 4.7 million units worldwide, Nintendo has garnered praise from various corners of the industry. The latest high profile figure to comment on the console's early success is Sony's own Jim Ryan. Speaking to EDGE magazine, the global head of sales and marketing stated that "it’s great that they’re back" and that  "it’s great to see them doing so well".

In the interview Mr Ryan also mentions that “a resurgent Nintendo is just great for the industry on so many levels” before admitting that Sony watch Nintendo's actions "very carefully". He made similar remarks during E3.

The full quote taken from the magazine can be read in full below:

It’s still very early. Many things Nintendo does are so disruptive and different that it takes quite a long time to understand them, and I don’t think we’re at that stage yet with Switch. Like I say, it’s great that they’re back, it’s great to see them doing so well.”

What do you think of Jim Ryan's comments? Do you think the Switch is another 'disruptive' device from Nintendo, as the DS and Wii were?
