The recent update for Pokémon GO is one of its biggest yet, and totally revises the way gyms work in the game. As well as making alterations to how monsters are assigned to a gym, these locations are now home to Raid Battles, which occur periodically throughout the day.
Each Raid Battle only lasts for an hour so serious players need to keep abreast of when and where they're taking place - and that's where the updated GymHuntr site comes in.
This scans any location in the game and tells you of upcoming raids, ongoing raids and basic information about the status of each gym, such as which team is currently holding it and what level of prestige it has.
Niantic has previously taken quite a dim view of apps like GymHuntr, so there's no telling if the company will attempt to shut it down - especially now that the site's new functionality makes it even more useful and the increased traffic could have a negative effect on Pokémon GO's servers. Time will no doubt tell, but right now this is a very useful resource for planning your future raids.

Still yet to indulge in a Raid Battle, but I love the idea of them.
The guys behind the site have managed to slip under Niantic's anti-tracker radar so far, but now that they're getting more attention I doubt they'll be able to get away with it for much longer, which is a shame, as they're pretty handy to have.
@Bunkerneath Click in another location to place the marker... it should update straight away with all nearby gyms, if not, just hit the scan button.
@LegacySmikey This is useful for the raids alone... level 4 raids are the only ones that are really worthwhile, so most people save their free raid pass for them, and tend to gather at them when they appear.
But if a level 4 raid appears out of range of you (can easily happen in my town, as the gyms are quite spread out) then you can easily miss it, and there will be less people left to do later raids, lowering your chance of success... GymHuntr completely solves this problem.
I feel Niantic made an announcement that implied you shouldn't use apps like this and may ban you if caught.
