During the Nintendo Switch Nindie Showcase there was the first reveal of Flipping Death, the next title from Zoink Games. The studio is well known among Wii U eShop aficionados for Stick it to the Man, and this new title certainly shares some aesthetic similarities. We chatted to Zoink CEO and Creative Director Klaus Lyngeled about the title shortly after the reveal, and it certainly seems intriguing.
Now Zoink has kindly given us an early look at a Q & A video on the game, in which Lyngeled and Community Manager Alexandra Dahlberg answer some fan questions on the concept, gameplay and broader Nintendo Switch features. There's also confirmation that physical copies are on the agenda, which is good news for fans of inedible cartridges; further Switch releases are once again outlined, too, with the studio looking into options with ports and the upcoming Fe.
Check it out below:
And if you want to see more, we played a bit of the game recently at Rezzed.
Is this one on your Switch eShop wishlist?

It is a novel idea. It could be flipping great.
FE!? THE FE!? Omg, I'd happily buy it on Switch over PS4! Gimme gimme gimme!
Their games look really awesome. Love the art styles. Def on my wish list.
This is one of the indies from the Initial presentation that I really, really like the look of.
I'm not able to watch the video at the moment - any news on a release date?
Yes the artstyle is very nice. Im looking forward to it. Hope it plays well.
Had a ton of fun playing Stick It To The Man, so I'm definitely looking forward to this one.
Not entirely sold on this, but I'll keep an open mind.
Physical copies on the agenda!
The style of this game makes for great boxart.
If I'd see this in a store I couldn't leave without a copy.
One of the Nindie showcase games that left me most curious, Flipping Death is certainly on my radar. Gives me some Ghost Trick vibe and ppromises a fun story with Tim Burtonesque visuals. :3
Yep this piqued my interest in the Nindies trailer. Stick it to the Man was pretty good fun so I'll be getting this.
This looks really interesting. One of the handful of indies really stepping up and offering something new using some ideas that never went fully explored in the latter Sega early PSX era that ended before their time. It seems like an extension of the Toejam & Earl 2, Oddworld etc of "sophisticated platformer" that kind of ended before it began in favor of the N64 style collect-a-thon. That interests me. 2D gameplay was broadly abandoned for 3D graphics without revisiting what can be done with 2D gameplay.
More importantly, this is yet another indie discussing physical releases. In my neandertal brain a physical game is a "real" game, and a download-only game is a "budget generic-brand game". So far, Switch feels like it's the official platform for making indies "real game studios" instead of mere 'indies' again, a return to their rightful place before they were cast out in the industry fallout of the early 2000'.....that alone is worth the price of admission on Switch. More games than "whatever says EA, Ubi, Activision, or Warner on the box."
I hope they and other devs are able to discuss physical plans at launch as I'd gladly preorder and wait for physical on many of these!
The more physical games announced the better. Stick it to the man was a really fun game too, so will be picking this up on release.
This company make extremely average games. Zombie Vikings is just plain bad and Stick it to the Man was just "ok". This one looks almost identical to Stick it to the Man. I don't see anything higher than a 6, maybe a 7 at best.
I do want this game. When is it getting released? Has a release date actually been announced?
Was very pleasantly surprised by Stick It To The Man so definitely picking this up when it's out. Just hope it doesn't make me laugh too loud on the train
Their art style is like directly from Double Fine's games.
@audiobrainiac Glad to hear it!
@AcridSkull No release date set quite yet, sorry! We'll keep you posted
@Ogbert If we embarrass you on the train, our job is done.
@NEStalgia Definitely agree that there's still a lot to explore in the 2D world (or in this case, 2,5D). Hope you'll enjoy the game, boxed or not !
@EternalDragonX Hope you'll like Flipping Death better, if you happen to try it out at some point
@DarthFoxMcCloud No release date quite yet! Still trying to figure out how much time is needed for polishing.
