The Ghouls 'n Ghosts-inspired 2D platformer Battle Princess Madelyn has beaten its initial Kickstarter funding goal and has already surpassed several of its stretch goals - and the campaign has only been active for five days.
Causal Bit's arcade adventure had a starting target of CA$ 60,000 and at the time of writing has raised CA$ 107,908. Stretch goals already achieved include an arcade mode, boss rush mode, additional levels, more characters and extra side-quests. The two remaining stretch goals are for a new level ($125,000) and PS Vita version ($150,000).
The game is confirmed for the Nintendo Switch and Wii U and will launch early next year, alongside PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One editions.

The game doesn't look very interesting to me, though I gotta say this is a good father making a game just because his daughter wanted to be in Ghosts N Goblins.

It should reach all its goals,it's not too much to ask for when it's already reached 107 thousand and no doubt will probably come out as a cross-buy game with ps4 and Vita like most indie games on ps4. Anyway I must say it's looking good and hopefully the game plays like a dream

This trailer is more interesting than the prior one. Instead of being 8-bit/16-bit clone it looks more like "What if G&G was on the 32-bit systems?" with more of a hand-drawn style. It's looking good.

Good on the guy for meeting the goal but wow, it's an unapologetic clone game. At least make it your own like say a Shovel Knight. I could have made a sprite swap ROM hack for his daughter in a weekend without needing kickstarter funding. There's a lot about this that I'm not entirely sure I support. Plus pulling the heartstrings with "daddy girls can't be knights". Give me a break.

Backed it for Wii U a few days ago. I can't wait to play it, it looks amazing. I love Super Ghouls & Ghosts, and the story behind it was really charming.

Talk of a Wii U version has made me weary of this Kickstarter. Too many other Kickstarters have cancelled the Wii U version for me to trust this one.

@Yorumi Yeah I agree I want more indies to focus on games such as Yooka-Laylee. The novelty of these retro games (in my opinion) has worn away.

I used to see black friday deals on Vita cards a few years ago....replaced one of them that outright failed on me that way (yes, the $10,000 4GB memory card failed...I've never had another memory card fail.) I never bought in over the 8GB cards though. I buy primarily physical, so I don't need too much memory. I have the entire collection of all 12 Vita retail games!
Now that Switch is real, I'm not sure Vita memory is going to matter very much Mine is still upside-down on its cradle on the floor under my Switch.

I bought my 16G memory card for vita at £29 it was on sale,it should have been £35. It's a rip off. ? I just checked the Vita sites and this game has now popped up,also its stretch goal has gone up,this site said 107 but it's just gone up to 109.looks like the Vita boys will take this all the way. I could play it on my wii u but it would be better on the go,but tbh I don't like platformers so I won't buy it anyway

Despite a few visuals elements that don't look quite right to me, some of more "shadery" and lighting-based stuff for example (they look a bit "off" and misplaced with the generally low-res retro pixel art look that the game is going for), I think this is looking like it could be really great. It's definitely one to watch.
This is a flat out clone. Saying it's inspired by Ghouls N Ghosts is an understatement
The game is indeed inspired by GnG, but the dev says it's aiming for a Metroidvania, havimg more in common with Wonder Boy 3: The Dragon's Trap.
It's a Pre-Alpha build with a lot of work ahead of it, so right now the "arcade" feel of it is stronger since the rest of the gameplay mechanics and content has yet to be implemented.
