One of the more anticipated titles in the Switch launch window lineup is that of Blaster Master Zero. The upcoming run 'n' gun is looking to revitalize the retro classic for a new audience, adding heaps of new content and support for modern features, like HD Rumble. It launches in just a couple days, and for those of you that'd prefer playing it with a slightly more conventional controller, Inti Creates has got you covered.
An irate fan recently took to Twitter and called out the developer for not putting in Pro Controller support, but the company quickly replied that it's being worked on. While it wasn't able to commit to having it there immediately at launch, it seems as though the wait for the update wouldn't take much longer.
What do you think? Are you getting Blaster Master Zero? Does Pro Controller support matter much to you? Drop us a comment in the section below.

Would like a Demo, then would see
"Does Pro Controller support matter much to you?"
Yes. I won't buy games that doesn't support the Pro Controller, unless the game needs double Joy-Con motion control inputs.
@BornInNorway81 I'm indifferent, same with the Wii U Pro. I was surprised by how comfortable the joy-con grip is. Still, this game looks awesome, just what I was looking for for my Switch library.
A D-pad is crucial for a game like this at least to me. The young ones seem to get on fine with analogue controls for 2d games but old timers like me rely on traditional controls .Seems like a strange oversight to not include Pro support in the first place.
I thought with the Switch it was a no brainer that every game, except touchscreen only games or gesture type games, would have pro controller support because the controls are identical to the joycons!
Pro controller is fantastic by the way but with Zelda and FAST I am also a fan of playing with the joycons loose in each hand as it is quite liberating haha
I keep hitting home instead of plus in zelda on my pro controller lol
Im totally buying blaster master day 1 anyway, it looks AMAZETASTIC! I nearly bought the JP version just now but I can wait 2 more days... I guess... If I really have to... ah bugger it...
I have been playing Shovel Knight with the Joycon buttons and I have to admit, I don't mind it. I know its not a proper D-Pad but it does work quite well. I have opted out of getting the pro controller as I did not like the idea of having different controls for the same game, depending on if its docked or not.
I like the fact that regardless of if I am portable or on the TV, its the same controls.
No pro controller support is unacceptable in a "normal style" game (aka not 1-2 switch and the less we have of those type of games the better). With how expensive it is and how much they cram down our throat it's that expensive because it has all the same stuff in it, I expect games to work with it. The WiiU gamepad was a little different because it had a screen, but even then it wasn't ok. I remember being so disheartened when Tokyo Mirage Sessions required the gamepad. The joy cons are basically a normal controller so pro controller support should be a must.
Picking this up Day 1. Pro support is welcome, not that I've bought a controller yet.
Whilst not essential, I much prefer my 2D games with a d-pad and the Pro controller's is classic high quality Nintendo so yeah I do want this patch.
Now all Nintendo has to do is release a left joycon with a d-pad instead of the 4 left buttons for single player portable mode.
Why not, it is an official controller that is supported by Nintendo.
@SwitchVogel
When is the European download update coming? It's a day late.
I'm not going to lie - I'm not totally happy with this and hope it's not a trend. If you're going to release a Pro Controller I think every game should be required to work with it, unless it can't be done.
The Pro Controller has all the same button inputs as two Joy-Con so why does it need to register it as something completely different? ...and why does it need additional programming to get it working? Doesn't make much sense to me.
Snipperclips can be played one player, but you can't play with your Pro Controller. You have to take one Joy-Con out and use that (even though a Pro Controller would be much more comfortable).
@Moon I didn't know that.What about if you want to play solo on the handheld,is it not possible?
@Fuz Fair play to you fellow veteran. I've tried many a time but it just doesn't feel natural to me.It's like I lose all my platforming skills I've earned over the years. Although admittedly,they're on the wane
I'll play any game with any available controller choice I have. Adapting to a new controller won't take anymore than an hour or so of practice and the Joy-con themselves are very comfortable. Shovel Knight isn't a nightmare to play with them.
That being said, devs need to give players choice whenever possible. So a day one patch is definitely within their best interests.
There's no reason a game like this shouldn't support the Pro Controller, since it's capable of nearly everything the Joy-Cons can aside from dual-motion sensors or the IR sensor.
It wouldn't be a deal breaker though, but the option is absolutely desired.
And here I am just wondering how the game got an "E" rating with the main character laying down some "damns" and "hells".
@OorWullie It's strange - if you want to play Snipperclips solo, it works just fine in handheld mode with the two Joy-Con attached... but if you want to play on TV you have to use one singular Joy-Con. No Pro-Controller support. Unless I'm missing something...
This game just keeps getting better and better. Although I have to say I could care less about a Pro Controller. Didn't need one on the Wii U because the GamePad was awesome and don't need one with the Switch because the grip is awesome too.
This is one of the problems with Nintendo, they come out with umpteen different controllers and half of them are not supported.
@OorWullie
Amen!
@halljames
Agreed, I just rather get a second pair of colored Joy-Cons later this year. I tried Shovel Knight and WakuWaku7 with the Joycon "d-pad" and was pulling off precise movements, special moves, and diagonals with ease.
Blaster Master Zero and all 2D games will play more than fine with the Joycons alone for me.
Wait, so games still need to support the Pro Controller on Switch, it doesn't just work once paired with the system??? Also, at first, I read that to mean the WiiU Pro controller, which I still wish could pair with the Switch...
Every single game released on the console should have ProCon support lol — Would be 100% inexcusable to not have it.
Switch developers that initially don't even think about the Pro controller and want to make you play using those horrible Switch controllers... the situation is going to be ugly, just like Wii U.
Hopefully the Azure Striker Gunvolt version 1.3 update is coming up someday as well from Inti Creates.
