In early November Nintendo broadcast a Miitopia Direct in Japan, which lifted the lid on the quirky Mii-centric RPG adventure on 3DS. With various tropes of the genre, it throws in typically peculiar Mii features and populates the adventure with characters found on your device. You could try and team up with Mr. T, Dalai Lama and Einstein, just like you've always wanted to.
It's out on 8th December in Japan, and now Nintendo has published an extended showcase video for the game. Check it out below.
Is this a title that you hope will be localised to the West? Let us know in the comments.

But I want it.

Everything so far looks great and (no offense, everybody) I wouldn't be surprised if this game gave NOA and NOE a very hard time to localize this game due to the text and such. Judging by all the weird stuff in the trailer, the game is guaranteed an Everyone 10+ ESRB rating at the least, and I don't mind it for one bit, honestly.
A few things I am hoping Miitopia delivers are...
1) Customization Options
Yes, virtually any Mii game is sure to have customization of some sort, but I want there to be more than enough options than what's been seen in the trailer and the preview software (thanks, Nintendaan). What if I want a School Uniform costume, as well as a Boxer and Football Player costumes of sorts? If Miitopia can bring back most clothes and such from Miitomo, I would be amazed.
There's also the fact that amiibo can be scanned to get more costumes, but it would've been nice if more amiibo are supported; from what I heard from somewhere, Palutena, Shulk, Wario, Waluigi, Bowser Jr., Fox, Falco, and even Villager aren't supported. I am hoping they eventually get added via update as Nintendo did with Mario Kart 8. I also want Mega Man, Ryu, and Pac-Man costumes, but I ain't holding my breath since those aren't characters Nintendo owns.
2) Good Overworld gameplay
The one major body organ of any RPG to me is the overworld, in which the player explores freely for monsters, treasures, and even hidden areas. The only things I've seen in the trailer are the Miis wandering through a linear path whilst talking amongst themselves, as well as one of them occasionally tripping on the ground for another to pity them of sorts. I'm not expecting anything like the platform-happy Mario RPGs or open world like Xenoblade, but one thing I am hoping for Miitopia is to give us control on what we want to do in areas we enter, whether it be choosing to engage a monster in battle or finding a treasure chest in the open.
And finally, the most important aspect of any RPG for me...
3) The Battle System and Friendship system
This one had me very worried at first and it still worries me now, even more so than the previous two I mentioned. I know for one that the Miis still have a list of spells/abilities to choose from (YES!!) to spend their MP on, so that's a good sign. There's a lot of things that worries me about this battle system that I find hard to describe, but one main thing I'm concerned with is the depth of the battle system. I want to do more than what any average joe RPG lets me do. In fact, I see that some Miis have a set of fruit icons below the MP gauge. What's up with those?
As for the Friendship System, as much as I want to say that this is an innovative feature (from what I've seen in my gaming life), I have...mixed feelings about it. Having good friendship will lead to more powerful attacks whereas otherwise, it would only bring the team down. One thing I am hoping for Miitopia is not taking very long to build up Friendship gauges for the Miis. I don't mind putting aside a few minutes to take side trips or doing optional things in any game, but I am hoping building up friendships won't be tedious. The Neptunia games strangled me to doom with that feature and I don't want that to be the same case for Miitopia. If Nintendo delivers on the battle system and the Friendship system, I will be very happy.
And...that pretty much wraps of things I want in Miitopia. All this sounds too farfetched, I'll admit, but the reason I've been doing this is because a Mii RPG is what I've been dreaming of since the release of the 3DS and I want that game to be that dream of mine. I could care less about the story, dialogue, and such, but I just want that Mii RPG to be something truly special. I want it to succeed and I want it to be the best Mii game ever made, and Miitopia has that potential.
Please, Nintendo. Please deliver on this game. I'm begging you.
I find this really fun and interesting to look at, hopefully this will get a western release.
Gosh... Faceless curse is the creepiest thing on Miitopia.
Second, what is Cat job benefit ?
Third, Gosh... I can befriend or be mean with my partner ? Such a drama... XD
Wait, did somebody say Einstein, Dalai Lama ?
