Following hot on the heels of the announcement of Pokémon GO's first event, Niantic has opted to put out another update for the popular monster catching game. This update doesn't really change much, mostly affecting cosmetic parts of the game, but it's nonetheless welcome.
The biggest change is that eggs will now be a different color based upon how far one must walk to hatch them. Additionally, Pokémon type icons are now displayed on the info screen for each Pokémon, and a low battery indicator has been added for the Pokémon GO Plus accessory. We're sure you're all jumping for joy at these changes, but Niantic can't be too far off from implementing bigger changes like trading and battling. R-Right?
What do you think? Are you glad to see these minor changes? When do you think Niantic will add in something more substantial? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
Honestly, they should be focusing almost all of their attention to keeping players informed on updates in development, and working on much bigger updates like trading, battling, Gen 2 etc., not these tiny updates
Yes, because we had no way of knowing that before. Nevermind the letters that said 2km, 5km and 10km right underneath them.
Comments I expect: Round 2
"Yeah Gen 1 baby!"
[del]"I stopped playing a long time ago. Seriously, this isn't going to revive Niantic's dead game."[del]
"This update is pure rubbish. Niantic should be working on Gen II Pokémon and trading!"
Edit: To add something productive, someone went into Go's files and found some data for Daily Quests with a possible reward being Incubators!
Edit 3: This site has the worst formatting.
Come on, Niantic, give me a reason to play again. Changing the color of an egg won't do it. There are so many missed opportunities and botched mechanics in this game. Knowing it could be something much greater than it is but they choose to fiddle around with little aesthetic things instead is frustrating. I don't care about eggs or walking five kilometers for a single candy. I want to track the pokemon down before they despawn and trade and stuff. Do they not have the money or staff to implement these things? Why not? :/
@Crimzonlogic 1 down, 2 to go. Thank you very much for your service.
I'm shocked that this and the 3DS update are the only two updates NL has posted about yet; Hyrule Warriors Legends is getting its final DLC update, the Link Between Worlds Pack, on Oct. 31!
@Mega_Yarn_Poochy Is it wrong to want the game to be better than it is? There's no need to mock.
@Crimzonlogic I successfully tracked down a Pikachu yesterday, which I didn't have yet, just by changing directions and see how the nearby Pokémon indicator changed. So in a way it works, but I guess you want it to be easier. So you're more a collector than a hunter
This is awesome, we should have bingo cards for these Pokemon Go articles!
Oh, and here you go, mate - https://www.nintendolife.com/forums/help/helpful_tips_for_formatting_messages
I wish we had a way to influence which eggs we get from pokéstops.
That's alright, but I'd much prefer some kind of tracking feature.
@Mega_Yarn_Poochy uh, gen 1 baby...?
@Anti-Matter That's what my friend thought as well!!!
@MegaMari0 Nope. Only he can say it.
@Waninoko 👍 Thank you my good sir/madam.
@Crimzonlogic No, there's nothing wrong with wanting more from this game. Sorry, it's just the amount of pure, unadulterated toxicity I've seen around this game is insane.
Remember, it's just our opinions. Don't think too much about them, life's too short for that.
Were they ever going to fix any tracking issues? Or are they just hoping everyone has forgotten about that and moved on?
I also noticed that:
They changed the font used for numbers into a bold type which makes it actually more confusing to read (for me, at least)
Now there's a glowing effect when loading pokemon models
You can now swipe down from the top to close pages. Which is very annoying since it is too sensitive and also redundant because the "close" botton was enough and easy to reach
The app seems more inclined to stutter as opposed to the smoothness it had lately
Most importantly, they changed the speed/ physics of the throw, and personally i find this the most unwelcome change, since the ball flies slower with a floaty delay.
The original games are superior to Pokemon GO, and they were made 20 years ago!
They had to focus on new promised feature not on those thing, plus they made me almost stop from playing; two weeks ago they have remapped the pokemon spawning point in my place, so when I go out with my dog on evening i usally catch 3-5 pokemon and 2 pokestop in 5km, now i get 0-1 pokemon and 2 pokestop and that is the only time I can play so what you think, can I continue to play?
How about an update where you can actually buy a pokemon go plus?
@Makyurax 2 down, 1 to go... Where is he?
@Tempestryke I guess you can now tell immediately when you receive the egg rather than having to check in the menu.
This is not welcome... it is just a waste of their time.
They should be concentrating on important things like the tracker rather than pointless aesthetic novelties.
This update also reduced the candy distance for some pokemon, e.g. Magikarp is now 0.25 km instead of 1 km per candy. Unless that was an older update and I just didn't notice
@Dogorilla I think that's temporary specifically for the halloween event. Plus it's getting cold(in US East Coast) and nobody wants to walk that long lol
