Bravely Second: End Layer is about a month away in Europe, and was recently confirmed for a 15th April arrival in North America. After the first title's success in the West Square Enix will no doubt be hoping to repeat the trick.
As is often the case with titles like these Nintendo is assisting with marketing distribution; to that end it's published a localised story trailer to set the scene, and it has a few rather humorous lines. Take this rather harsh setup from the villain, for example.
Peace? Harmony? Order? I deny your world, and everything in it!
...With your power I shall deny this world!
Then we have a rather obvious play on words.
...and it's time to bust some Ba'als!
Check it out below.

For the gravy!
Yesyesyesyesyesyesyes and mega yes. Take my money now.
Hopefully no Autosave game corruption like the first game had, lost so many save due to corruption I just gave up playing the first game.
Haha the voice acting is even cheesier than in the first game and I'M SO EXCITED OH MY GOD!
@MarinoKadame Autosave corruptions? I played the hell out of that game and never even heard of such a thing. Are you sure it wasn't just on your system or cartridge?
i just played fire emblem awaking for the first time and finished the game within few day !! addiction and it was y first fire emblem game ever .... made me a big fan
i just got the first game for 50$ new here in kuwait at some retail since i liked fire emblem and it looks like it a lot ... still over priced for kinda old games
hopefully ill finish with the game before the 2nd one comes to the US ...
Is that Cam Clarke as the villain? Amazing! Can't have a cheesy English dub without him (I mean that in the best way possible; he's great, haha)!
I still find those character models weird for some reason, but this definitely looks good so far!
Looks awesome! But why Gerome (FEAwakening) is the main villain?
@World I honestly can't stand him and have no idea why he seems to be in everything I play. No matter the character he's playing or what they're saying, all of his lines sound exactly the same. It's just a monotonous kind of cheese I can't bring myself to enjoy. His is one of the only two voices I disliked in Devil Survivor 2 Record Breaker, for example - the dub for that one was mostly fantastic. To make matters worse, going by the Sm4sh trailer he's also voicing Corrin, so hopefully Fates will include a dual audio option.
But different strokes for different folks and all that, I guess.
@LinkSword To be absolutely fair though, I like him in a "omg this is the cheesiest" kind of way. He just suits games where everyone is yelling their attacks and being over the top.
That said, I...can't imagine he'd fit in Devil Survivor...? o_o
@World He plays Ronaldo Kuriki in that one, who to be fair is as cheesy and naive as a guy fighting for an ideal can get [my least enjoyed character in the game, actually], but even then his acting seemed to bring down the character further somehow.
Anyway, though, I can see how he could be enjoyed that way by others, and I suppose Bravely is a more lighthearted experience so it probably fits the bill a tad better.
I don't know if I want this game. Bravely Default had absolutely amazing gameplay, but I hated the second half of the story. Calling it repetitive would be an understatement. Think I'll wait to buy this one until after I see some user reviews or something.
@aniki7 You took the words right out of my mouth. Plus I was not a fan of the fact that there was ZERO exploration of those beautiful cities and that all the dungeons were just birds eye view mazes. I was hoping it would be more like FF9 in both aspects.
This is a day 1 buy and play for me. I often buy games but I'm not in the "mood" to play them right away. It's nice having a choice of what I want to play. However, I loved Bravely Default and put in 100+ hours into that gem. This is my most anticipated 3DS game this year and my second game overall (behind Zelda Wii U). My Ba'als are tingly!!!
@invictus4000 Oh man those dungeons. It's genius that they let you change your encounter rate but after that first half there's no reason to raise it above 0%. Unless you're grinding and then you can just auto-battle every fight to level up. So even when you have to go backtracking there's no fun/danger to it.
Bravely Second absolutely needs to have more varied content for me to want it. Hopefully the demo will be a good indicator of what to expect.
Must...refrain...from using caps from excitement....
Can anyone clarify to me what's going on in this trailer? So there's a new main villain who teamed up with Airy? And the main squad is Tiz, Edea, Magnolia, and that other dude? Or are there other parties? I'm a bit concerned if you have to balance like 3 teams at once.
Still haven't played the first so I'll have to do that soon. Been looking online and unopened collectors is like 120 so RIP wallet.
The villain strongly reminds me of Relius from Blazblue, with that hair and mask. This game seriously comes out in April? I've been putting off playing Bravely Default for too long now. I guess I've been playing too much monster hunter.
ow boy...this is gonna be a good one...cant wait
Looks amazing, I can't wait. Hopefully none of that boring and repetitive end game stuff this time.
