We recently reported on a rumour which seemed to suggest that Nintendo is currently working on a HD remake of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess for the Wii U.
Since then, dataminers have discovered references to other titles, including Super Mario Galaxy, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword and Metroid: Other M. It's worth noting however that none of these have "HD" fixed to them, which would indicate that they are standard Wii re-releases on the Wii U eShop, as opposed to totally updated offerings.
You can view the list in which these references appear - along with Twilight Princess HD - here. Yes, this is an official Nintendo database but it's still worth taking such information with a pinch of salt - it's a long way from being a solid confirmation of impending release.
What's your take on these listings? Let us know by posting a comment.

Never played Other M so can't wait to try it, and never played Twilight Princess either
If TP HD is true, then I'm definitely snapping it up! It's my favourite Zelda of all time. Skyward Sword can jog on and I never played Other M so might give it a go. I'm not a big Metroid fan, so I don't think the "character development" will bother me that much.
That's good. but I have all three physical copies so I see no need to double dip. unless they came as HD remasters at $29.99-$39.99.
Speaking of remasters Nintendo has only done 1 HD remaster for the WiiU. How would you guys like seeing some GC, 64, and Wii titles remastered for the WiiU and NX.
I would love to see a games like Luigi's Mansion, Baten Kaitos 1 and origins, Eternal Darkness, Galaxy 1 & 2, many more in HD with extra content.
I'm a classic Metroid fan and Other M was a real joy to play. When I first finished playing it, I rushed online to join in mirth of fellow players, but was amazed to see that people actually even hated it. Being one of of the worst Metroid games doesn't mean it would be bad
Very curious about the Twilight Princess HD, that would be a nice surprise from Nintendo, making up for the pushing back of their hit titles...
With the exception of Other M (blech), the rest sounds good.
Is no one gonna mention Mappy-land or Pac-land?
@Omenapoika People hated cause because they gave Samus some emotion. I enjoyed as well but I think everybody is over exaggerating it being a terrible game.
Twilight Princess HD is baffling. You can play it on your Wii U already. People moan about the amount of remasters and HD collections but those are always games you can't play on the system without the remaster. This is the first time I've seen it done in a way that is so obviously meant to make us buy the same game twice. It's not like Twilight Princess is hard to get either. So strange.
Hopefully we will one day see Excitebots on the e-shop.
It was never released here in Europe, and I would really like to try it.
It would just make so much sense, if Nintendo released such games on the e-shop.
@Peach64
I guess if you could play HD graphic TP but with Game Cube controls (sans wiimote), it would interest people?
I really don't see the point of making Wii titles available as downloads, as all of these can be purchased relatively cheaply. Fire Emblem, that's a different matter as it's quite rare and pricey so I'd welcome that one.
And as for TP HD - really?? It's only last gen and can be played on the Wii U. Wind Waker made sense but I cannot understand the excitement for TP HD. The only good thing would be to play it using the Pro Controller.
What I would love to see more than anything else is GC titles and more N64. The N64 VC has been seriously neglected and I'd love a chance to play F-Zero GX and Sunshine again.
@Peach64
Well I do have the TP on GC but I wouldn't mind a HD remaster only because I'm playing my GC collection (sunshine, Luigi mansion, Baten Kaitos anfd others) and while I still enjoy them. Playing them on a HD Tv is Fulgy. It gets to distracting at times when everything looks so blurry it hurts my eyes. Nintendo can greatly benefit from this if they chose the right titles and stop the droughts
There's quite a few other VC games on the list too such as the DS Zelda's, Super Mario 64 DS, Star Fox 64, Mario Kart 64, Mario Strikers Charged and a few more.
As for Twilight Princess HD, I'm excited now. I was nearly going to replay it 2 weeks ago but a HD remaster would be very nice. Ocarina, Majora's Mask and Wind Waker have all had remakes now so Twilight Princess feels left out.
@Damo Mario Galaxy as a Wii downloadable title is not a rumor, it's a fact:
https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2015/05/super_mario_galaxy_out_now_on_the_wii_u_eshop_in_japan
@Peach64 Lots of people had issues with Link being right handed and the map being the mirror image of what it should be in the Wii version while the GC version is correctly left handed and the map is correct. Still, I think the main reason this exists is to soften the blow when they announce Zelda U is NX exclusive.
I hope this is true. Skyward Sword is one of my favorite games of all time!
@MarvinTheMartian
Because TP looks so bad in modern TVs. Skyward sword is still decent looking. Plus Zelda sells.
I want some GC remasters though like Luigi's Mansion, Sunshine, Path of Radiance, Eternal Darkness and some great games I've missed. As for Wii VC releases, I want Pikmin 1&2, Skyward Sword, Other M and SM Galaxy.
@Mr_Rawky I was shocked to see the negative reactions online after I played the game. I mean, it isn't perfect, but it's nowhere near as bad as people make it out to be. Turns out, there's actually plenty of people that enjoyed the game, most don't talk about it unless you ask them about it, because everyone knows that only mentioning the name of the game is sometimes enough to trigger a cascade of negative reactions.
@Mr_Rawky
Other M is a real treat of a game, if you manage to ignore the story bits for the most part. From a gameplay perspective it's everything 2D metroid fans could wish for.
@RedYoshi999 I played through Wind Waker a mere week before its HD remake was officially announced. I don't regret it; the differences were easier to identify, and more appreciable.
Still confused as to why Galaxy 2 showed up before of Galaxy 1...
@TheAceofMystery other m is an awesome game so underrated
@Peach64 I agree 100%!
If digital versions come out for the other games though, I would download Skyward Sword as it's one of the only Zelda games I haven't played.
I never have understood the hate for Other M. I think it plays great, though Prime is still my favorite. The story gets a little...odd for me though.
@dres Excitebots is so much fun. One of my favorite Wii games.
Other M's gameplay was fantastic but the story was unbearably bad. I mean, what was with that final boss fight?
Nice to read all the good comments about Other M, I bought it clearance at Target a few years ago for $4.98 but never played it, keep meaning to, but something else always seems to come along and everyone seemed to hate it. Now maybe I'll be inspired.
As for these listings, just b/c Nintendo INTENDS to do something, doesn't mean they ever will. Too many issues w/ them these days to believe anything they, or anyone else says, is going to happen. I do really want Super Mario Sunshine in HD though, have for years. I can't imagine that wouldn't sell well at almost any price. Too bad they couldn't remake Starfox Adventures in HD, and maybe, ya know, add in a jump button. I'll deal w/ Tricky again for blue HD Krystal fur.
No surprise on Super Mario Galaxy, it's already in the Japanese eShop for a few months now. Still hoping we'll see the New Play Control Pikmin games and a localised version of the Chibi Robo NPC game from Japan - surely that should be easily done?
This rumor is truly epic!!! Hope it turns out to be true.
It always makes me happy to see other gamers who appreciate Metroid:Other M. That's my 2nd favorite Wii game just behind Trackmania.
This would be nice if true. Skyward Sword is one of the few Zelda games I still don't have (along with Four Swords since I didn't have a 3DS yet when that was given out for free in Europe, and they're surprisingly not selling it on the eshop). However, I might hunt for a physical Skyward Sword instead.
Other M is something I might check out after I've got round to playing all the other Metroid games, and I already have Mario Galaxy and Twilight Princess.
Last I remember, Other M can be had for dirt cheap used, so curious how Nintendo would price the digital copy.
Other M is a waste of time - you can buy it dirt cheap, so the inevitable £18 price tag makes it quite out of touch. Fire Emblem indeed would be a good choice. What annoys me most about Wii games on the Wii U VC is that most don't work with the gamepad and switch to Wii mode.
I'd love TP HD, especially if they get it out soon. It would be aa nice gesture to tide us over until the main Wii U installment. Skyward Sword is probably the Wii's best visual game and best showcase for the Wii mote, but as if most Wii U owners won't already have it.
Man. The first time I've ever seen so many people speaking kindly about other M... which I also loved!!
Oddly, I'm just feeling happy that some big news is finally being talked about, but it baffles me too. Roughly between the time-span of the release of Skyward Sword and Zelda U, Nintendo will have remade EVERY 3D Zelda game that came before them. It's just so excessive, and it's going to take a lot from Nintendo to convince me to buy it (meaning I probably won't).
i wouldnt mind getting a TP HD remaster but i wonder if they would consider adding anything new it? but honestly nothing else they release this holiday will matter to me because all im going to play is Xenoblade X!!!
@Peach64 i agree that this Wii digital re-release is pointless especially with the Wii U being backwards compatible but you also cant only bring the "remaster" hammer down on Nintendo because they have only done it w/ Wind Waker and that game was about 10 years old at the time. Definitely a big difference from 2013 PS3 Last of us and the 2014 PS4 Last of us and be honest Last of Us on PS3 was already visually incredible and the music by Gustavo Alfredo Santaolalla is already emotionally evocative so what was the point of that re-release?
@rjejr LOL! i also got Other M at discount 2 years ago for like $10! i played through about 5 hours and i like it but the controls take some getting used to though but for that price i personally cant complain and of course Super Metroid reigns supreme.
There's also other N64, GBA, and DS VC releases on there too, including the one due to release this week in Europe.
Some of the titles found include:
-Star Fox 64
-1080 Snowboarding
-Ace Attorney
-Sonic Advance
-Super Mario 64 DS
-Zelda Phantom Hourglass
-Pokemon Ranger
-Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Red & Blue Rescue Team (they were oddly one listing rather than separate)
-Mario Kart 64
-New Super Mario Bros Wii
-Mario Strikers Charged
-Mario Super Sluggers
-Zelda Skyward Sword
-Wario Land Shake It
-Super Paper Mario
-Metroid Other M
Didn't see Spirit Tracks on there. On a side note, there's no US listing for Metroid Zero Mission, Xenoblade Chronicles, DKCR, or Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon.
I was kinda surprised that SMG2 was released before the first game, so it's nice to see it might still make it. As for Skyward Sword, I couldn't feel more indiffent about it.
They should just get rid of Other M altogether. A tumblr-version of Metroid that lacks even the most basic levels logic and game design really shouldn't gain any attention - we have enough Metroid mockery to deal with as it stands.
@liljmoore People hated Other M because the entire game made no sense, and heavily contradicted almost everything the Metroid franchise established. And Samus has no emotions in Other M anyway (at least not more than in any other Metroid games), just delusional outbursts of monologues.
@WanderingPB " but the controls take some getting used"
That's scaring me off more than the emotional stuff. I hesitated buying it day 1 b/c it's Wiimote only and you have to turn it. Too bad somebody didn't tell them about the nunchuck while they were making the game. Too bad they coudln't patch it in later. Lair (dragon flying by motion controls) on PS3 had horrific controls until they patched in normal ones.
And yes, pretty much everything else will have to wait until after XCX, which I won't be playing until after Christmas when Santa brings it to me. Yoshi until then. And maybe I'll play Other M.
@IceClimbers
Wow! That's a pretty great list! I've been waiting for StarFox 64 on VC for ages!
Where did you get that information???
Is there a link or something?
Thanks!
I think this is just going to be the regular Wii version of TP on the eshop. If they were to make a HD remake I think they would be mad to not make a Wii U physical version like they did with WW. Also have the GC version (left handed Link, correct map) and it would sell very well until Zelda U.
That would make a decent Xmas update if they added all those around Xmas. Okay, they're not all NEW games but they can help bridge the gap towards titles like Starfox Zero and Zelda Wii U both that got delayed.
And of course, discounted launch offers can sweeten the deal some more huh Nintendo?
Twilight Princess is one of the games that really could do with an HD treatment, and I'm talking light and materials more so than texture sizes and screen resolution. Its reliance on more naturalistic light and shadow meant it did look quite behind the times compared to its contemporaries. And it looks particularly grey-ish when compared to both Wind Waker and Skyward Sword.
Awesome. I want to play SS, but have been hesitant to drop $50 for it. $20 would make it an instabuy for me.
@ChaosReddux You misunderstand, Twilight Princess is the only remaster here. All the other games are just the original version put on the eshop in digital form like Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Metroid Prime Trilogy back in January.
Well this certainly lends a lot of credibility to the twilight princess thing. Those 3 games are 3 of the obvious next choices for digital eshop release.
This'd be awesome. I really want a digital copy of Skyward Sword.
Twilight Princess HD has been spotted on the actual Japanese eShop now. That reveal, and possibly release, is imminent.
A change in title is in order I think.
@rjejr and rightfully so my friend the whole time i was playing Other M i couldnt help but feel that the nunchuk wouldve been perfect but still its a good game i just feel some people just got overly sensitive with the character interpretation kinda like Batman killing people with the bat-mobile...it just puts long-time fans in a bad spot...ya know.
also every Gamecube game still holds up pretty well but an HD remaster of Double Dash, Sunshine, Rogue Squadron, Pikmin 1 & 2, Air Ride, Luigi mansion, Starfox Assault or Animal Crossing would be pretty sweet but with added content to give people more of an incentive to buy especially if the already have the originals.
Until XCX is released im torn between Wooly World, Phantom Pain or Ni No Kuni...regardless im saving up my sick leave for when XCX releases!!! Since im refusing to wait for Santa i guess ill have a head start my friend but dont worry ill still team up with you after all there is much to be done in XCX
@liljmoore it could be your cable, I am also playing gc games on a 50“ 1080p TV using an RGB cable, and thou they still aren't the best, they aren't that bad looking. The other way round that issue is buy an original Wii (not the family or mini versions) and a Wii component cable (the 5 pin one) which plays cube and Wii games in 480p. Phantasy Star looks incredible
Other M sucked monkey ballz, and I'm a huge Metroid fan. But I would get that Twilight Princess HD remake real quick fast in a hurry.
@liljmoore I'd rather Galaxy 3 for NX preferably as a launch title, along with Spla"2"n. That'd probably sell quite well.
Twilight Princess HD makes ZERO sense from a business perspective. It has been available since the launch of the Wii and is STILL readily available. Why waste resources on an HD port of a game that has never left the marketplace, on a console that can still play the original version?
YES!!!!!!
@WanderingPB Hope you're not offended as I avoid all your Miiverse posts for 3 weeks until I catch up. Though I suppose I could just skip the ones in the XCX community. Or not. I haven't felt the need to filter friends post before. hmm
Nintneod shouldn't have mentioned Gamecube VC on Wii U if we were going to have to wait 3 years for it. Though I'm nto sure that was an official announcement or just on a webpage somewhere.
I wonder if this woman still has a job?
http://www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/wii-u-virtual-console-will-have-gamecube-games-says-nintendo/
@liljmoore People hated it because it was a classic case of character assassination. Watching Samus quake (literally like a little baby) by the sight of Ridley, a character, who by this point in the timeline, she's faced and killed 3 times, was painful to watch. Then, the most bad ass bounty hunter in the galaxy has to be authorized to turn on her life saving suit features like, not burning to death in a certain areas, by an unneeded male figure. A terrible hard mode, which rewards you with nothing for beating it. Shoehorned controls, which should've been an option for newbies and kept the stellar Prime controls for vets. Uninspired boss battles. Except for the Phantoom battle (which was cool) Seriously, the only thing they got right was the Ninja Gaiden-esque combat. Also, it had the unfortunate task of coming after the excellent Prime series. Honestly, it never stood a chance.
Side note: And let's not forget, "The baby..."
Edit: Oh yeah, and bad bad bad bad dialogue. Poorly written and even more poorly delivered.
I prefer 2nd hand original Wii retail games. They are mostly really easy to get and cheap.
A HD remaster on the other hand would be rad. Especially Twilight Princess could benefit so much from it. I hope these rumors are true. I hope for a retail release though.
I still haven't played TP, so a HD remake would be nice
Hopefully skyward sword come to Wii u. I traded it in and I would really like it back but the disc is so expensive!
A Skyward Sword HD re-release would be nice.. I wanted to love the game, but the controls were simply a big sticking point for me, what with having to recalibrate the damn motion controls every five minutes, and then I can't even play the game because the motion controller starts tweaking out! MXM
While I completed Twilight Princess it is still my least favourite Zelda game.
Nintendo proved their ineptitude with 'real' graphics showing off textures barely any better than OOT. It was especially disgraceful considering the extensive use of highly detailed, bump mapped textures on everything in Factor 5's Star Wars games. The Wolf sections were boring and repetitive, the over done bloom graphics in these sections were distasteful and painful on the eyes.
Should've been open world, not a series of empty rooms.
The worst 3D Zelda game certainly does not need a HD REMAKE. I've no doubt Nintendo wouldn't have the talent of matching the hd texture packs available through fan projects on dolphin.
I actually think Twilight Princess HD would be worthwhile. It was a game that had a really dark mood, and was actually really pretty in the early days of the Wii. Unlike Wind Waker and Skyward Sword, which used art style to work around the limitations of the hardware they originally released on, Twilight Princess was going for a much more realistic, detailed look. With a fresh coat of HD paint, fancier lighting effects, etc., Twilight Princess could be a real looker of a game. In fact, if you will recall, Nintendo did a mock up of an HD Zelda game when the Wii U was announced to showcase the graphics. That snippet, which involved Link in a temple with a giant spider creature, definitely used the Twilight Princess art style.
I'm still not convinced TPHD will make its way to the eShop (more likely just a Wii download release like the Mario Galaxy games and Punch Out!!). But it would represent the complete Gamecube-era Zelda series remastered for the Wii U, which would be consistent with the two 64-era Zelda games getting releases on the 3DS.
Still, not convinced it will happen.
@rjejr Lol. That pic is priceless! The real game master has entered the building.
I'll gladly get TP and SS.
Any data miners get a glimpse of anything related to zero mission?
@hcfwesker I wonder if that is some big joke over at NOA. They must be aware people want that game.
I already have all the mentioned games in their original Wii disc forms, so there is nothing exciting for me here personally.
@icedude545 That would be nice. I should point out that pretty much all of those games I listed only have a Japanese listing currently, with the exception of New Super Mario Bros Wii, which also has an EU listing. Might be a while before those come to Europe and especially NA.
@hcfwesker Metroid Zero Mission still doesn't have a US listing, so it's probably not coming anytime soon. That being said, they can add things to the Nintendo Update Servers at any time, so they could surprise us.
@liljmoore
"Speaking of remasters Nintendo has only done 1 HD remaster for the WiiU. How would you guys like seeing some GC, 64, and Wii titles remastered for the WiiU and NX."
I'd like to have seen loads. It's a prime example of how Nintendo dropped the ball with Wii U. They could have massively improved the Wii U's catalogue adding quantity and variety for low development cost. They have the perfect excuse in that it's their first HD console. They could have had the extra selling point that they were remastering Wii games for players put off by waggle controls (Mario Galaxy games, Skyward Sword). They have games that weren't released in certain territories (Excitebots, Disaster). They have games that would genuinely benefit from a reworking as well as a coat of HD Paint (Mario Sunshine, Starfox Assault, Kid Icarus Uprising). They have games that could have benefitted from Online Play as well as HD graphics (F-Zero GX, Excitebots, Wii Sports Resort, Mario Golf/Strikers/Baseball/Tennis, Pikmin 2, Four Swords). They have games that never had a chance of selling because they were released late in their host machines existence (Chibi Robo, Last Story, Pandora's Tower). They have games that are very expensive and hard to find on their host machines (Cube and Wii Fire Emblem games, Four Swords, Kirby Return to Dreamland). They have an audience that loves Nintendo nostalgia and has showed that it will rebuy old games. Instead they've sat on their fingers and watch Wii U creak its way through a low-selling, underappreciated existence.
Twilight Princess in Wind Waker Art Style...
Take my money and make it happen Nintendo!
Unlike Twilight Princess(which outright says Twilight Princess HD), the other 3 don't have any indication of being HD upgrades, which is a little disappointing. That said, I never got to play SS, so I'm excited to get it once it comes out.
Also, I can't wait for gamers to explode at the thought of a Other M rerelease(which as a game, I thought was fine, despite it's weak story)
Also, Radiant Dawn rerelease pl0x. Would like to get that one without having to sell an organ for
Planned on borrowing a friend's copy of Skyward Sword, but if I could pick it up for $10, I'd gladly do so.
insert unnecessary Other M hate here
@Grumblevolcano If you were correct which I highly doubt, I'd be done with Nintendo. A home console without a single exclusive Zelda game would be the last straw. :x
@maukenboost Classic Wii titles are $20 on the eShop, not $10.
@Grumblevolcano It's been confirmed twice it's going to be on Wii U. The only question is if it's going to be on the NX at all, which I still think it won't.
@IceClimbers I still think Xenoblade Chronicles (Wii) will launch on the North American Wii U eShop when Xenoblade Chronicles X is released in the region.
Uh...WTH?! I tried to edit my post and I was brought to the site's moderator's panel! I'm not a moderator here so that shouldn't have happened. You guys might want to look into this @Damo @Antdickens
Speaking of VC, ChuChu Rocket (GBA) is listed for Release in Japan next week on Wii U.
I so hope this makes it West
I will buy Skyward Sword and I will be tempted by an HD Twilight Princess, especially with gamepad controls. The rest of it doesn't really interest me.
If and when they get around to releasing Xenoblade Chronicles as an eShop game (which I doubt because NoA thinks everyone should buy a N3DS and play it there apparently), I will probably repurchase it. Since my 19 month son has learned to eject discs from the Wii U, I have become to appreciate digital downloads a lot more.
Interesting news, and the SMG one was almost expected. The only one of those that I don't own physically is Other M. Is there a reason why many aren't thrilled about it? I've only played the 2D Metroids.
@Trinexx
The story was pretty f***ed.
SPECIFICS:
Many disliked what it did to Samus's character, as it made her pretty pathetic
@Superryanworld Piper's "ah, come on"? I started using it when he passed away, he was always my favorite.
Well, I'm one of those that loved Other M as well XD, despite the story being a bit... stupid sometimes. The gameplay was awesome, I enjoyed a lot, but I prefer the Prime trilogy anyway (well, not the second one... I hated the second one)
If the Twilight Princess HD is real, I hope it comes out RIGHT NOW! On time to give some boost to the WiiU this christmas, and make the wait for the new Zelda easier. Don't announce it for the next year, as it could mean a new delay for the new one...
Don't think that Twilight Princess HD is real. If it is, then it had better be an HD remake with the level of quality like Wind Waker HD
Wait, hold on. The data's already on there but Nintendo's not releasing it?!
@Megas75: I see. I'm guessing it makes her less hardcore compared to previous installments.
@Trinexx
It's a problem when it affects gameplay though. Seriously, there are some moments in the game where you need ADAM's permission to use certain weapons and abilities, which is pretty dumb.
That aside, it's still fun from a gameplay perspective(despite the bs above)
@Trinexx As a diehard fan of the Metroid series, Other M is pretty much an insult to metroid players, in my opinion. And it's not even the story, or Samus monologues, that bothered me. As mentioned above, you don't find suit upgrades in this game, once you hit a certain sequence in the game's story, you're "allowed" to activate your grapplebeam, speedboost, etc. Not only that, there's absolutely no sense of achievement with exploration or discovery in the game. No memorable environments, "hidden" (lol) items (missiles, energy tanks) are childishly marked on your HUD map ... all you have to figure out is to use a bomb or missile in the exact spot.
Also, if TP HD is real; don't expect a complete remake of the game. It'll probably be the same game that's just been up-res'd to HD with audio retweaked .. along with wiimote/nunchuk or GC controller options.
@hcfwesker @Megas75 Thanks for enlightening me. The lack of meaningful exploration would really kill it for me as that's my favorite element in the Metroid games that I've played. I've been recently curious about Other M anyway as there are still retail copies available where I live; I see now not to waste my hard-earned rupees on it.
@dres You missed nothing, Excitebots was terrible. Excite Truck? Amazing. Bots? Awful. They completely ruined the pace of the game with all these stupid gymnastic bars you have to swing on. I want to race, not play timing mini-games on stupid red bars.
Sounds great if they're getting ported like Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Metroid Prime Trilogy.
Personally, I don't want Twilight Princess to get remade just yet. I think it'd be better to hold off on that until the NX launches. Whether it's a handheld or console, I'd be much happier for that.
Of course, GamePad features may make it worth getting.
I haven't played Twilight Princess or Skyward Sword, so I've been waiting for something like this to happen because it costs too much to get these games on disc.
Please let it be true, I would snap up both Zelda games in an instant. It would be even better if they WERE HD remastered in a way so I didn't have to fight with waggle, but I can dig it either way.
@TheAceofMystery Other M cost less that $8 now at GameStop. You're better off just buying the retail copy.
@Grumblevolcano Highly unlikely Zelda Wii U will become an NX exclusive. Wish people would stop saying that. No Nintendo console(excluding the virtual boy) has been without it's own Zelda. Despite the low sales of the Wii U, I see no reason for that tradition to not to continue. Furthermore, think of how many resources they've already put into developing the game for the Wii U at this point. That's YEARS of development... Many man hours, lots of money...
More likely is this Twilight Princess HD is being put out to try and tide us over after all the delays.
I hope Skyward Sword does come out because even though I beat it, I dont own it, and it is my first and favorite Zelda Game quite possibly my favorite game (tied with Mario Galaxy 1) of all time, as for Twilight Princess HD I would buy it
@mjc0961 Personally I didn't like either game because of the controls. I hated having to use the 'motion steering'. Really stupid of them to not include an option to use the classic controller. 2 great, high quality racing games ruined by controls... sigh
@iflywright Actually Twilight Princess is only 22 bucks on Amazon. But of course that's the old SD Wii version. Probably better to buy this HD version, assuming it is real, which it does at least appear to be.
@Neko_Rukiafan For the first week they are $10.
@maukenboost That was only for the first three Wii games that were released...
THE hype of the moment: Dataminers (also known as Hackers)!
@vio
Which would be another reason to remaster games like that for proper controls (as well as online play and a HD remaster)
I'll go against the grain along with the minority and admit that I actually REALLY enjoyed Other M. Terrible cutscenes and laughable dialogue aside, it actually was a solid game with traditional Metroid elements and some pretty amazing boss battles (particularly the hidden post-endgame easter egg boss). If this turns out to be true I'll happily download it for another playthrough.
@PeterAndCompany I have Other M for the Wii but haven't played it yet. Will look forward to it now.
@Trinexx Also to point out, if you enjoyed Metroid Prime Trilogy, Other M goes as far as to remove MPT from the timeline. Watch this video (with spoilers), as much as this guy sounds hateful, he hits every point https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pX4mhp-8sOc
@rjejr please feel free to ignore them all LOL! though im not really the type to post constantly but if the original Xenoblade Chronicles had miiverse i would've posted pics of Satori Marsh at night, Eryth sea, Valak Mountain at night, the tip of the finger on the Fallen Arm and....hmmmm i think im starting to see your reasoning....yes avoid all my posts i have a strong feeling im going to geek out during my exploration of XCX! Thankfully my son understands my Xenoblade obsession and he will be playing Pokemon Super mystery dungeon so that should by me some time before im only allowed to play when he's asleep...maybe i should invest in another TV?
@gaby_gabito I agree I love Skyward Sword with all of the advancements in the control department and the run button I find it hard to go back to the previous 3D Zelda games because I keep looking for the run button.
If Twilight Princess gets a HD remake one of the things I would like besides improved graphics would be a run button like Skyward Sword
@liljmoore "People hated cause because they gave Samus some emotion"
are you bolognese serious
@rjejr Um, just take into consideration that some people actually liked games like Sonic Boom.
@Trinexx The story is horrible (this includes plot and characters for the record, one of the plot threads isn't even completed...it's abandoned halfway through the game), the controls are really bad, it's ridiculously linear, there are sections of the game where you have to look for a very specific section (cough pixel cough) and you CANNOT move on until you find the little pixel, the art style looks cartoony as hell in comparison to Metroid Prime's...oh, and it retconned most of the things the Prime series established. There's also some minor details like Samus' armor being changed for no reason (her canon looking like a peashooter), how the gravity suit was replaced with a little glow because Sakamoto doesn't like the power suit in purple...and Samus was shrinked (being freaking amazonian before), also for no reason, and apparently she grows a few inches when she puts on her power suit and only when doing so.
And yes, it gave Samus some emotion. One, to be more specific: Whiny crybaby. I don't know why the woman that gave the Metroid hatchling away with a handshake and a "just doing my job, sir" like an hour after obtaining the damn thing would be like "AAAAH NOOO MY BABY I HAVE PTSD ;_;" in this game, let's not mention how she freaks out at the sight of the archnemesis she's killed about 4 times by then or how she follows Adam like a lap dog, being forced to run through a lava room WITHOUT her varia suit only for Adam to be like "oh by the way samus you can activate your varia suit now" right after finishing that section. Also how Adam just shoots her, leaving her exposed to a bunch of obviously dangerous metroid, just because he needed (not really) to sacrify himself to save the ship and...he didn't want Samus to interfere? I don't spaghetti know. How did that even affect her, with her chozo dna and training in zebes she doesn't even need her power suit to resist that. But oh well, Samus is a weak japanese blonde lady here so I guess it makes sense.
I have no idea why anyone would consider this a good game (inb4 opinions)
Let me also establish that you can't just ignore the story and characters because there's no skip button. Technically there is one...after you complete the game once. But why would you even want to play that game twice lol.
@Melkaticox: O_o Wow. I think I'll basically skip the game at this point and pretend it doesn't exist.
"inb4 opinions"
Hah
@WanderingPB XC was awesome to explore. I never really want to play a game that's so zen it's just all exploring and nothing else, like Myst, but XC had a great world, and they did a really good job of having a scenic view in every location. And winding twisting out of the way spots like th eentire back of Guar Plain and that giant spider locale. It' swhy, even though I know XCX wll never top ti story wise, as long as there's fighting and exploration it should be really enjoyable. And wheels. I spent the last 75 hours of that game yelling at the tv - somebody invent rollerblades already. Or get me a Chocobo.
@rjejr when the title screen came on with that piano melody i was hooked...i didnt even press the start button and i just listened then the time of day changed and i knew XC was going to be amazing! Im not usually into JRPGs but this games freedom won me over especially since you be rewarded for simply exploring! i would explore the whole map before even following the story...Eryth sea was a gold mine for me swimming everywhere but i guess i couldve just jumped down floating platforms but either way XC is my favorite Wii game and SMG held that title for many years LOL! XCX i already know will not be the same but im happy to continue the series where exploration is rewarded...plus now it'll be in a mech...im going to watch the XCX exploration trailer again
@Peach64 theres a tonne thats different already about the HD update and there is a bit of time for more improvement before release too. playing the wii title on the Wii U does nothing to alter the true resolution, its a pixelated mess because the game always had too heavy lighting effects in a world with a relatively dull palette on a system that couldn't handle anti aliasing.
the resolution is now 1080p up from ... 480p or so ? its big. the textures have been redone so clothing actually looks like its made of cloth, lighting engine tweaked so details are easier to discern. presumably the windwaker changes will come across too so full use of gyro controls of the gamepad with menu system taken off the TV and onto the gamepad along with the map - so much more pleasant to use. Amiibo support though we dont know what they do yet.
I hope they boost the colour saturation before release but its already a big change, you have to look at some comparison shots.
