Gamescom opens up next week, the biggest game-related expo and trade show in Europe. The doors open to trade visitors on 5th August but the public crowds arrive on 9th August, with hundreds of thousands of gamers arriving in Cologne for the event.
Nintendo of Europe is a strong supporter of Gamescom, and has a treat in store for Wii U gamers this year. It's been confirmed that Xenoblade Chronicles X will be playable in Europe for the first time, giving attendees an early look at the December release.
The localised version of Monolith Soft's RPG hasn't been playable for the Western public before now, only appearing on Treehouse broadcasts during E3 in June.
Are you going to Gamescom, and will you be queuing to give this a spin?

So, is it translated?
@ThomasBW84 Gamescom is next week so August, not September.
This must suggest at least a fair amount of translation is finished!
"Ich bin wirklich Gefühl es!"
as someone whos native language is german i have no idea what that is uppose to mean
@ThomasBW84 I don't know if you're aware of it, but the title you used doesn't have a meaning in German. ^^
I guess you wanted to translate "I'm really feeling it"? Then it should say "Ich fühle es wirklich".
That's because "feeling" as a verb is "fühlen", or in that case if first person singular, "fühle". But the noun "feeling" is "Gefühl" in German. So "Gefühle" would be plural.
And now back to topic: I was thinking about going to Gamescom (if I can get a day pass), trying Xenoblade would be an additional reason to do so. Thanks for the info!
@Grumblevolcano D'oh, not sure why I keep getting months wrong.
@Shani Thanks!
@6ch6ris6 That's probably the google translation of "I'm really feeling it".
Can't wait to play this....which will probably be 5 years after release when I finally have time
@ThomasBW84 Np.
Although to be fair, "I'm really feeling it" is kinda hard to translate in a way that translates the exitement, too. The sentence I provided could be a bit too literal.
But since it's coming from Shulk in Smash (thanks, Google ), I would have to run Smash in German (I set my Wii U to English because most of the time something gets lost in translation, the same goes for Steam) first to see how NoE translated it. ^^
One could also translate it to "Ich kann es wirklich fühlen", which would be a bit more common and means "I can really feel it", but I doesn't really improve upon my first translation, I still feel like there's something lost in translation...
Oh and btw: This site is really good for translating (not only EN-DE), altthough it usually doesn't translate whole sentences: http://www.leo.org/ende/index_en.html
@ThomasBW84 Sorry for double posting, but are you guys from NintendoLife attending Gamescom?
Abgefahren xD
@DEAD That's Dutch, not German...
(and incorrectly translated as well: "Now it's Shulk time" translates to "nu is het Shulk tijd" in Dutch, so more or less literal)
@DEAD And why on Earth would that get you banned?
I can't say I'm overly excited for a game being at a conference that released 2 months ago and we already have a western release date for, so I'll just be thankful Nintendo will be there showing something playable. Are they not promoting Super Mario Maker or is this in addition to that?
I promise to be excited when Zelda U is playable, even if it's Zelda NX by then.
Really looking forward to the game though, probably under the tree. 150 hours into XC and I'm taking a break at level 96 before going back to grind for the higher level beasts.
This game is taking forever to release in the U.S.
I can't get enuffa this song.

@97alexk Alter Schwede!
Eh. I'd be somewhat excited if germany wasn't so terrible at acknowledging games. It's either TV news sneakily making fun of the "ugly virgin losers" who attend GamesCom, or it's one of the countless german LP'ers whose annoyance levels often put PewDiePie to shame.
@Kaze_Memaryu: Domtendo has to be the worst of them all. I absolutely cannot understand how he can have any fans. He doesn't have skill and is always blaming the game when it's really his fault. German youtube is pretty terrible in general, though.
@rjejr This is in addition to the games that were playable on E3 and some new Nindie games.
It'd be fun to go to gamescom, but I'm entirely too broke.
Es ist Reyn zeit!
Einhander!! Wait... that's PlayStation...
@scamander As well as Smash, Splatoon and Mario Kart 8.
@scamander Actually, he's not quite there yet in my opinion. He's absolutely embarrassing and incompetent, yes, but he's at least somewhat ignorable (unless you're on the Splatoon Miiverse page). No, I'm talking about stuff like the self-proclaimed official "GermanLetsPlay" channel. Fifteen seconds were all I needed to gain a completely new understanding of the word shame...
I bothered translating.
"I'm really feeling it!""
@scamander @Grumblevolcano - Thanks guys, sounds like a big deal then, very good Nintendo, well done.
@rishisquid Translated and dubbed in English.
@ThomasBW84 I do hope that they didn't cancel August 7 and 8... my friend and I have day passes for August 7,8 and 9. You stated that the public will start pouring in on the 9th.
@Kaze_Memaryu Wow... "ugly virgin loosers"... Really? Hahaha... before making those kinds of comments they should check out the cosplay area at Gamescom.
Been waiting way too long long long ~
I'd go to gamescom if it didn't cost me thousands of dollars for the plane tickets, food, housing, and passes to get to Germany. Not to mention the passport wait times. In other words, I'd go to gamescom, if I lived in Europe.
@JacketsNest101 I feel you man, I'd sooo love to attend E3 and San Diego Comic-Con one day... but hey, at least there will be a Comic Con at Germany next year (I'll probably go there but I guess it won't be the same). ^^
That reminds me I already missed two qualification days for the big MK8 tournament. Have to at least try on August 2nd - but I also would have to get a day pass for Saturday (8th), first...
@Kaze_Memaryu I haven't watched German television television (in comparison to internet television) for a long time now (mainly because it sucks), do they really talk about gamers like that? What about GIGA TV?
I also don't like Domtendo, but then again I dislike LetsPlays and LetsPlayers in general (mainly because they can't shut their mouth and sometimes because they are just incompetent). Luckily I rarely have the need to watch a LetsPlay - I prefer "gameplay videos", although nowadays it's nearly the same (guy plays a game and comments it instead of just being silent and letting the game speak for itself).
And @scamander: Yeah I totally agree, German youtube in general - with some exceptions, of course - is really terrible. So are many German gaming websites. Good thing the internet is international.
I'm thinking maybe some of these German's here could make their own German gaming site. With blackjack...
@shani GIGA TV doesn't really exist in germany anymore. They went to pay-TV, and nobody followed them. But there's a strong theme of sensationalism going through german news stations. Two years ago, they actually sent a model to GamesCom who was supposed to get the guys' attention, and the entire report relentlessly poked fun at how absorbed the attendants were, plus constantly focusing on sweaty t-shirts - of course, the reactions from gamers were harsh. Last year was a bit more favorable, but still not really flattering.
@Kaze_Memaryu Wow, that sounds really awful and disrespectful! Not to mention, heavily stereotyped. Then again, I shouldn't be surprised. Unfortunately, in contrast to other countries, we only have terrible Free-TV and one more or less decent (only because they run US-TV-shows without delay and in English) Pay-TV provider (Sky), which I only use for watching football. Good thing we have Netflix since last fall.
But @MadAdam81 is right, we should get back to topic... gotta get in touch with my friends in Cologne so that we can organize going to Gamescom. I'd love to test XCX, because the first game on Wii wasn't for me (I don't like turn-based fights), but this one looks really nice in the videos. Does anyone know why Japan got it several months earlier than the rest of the world? Like, if the game's finished, why is it taking Monolith half a year to release it in EU and NA?
BTW is anyone participating in the MK8 tournament?
@shani If you asked me 2 months ago, I'd say the 8 month wait is due to translating text from Japanese to English and English voice acting. Now I'm leaning towards it being to soften the blow of Zelda Wii U being an NX game.
@Grumblevolcano I still don't believe that Zelda will skip the Wii U as long as there is no proof, although there also isn't any prove that it won't... but I think Nintendo would piss many people off and they rarely brake such promises. And even if you were right, it wouldn't explain why Japan got the game already instead of having to wait until December (meaning there won't be a softing the blow in Nintendo's main market, which wouldn't make any sense).
Anyway, translating and voice acting can't take that long either, I don't even think it would take more than a month. That's so strange, it puzzles me.
But yeah, XCX will probably be my fill-in for The Legend of Zelda (I'm still hoping they're going with the title of the very first installment, since they wanted to recreate the feeling of an open world). And maybe it's for the best anyway, having Zelda and XCX released at the same time would'nt be a smart business move.
@shani Japan is getting SMTxFE around the same time the rest of the world is getting XCX.
@Grumblevolcano I just had to google that abbreviation.
Not to be rude, but I still haven't got what that game is about. Every trailer I find looks like a girly anime. Is it even comparable to XCX?
But if both games should happen to have the same target audience in Japan, it would make sense not to have them released simultaneously.
@shani From what we've seen so far it looks kind of like the Persona series which is massively popular in Japan, that franchise is definitely more popular than Xenoblade.
"Ich fühle es wirklich"
Nice pun.
@Kaze_Memaryu Do you know Rocket Beans TV. A lot of former Giga People are streamung 24/7 on Twitch.
The wait for this is unbearable. And then it has to be released in December when everyone is busy doing other stuff. It shoulda been released in a boring month- like July 15
@shani Sadly, E3 is a trade only show, no general public allowed.
@JacketsNest101 Oh okay, that's news to me. From the videos and pictures you find online, I always assumed those tons of people were gamers. Heck, if E3 has ~ 50k visitors, it can't be that hard to get a press pass, right?
@ghostjoshu Busy doing other stuff in December? What other stuff? I think winter is the perfect time to delve into a game like this, while during summer, one actually is other stuff to do (like go out and enjoy the sun, while it lasts ^^).
@OddworldCrash Yeah, I know them. I used to be a huge fan of the crew back when they made GameONE, but at some point, that show was more about bad gags than proper game reviews and reports. I occasionally tune in to RBTV, but I tend to miss their active timeframes, since they don't have a real schedule.
@shani I think it used to be open to the public, but there's no need now with online streaming.
@Kaze_Memaryu Schedule haben die doch jetzt: http://rocketbeans.tv/wochenplan.jpg
@OddworldCrash I think it's preferred to speak english on thissite but:
Holla, wie hab' ich das denn übersehen? Danke für die Info!
@Kaze_Memaryu Also this is kind of off-topic, but I hope the admins will understand
@shani Sorry for the really late reply, but i'm an aussie and december is the height of summer here and social stuff. Still, its miles away and i can't wait! Happy gaming!
