We've seen some cool cosplay ourselves recently, but nothing prepared us for the awesomeness of seeing the Star Fox team reimagined in human form.
The cosplayers known as York In A Box have been busy barrel rolling ahead of the release of Star Fox Zero on Wii U. In the photos below you can see Chris Villain as Fox McCloud, Leo Camacho as Falco Lombari, Sarah Sterling as Slippy Toad and Elizabeth Ragea as Peppy Hare.
Let us know what you think about these human interpretations of Star Fox's team with a comment below.

Why is peppy hare a woman? peppy has a very deep voice in starfox .__., i think slippy as a woman could work
that is 400% better than the original animal charakters. those stupid animal charakters are maybe the biggest reason why i will never want to try a star fox game. it really annoys me. stupid talking animals in space. i don't get it. why?
@derek_combatir Most cosplayers aren't dedicated enough to undergo gender reassignment surgery, so they usually wing it.
Looks more like Quark than Starfox.
@derek_combatir 'ccept even Slippy is clearly stated as a male, with a girlfriend called Amanda in Starfox Command. Peppy on the other hand is even a father if memory serves right, and his wife died or something. But as stated above to cosplayers gender assignments matter very little, and to be honest that's fine by me too, all the more when the cosplay itself is made so great .
They just look like stupid hipsters to me.
@6ch6ris6 oMg, how can u sa that, those aminals appeered to Shingeru Meyamoto in his dreams, when he went under a arch. Plese don't use such blaspemy on this web site. Anyway, all animals talk in space. Haven't you seen any space movies?
...Why are Peppy and Slippy women?
Cool cosplay. I can dig it!
All I know is Peppy is looking good.
I honestly don't understand why this is a news article. The Fire Emblem concert, and Smash 3DS' Taiwan and Hong Kong release all happen today. Did you guys cover any of that?
@NintendoFan64 You must be new to cosplay. Gender swaps happen all the time. Femlinks and dudes in Peach dresses... nothing unusual here.
My favourite example was a very convincing Leon Belmont female cosplay. Embrace unity and equality, my friend.
@Tsuchinoko Ooh, I forgot about the Fire Emblem concert. I wanna listen to that; sure hope they release an album of it, though it probably wouldn't see a Western release, sadly.
I agree that this isn't really news, but at least it beats everything on their cosplay highlights article.
Mmm... it makes sense, and it's ok, it was just weird that's all
They're cosplayers. Dressing up as characters. This is "representative" of one thing. Cosplayers dressing up as characters.
You are profoundly overthinking it.
They look terrible. I feel slightly bad saying that, but... you asked for our opinions.
I have mixed feelings, but more on the good side. The more I look, the better it gets.
Those broads ain't bad.
@Genesaur Oh, I know. I have no problems with it, since you're allowed to cosplay as whatever character you like. I was just weird-ed out for a second when I first looked at the picture and went "Wait, are Peppy and Slippy female in that picture?".
@Tsuchinoko It clearly says "Weirdness" at the top of the page. Translation: It's a bit of fun.
We've never, ever claimed to just be a news farm. There are countless other Nintendo sites out there that fill that role.
As someone who dabbles in cosplay, I can imagine the work that went into these. The details are great.
@RupeeClock What? Why not? It just a costume that you may only wear a handful of times at most! Show some dedication people!
@Tsuchinoko lighten up brother its news based on video games... And as the leader states "Weirdness".
Sorry, they all still had flesh and blood legs. A truly dedicated person would have sacrificed that in order to have robotic feet installed or at least made it look like robotic feet.
@6ch6ris6 I don't know how to respond to that. Do you watch Disney or Pixar movies and complain about how all the fish from Nemo or all the lions in The Lion King aren't humanoid characters?
What's the big deal? it's just cosplay! You can see tons of people dressed like this at any comic/game convention
@Damo
In order for that weirdness article bit to work you have to depend on people browsing the internet to read eveything not just the bits they want. Plus they need the uncommon common sense. I see at least one complaint like that in about every weirdness article.
It's a text article THERE IS NO WAY YOU SHOULD NOT NOTICE IT IS A WEIRDNESS ARTICE!
Also LOL at the people complaining about the 2 female cosplayers. Why not complain about Peppy not looking old?
@larry_koopa Huh, your right... CONSPIRACY?
@6ch6ris6 Boy, i'd hate to see what you think of Bugs Bunny, Disney, or TMNT. Frankly, I think if they were just humans or alien-humans, I think it would just look like practically every other space shooter out there. I think the "space animal people" make it more unique.
Still, these cosplays are good. Slippy is oddly pretty. lol
As long as they aren't a bunch of creepy furries I'm ok
@NintendoFan64 Because those woman wanted to do a group cosplay and decided they would be Peppy and Slippy and because undergoing a gender change would be a little much just for cosplay. Seriously, it doesn't matter what gender they are, they did a good job! I mean, do you know how many Link cosplayers are females?
Took me a bit to realize just why Peppy ("Pepper"?) here was holding her gun like that: Weaponized bunny ears.
Really cool! Awesome details. I especially like how Fox and Falco resemble their animal counterparts.
That Slippy Frog has a lot of nerve showing his face around these parts. He nearly single-handedly ruined the whole Star Fox franchise.
This looks like something out of Zoolander.
@rjejr is that show as awful as it looks?
@Shigmin Now I want a Guardians of the Galaxy game so I can play as Rocket.
I couldn't even recognize some of the cosplays.... but that Slippy woman(I PRESUME!) looks like nightmare fuel....
Wow the woman cosplaying as Peppy has amazing looking eyes!
@Mr_Zurkon - All 8 episodes of Quark before it got canceled were awesome.
AlI I remember was how funny it was there was a garbage truck flying around outer space picking up garbage. Then the following year we had Jason of Star Command, which was worse but w/o the garbage truck.
@6ch6ris6 Yeah, that's so stupid. How dare they use their imaginations! >_<
@rjejr That sounds hilarious plus Buck Henry was involved so I'll have to see if I can find the episodes.
why is their gender the thing most of you question here? They are cosplayers, I don't see what's wrong with cosplaying a member of the opposite gender. it's not like they can magically turn into males. this is an amazing cosplay. grow up.
I'll do a barrel roll for you any day, Peppy! (♥︎_♥︎)
@Mr_Zurkon He's a playable character in umvc3.
Ooh! Those are pretty rad costumes. Especially for Peppy.
I'm pretty sure slippy never got his t**s out like that.
That's me as Peppy! ❤️ (@elizabethrage on Instagram)
@6ch6ris6 Guess you missed out on a couple of truly great games then. Perhaps you should try to keep an open mind instead of being prejudiced and give one or two games in the series a try. Who knows, it might even grow on you. And you hardly get to see the animals since you'll be flying all the time, so you'll be looking at fighter planes for 95 percent of the time. You'll mainly see the animals in the intro and in a small communication window in the bottom of your TV screen, other than that, it plays just like a "normal" third person space fighter/on-rails shooter game.
@6ch6ris6 Says the guy with a talking mushroom in his pic, yeah totally weird xD jk though, i mean come on, so many weird nintendo things and this is the weird thing? They are awsome games
@ElizabethRage also sexy peppy hahha
@RupeeClock LOL
@derek_combatir Because its cosplay? If you had to be same gender or nationality as the character half of the western cosplayers would be out by default.
No Krystal cosplay?
The girl with the green hair looks beautifull. Also the orange haired girl.
What character does the green haired girl play?
Well peppy's nicer to look at
This is pure proof that sometimes humans can be creepier than animal mascots.
@6ch6ris6 Why not? Why have Ninja Turtles or Biker Mice or Street Sharks? From a western perspective its just imagination and creativity at work. From a Japanese perspective even though the Nation is no longer Shinto many myths and legends are full of animals that are magical or divine. Which makes great sources of inspiration from either perspective.
Hello Ladies Haha, Slippy is the female in the original cast. This is still epic though ~
