Following the 3DS eShop title’s Japanese release in September last year, comes news from developer Ancient, that work on the English version of Mamotte Knight 2: Hime no Tokemeki is well underway for a local release.
Ancient revealed the news via their official Twitter account, whilst also revealing the English logo and final name, Protect Me Knight 2: The Princess’s TOKIMEKI Rhapsody. According to the update, development of the English version is progressing at a steady rate.
For anyone not familiar with this upcoming 3DS eShop release, Protect Me Knight 2 is a sequel to the 2010 cult-hit Xbox Live Indie title, Protect Me Knight. The 8-bit retro-styled top down action game focused on fighting off hordes of monsters whilst protecting a princess and levelling a character and their moveset.
The multiplayer was well received as was the game’s soundtrack – with the co-founder of Ancient being Yuzo Koshiro, the composer of the 8-bit version of Sonic the Hedgehog and the Etrian Odyssey series. Despite initial concerns that the sequel would not be released here in the west, it’s now well and truly on its way – so get excited!
Let us know in the comments if you would be interested in Protect Me Knight 2 when local release information for the game is announced in the near future, and also take a look at a Japanese preview trailer of the game from last year below.

Is this confirmed for a release in Europe and the US or only in one of those markets for now?
Ooooh. I like it.
Protect Me, Knight! was such a fun little gem! Great to see they're still at it! Who knows, maybe they'll port the first game over as well?
Looks fun.
Amazing!
I had the first one on Xbox Live! It was very fun! I hope this comes to the UK, rather than just the U.S. or something like that. I'd buy it as soon as it pops up. Also, I'll hijack friends' 3DSs to make them download it too.
I'm so excited for this, I loved the first one. I was afraid this wasn't going to make it over to the west.
Looks cool, I'll grab it once it comes over.
Also, is there download play? Or does each player need their own copy for multiplayer?
I love Yuzo Koshiro! Might buy this just because he's involved and (hopefully) end up loving the gameplay.
The original was excellent, you 3DS owners are in for a treat.
This game looks (and sounds) awesome. I'll keep an eye on this one
This looks v-cool.
It always throws me off when the first game is released on not only another competitors system, but the sequel is on a handheld. Regardless, this looks really cool, though even if it has multiplayer I doubt any of my friends will know anything about it, and thus wont have a copy to play with me.
Kind of reminds me of Nestalgia which is an online 8bit MMORPG which plays just like Dragon Quest. I wish Nestalgia would come to 3DS! Take a look you guys may likely. Its world of Warcraft in an 8-bit world. http://silkgames.com/nestalgia/
I just emailed silkgames and asked if they would consider bringing Nestalgia to the 3DS.
I love the first one so much !
This is great news!
