Update:
Nintendo UK has also uploaded a longer video that shows off the title in more details, you can see this below:
Original Article:
The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D, rather like its predecessor Ocarina of Time 3D, has an opportunity to reach an entirely new audience on 3DS. That's particularly important for the upcoming release, as it arrived relatively late in the Nintendo 64 cycle and required an Expansion Pak; though it sold well and would also see release on the Wii Virtual Console, its impact wasn't as significant as OoT.

Majora's Mask is also quite a departure from its famous predecessor, with a darker and more surreal tone. That's part of its enduring legacy and appeal, but also gives Nintendo an interesting challenge in promoting this most creative of Zelda titles to a new audience.
A few trailers have popped up in the past 48 hours; the following two are the most recent from Nintendo's Japanese YouTube account, and adopt a fairly conventional approach.
Next up we have a Western TV commercial, which is a little more melodramatic and retro in its approach; it adopts some CG and real-world footage to play up a 'Friday the 13th' angle for the release date.
Let us know what you think of these, and whether you prefer the Japanese or Western approach.

I both... kind of.
It,s BEN!?!
To become the hero Termina deserves, but not the one it needs...
The darker tone of this game is what makes it my favorite story of any Zelda game. We really need more storylines that are as dark as the one in Majoras Mask, though Twilight Princess was a pretty solid one too.
''Tsuki no kyofu ha owaranai'' [The terror of the Moon has no end]
I love how they went with a similar line as the one from the original Japanese ad back in the day.

''You'll be pursued... you'll be cornered... you'll be cursed. This Zelda... will send a shiver down your spine''
They really are going for the right tone with these ads, which I'm thankful for. I also really like the western cinematographic one, even though as others said it does a poor job in showing off the actual game.
The Japanese commercials are always better. Western commercials always seem to want to add real world crap and show maybe 5 seconds of games footage. You're selling a game people so show it.
I really like the Western commercial better. It reminds me of the old 80's-90's Nintendo commercials. You rarely see game commercials that are shot that way. The Japanese commercial is cool, but the Western is better imo.
It's always the unique setting and atmosphere of this game which is usually emphasised. While this is certainly one of the reasons why I consider this game the best in the series, I'd like to add that in my opinion it's the pinnacle of the series in terms of gameplay, with regard to both its puzzles and the action.
While I don't think the ads being shown in the UK are amazing, I was pleasantly surprised to see the ad pop up on YouTube videos. I just hope they do the same with actual new games like Splatoon and Codename STEAM that need the exposure.

Only on Nintendo 3DS? I thought Nintendo had to explain that they could play the game on the 3DS, 3DSXL, 2DS, New 3DS, and New 3DSXL these days?
only one thing SPOILERS... a lot in the japanese ones
With this and Monster Hunter 4, Nintendo 3DS is getting one of its best months ever.
@MrGawain you're right.
If only we could get those Japanese ones in North America...
Oh look, it's Cremia's hug in all it's remade glory! That and Ben (even making the thumbnail) edges out the western ad.
@KDChronos not sure how much you can really spoil a 15 year old game. Its like someone quoting the "I'm your father" line from Star Wars V. Anyone who actually cares probably already knows what this game is about and how it ends up.
sigh Ben Drowned is an even deader, more boring meme than the CD-i games. You're better than this, Nintendo...
@VanillaLake
Yep, you nailed it.
You guys all saying the statue is from Ben drowned, do realize it's an actual part of the game, right? And it was creepy long before that story made the internet rounds because it finalizes the idea that the hero of time is dead. And even those who don't subscribe to that theory for whatever reason think that it's creepy because just look at it.
It's one of the best things they could highlight in a commercial designed to evoke the eeriness of the game. It's not a meme reference.
@bro2dragons: I know, I played it myself. It's just been wrung out and scraped so many times that it's nowhere near creepy anymore, just annoying.
Looking forward to revisit all those creepy, funny, sad, heartwarming moments from my favourite Zelda.
Isn't it Friday the 13th the moon falls?
(though I preordered, I'm still not sure. This isn't one of those New 3DS-only games?)
Xenoblade 3D is the only New 3DS exclusive so far. @KingMike
@bro2dragons I like the theory that link is dead as much as the next person, but nothing about it is final. There are a lot of holes in the theory, and nothing implies that if you have an elegy statue, you must be dead.
Majora's Mask is my favorite, but tell me I'm not the only one who doesn't find its "creepines factor" a favorite quality. There are a whole lot of other reasons I love the game, but everyone seems to bring up how creepy it is, and its darker themes.
@bro2dragons There's a massive hole in that "theory" (It's really just a hypothesis, as it CAN be disproved with facts). In Twilight Princess the Hero's Shade is the Hero of Time after he died. We can clearly see that he's an adult and that he had possibly joined the Hylian army at some point when you look at his armor. The Link in Twilight Princess is also a descendant from the bloodline of the Hero of Time. What this means is Link survived the events that took place in Majora's Mask, found his way back, married and had offspring (most likely Malon), and then died in a battle before his son/daughter were old enough to be taught sword combat, meaning he was never able to pass on his skills, thus his regret in Twilight Princess.
Also, even though this has no proof in itself, Zelda might have sent Link back to his original time as a child in OoT BECAUSE of the events that MM caused, as she seems to have a very deep link to the Sacred Realm and the other worlds existing besides Hyrule. This has no evidence what-so-ever though.
There is something important however, the Happy Mask Salesman can't be found in Kakriko(where everyone in Hyrule relocated after Ganondorf took over). This means that some point in the child timeline, something had to have happened to him. In the adult timeline, Link was never there to stop Termina from being destroyed, and thus the Happy Mask Salesman would have died in those three days. It also seems that Majora's Mask takes place when Link is at least a few years older than he originally was, meaning that the Termina crisis might have happened only a few years after Link had disappeared in the adult timeline, which ties up the question "If the events of Termina killed the Happy Mask Salesman in the adult timeline, why was he in Hyrule Market during the time that Link was a child and still after Ganondorf had briefly taken over Hyrule and went searching for Zelda?"
I bet if Robin Williams was still alive these commercials (well probably in the USA) would have him in it.
I remember the ads for the original, they were kinda creepy and I loved them.
I like the idea that Nintendo purposefully waited to launch MM on Friday 13th
The Dark side of Zelda, I love it, this fit pretty well with the spirit of the game
@Nicolai Except that the song only makes statues of dead people. Which is a pretty big implication.
@bro2dragons That could easily be a coincidence, because Link can only take the form of dead people.
If I decide to eat only vegetables, but with the exception of water (need it to survive), does that mean that because almost everything I eat is a vegetable, water must be a vegetable too?
At no point did Igos du Ikana say that every statue represents a dead person.
I'm not saying it's false, I'm saying that it is by no means is absolute proof.
The last one could have been fun...if it showed more gameplay!
