During today's Nintendo Direct it was confirmed that the 3DS family of systems is getting a new entry in the beloved Fire Emblem series, created by the same core team at Intelligent Systems which brought us the sublime Fire Emblem: Awakening.
An entirely new story is on offer, but this time around the player will be expected to make "bigger choices" that will impact the flow of the story -- hinting at plenty of replayability.
No release window was mentioned, and the game doesn't have a final title as yet -- but you can feast your eyes on the trailer below.

Awesome!!!
Where's Marth
I was exited for this, until I see it was for the 3DS and not for the Wii U... Oh come on Nintendo, the 3DS has Awekining, let us Wii U owners enjoy a good Fire Emblemin HD!
2015 release confirmed for Japan, so probably 2016 for NA/EU.
The only good thing to come out of the direct that we didn't already know about, sadly it's probably still going to be quite a while since we can even start thinking about the release date. I'm still annoyed we didn't get a Mario Maker date ir anything else related to that.
I need a wallpaper of that scene in the article.
I thought it was for the Wii U on the start of the trailer!
So excited! But would love to see advance wars return as well.
Definitely getting this!
Hoping to see more of this but really I expect a new Fire Emblem coming for Wii U as well, why 3DS always get the greats?
@Joruus_Cbaoth Is Marth even in this game? What about Roy, too?
Outdated jokes aside, I'm hyped. Would've loved to see it on Wii U but I'm not complaining. 3DS is just as good.
Yes, baby. Oh yes.
When the trailer started, I was thinking it was SMT x FE for Wii U, but hey, Awakening is likely my favorite 3DS title, so I'll more than gladly take this as well.
Would have preferred it on the Wii U too but still immensely excited for this. Instantly became my most wanted 3DS title.
What a lovely surprise. FE: Awakening was awesome and my first FE game.
Would love a Wii U version but still excited for this.
i screamed yes i love the fire emblem series and can't wait
well and truly stoked for this! Awakening is one of my fave 3DS games! Probably my favourite series of games ever - period! I agree, a Wii U FE would be unbelievable and another insta-buy!
Fire Emblem, Project Steam, MH4, Majora's Mask, Puzzles & Dragons...2015 is shaping up nicely indeed.
That intro was such a tease. I really thought it was the Fire Emblem x Shin Megami game for Wii U. I think I am coming to the point of losing all hope.
@Spakiness
I though that for a bit too, It's most likely time to admit that that game is a lost cause.
What happened to Fire Emblem x Shin Megami Tensui? That was the only FE game I was remotely interested in.
This is the best news it looks so amazing <3
Fire Emblem: Awakening surprised me in how much I loved it. One of my top 5 games of all time. This announcement was the best part of the direct for me, and is already my most anticipated game of 2015.
The first cutscene really confused me - at first I thought this was going to be an announcement for BLADESTORM, and when I realized that it was Fire Emblem, I just thought "and what was the point of that, then?".
I don't think that intro CGI part was a good thing, considering how much it didn't look like Fire Emblem at all.
I LOVED this announcement... but before you announce a new Fire Emblem game, at least update us on the one you've already announced (SMTxFE).
holiday 2015 release HOPEFULLY
Was expecting SMTxFE but this is good too. As long as it have that non-Permadeath option like in Awakening, I'm hyped up.
Personally I wanted an advance wars game but this is still good. Curious to see what new mechanics they add and if all the mechanics from awakening will return.
Us in 2013: "Hey Nintendo! We want Metroid!"
NINTENDO: "Okay, here's a new game from Retro Studios, the makers of Metroid Prime..."
Us: "Yes yes yes..."
NINTENDO: "DONKEY KONG COUNTRY: TROPICAL FREEZE!"
Us in 2014: "Hey Nintendo! We want Metroid!!"
NINTENDO: "We hear you! Now for an exciting, major announcement at E3, with a special post-event news conference to announce..."
Us: "Yes! Can it be..."
NINTENDO: "CODE NAME S.T.E.A.M.!"
Us: "Okay..."
Us in 2015: "Come ON Nintendo, how about announcing a new Metroid game for once"
NINTENDO: "We have an exciting announcement to start our first Nintendo Direct of 2015! A brand-new, unnanounced game for 3DS..."
Us: (holding breath)
NINTENDO: "ANOTHER FIRE EMBLEM GAME!!! JUST LIKE YOU ALWAYS WANTED!!! LOL"
Us: Sigh
@JJtheTexan
Actually I want another Fire Emblem a LOT more than a Metroid game, especially on 3DS. Metroid should be to Wii U in my opinion.
And Hell yeah! I love fire emblem so YEAHHHH!
@Geonjaha
Can not agree more! Fire Emblem for life!
Not something I expected to be announced, but I'm definitely interested.
And I had doubts about the future of the 3DS.
Seriously, I absolutely love the 3DS and with the New 3DS and another FE game coming , it might very well be my favourite system ever.
@JJtheTexan While I want a new Metroid game, the reality of it is that Other M was a massive bomb compared to the recent Donkey Kong and Fire Emblem games which were massive successes.
When a Nintendo franchise bombs that way Other M did, Nintendo rarerly gives it another chance. Look at F-Zero, a popular series on the SNES and N64 that had a few entries on the Gamecube and GBA that bombed.
If we really want to show Nintendo that we care about Metroid, then we need to show them by buying Metroid Prime Trilogy when it arrives on the eshop. Maybe if we show them that Metroid still sells and Other M was a fluke, maybe they will give the series another chance.
Until then, Metroid is in the same category as F-Zero. A once-popular series that has a massive bomb with its previous entry. Like it or not, Fire Emblem is a much more important series to Nintendo nowadays.
Awakening is the best selling game in the series. It created tons of new Fire Emblem fans who were likely looking forward to a new game in the series. As for Donkey Kong, that series has always been more popular and successful then Metroid ever was.
@JJtheTexan
I'd prefer them not make another Metroid until Sakamoto is put on a boat adrift in the ocean so that he can't screw up another one.
@Caryslan
Nintendo could easily fix the Other M problem--by making the next game completely wipe it (and Fusion for good measure as they share sexist plot elements) from the continuity of the franchise.
Until Samus is an inspiring woman again, and not the wet dream of a woman-hating sociopath, I don't want to see another game in the series. But you're right, DKCR sold way better.
YAY!
Okay, you're forgiven Nintendo for not giving me the new 3DS (not XL). This is waaay more than I expected or hoped for.
Oh, and please keep the marriage system.
@InVerted I am not sure a new Advance Wars will be coming. The last one was never released in Japan save for a platinum reward 5 years after release. I think it is only popular in the west. This is the same problem with metroid. Although I do remember a statement saying advance wars was in the works, but it seems unlikely anytime soon with intelligence systems making two 3DS games and SMT X. FE (if that is still in production).
Hopefully it won't be identical to Awakening in terms of mechanics and systems. I loved that game, but I want these titles to be unique.
Still excited, though.
What an amazing Direct, so much awesomeness!
@Quorthon Fusion I can live with since Samus was still pretty much herself in that game, and the ending did set up an interesting premise, namely the fact that Samus openly defied the orders of the Galactic Federation.
Which means a sequel to Fusion could have gone in a unique direction. Namely Samus is now being hunted by the Federation forces who have throwing everything in an attempt to capture or kill her. On top of which, you now have a resurgent Space Pirate group that is taking advantage of the fact that Samus and the Federation are now enemies.
Add on a third outside factor like a dangerous energy source(like Phazon), an ancient weapon, or the old standby of Metroids to make things worse for Samus since the Pirates are trying to harness this factor for their own benefit without understanding the dangers(like with Phazon and the Metroids).
So, you have Samus being hunted by two factions, while trying to stop a dangerous item, energy, or creature from being unleashed on the Galaxy that could destroy it.
So many directions they could have gone following the end of Fusion, and we got crap like Other M's plot where the galaxy's most badass Bounty Hunter did not even have enough backbone to openly question or defy Adam and activate her Varia suit when she standing in the middle of a volcano and being boiled to death!
Fusion and the Prime games were fine. Other M is the game that messed with Samus' personality and basically killed the series with a horrible story and even worse gameplay.;
This was hands down the best part of the ND. At first I thought it was for the Wii U, and that would have only made me happier.
I've been enjoying FE:A lately, so this news excites me!
here's a title
Fire Emblem: Now with Feet
Wiiu but hey I'm echoed been playing scared stones, does this mean fexsmt is officially not coming
I'm so excited! I love Fire Emblem!
@Caryslan
I like the cut of your jib. Your idea sounds quite similar to this one: https://overdeepgeek.wordpress.com/2014/06/02/how-to-fix-the-metroid-franchise/
Also, when she gave those sh!tty "thumbs downs" in the flashbacks. My eloquent thoughts on that were along the lines of: RRRRRRRRRRRR SO STUPID. SO ANGRY NOW.
To be fair, my biggest problems with Fusion revolved around the cookie-cutter nature of the weapons and items from Super Metroid and the stupid, forced linearity in the gameplay.
So. Much. Want.
YES YES YES
This and Wii downloads were my top picks for the direct. I was shocked to see this because I just assumed that with Steam coming out that we wouldn't see another FE game for a while.
I will buy this day one for sure. I still play Awakening.
YES!!!!!
@JJtheTexan Um, Metroid wasn't the only thing people were asking for. We wanted a new DKC, and we dang sure wanted a new Fire Emblem. Had they announced Metroid, other people would have said the exact same thing you're saying now, only about the other game they'd be doing without.
Metroid is but one little needle in a large haystack of desired games.
But anyways, chill. They said they got two in the works, they'll show em when they're ready
So first let me get my complaint out the way: I really wish this was for wiiu.
Ok welp that is done. I can not WAIT for this game. I'm still working through the dlc on awakening. That was such an amazing game. I'm very happy with this announcement...half my coworkers think im crazy now.
This is probably my most hyped Nintendo game now. Maybe except for SMT x FE, but we don't have a lot of infos on that so... Also, I feel that this game is going to be a LOT better than Awakening, wich was already good, but this looks epic! If it comes out this year... Also, CHARACTERS NOW HAVE FEET! So those idiots saying that Awakening sucked because of the lack of feet( I'm not kidding, some people really said that), now .... will probably complain about the grass.
@JJtheTexan I'll take Fire Emblem any day over Metroid.
Ah, why not. Loved Awakening so I'll definetly bite this.
Welp. This is my new most-hyped game.
Keep support system, improve storyline, that's what I want
Expletive-yes! I much prefer my tactical games to be on portables, so seeing this for 3DS instead of the U is even better. I'd be alright with one on the U, and I'd probably buy it, but it's an instant buy for me on the go.
looks fantastic, loved awakening and ill be getting this too
Holy...cow. It looks amazing. I LOVE Awakening so I won't hesitate on this.
I'll miss Awakening's cast though. It was the first Fire Emblem cast I really got to know well.
Oh, and I too just noticed the characters now have feet. Certainly not a deal breaker when they didn't in Awakening, but it was a little annoying all the same.
Well I am interested. Currently playing through the Fire Emblem game that was released on the Wii U gameboy advance line up a few weeks ago. I am pretty positive the blue haired dancer is the one from that game, Ninia or something like that. Gotta admit, i am curious to see what the story is in this next FE.
@Giygas_95
I'm playing Fire Emblem (GBA) right now and I'm growing quite fond of the cast. Also got Fire Emblem 6 (Binding Blade) on GBA with an English fan translation, as well as all 3 of the Japan-only SNES entries, all with English patches. Biggest of all though is the Japan-only FE12 (Heroes of Light and Shadow), which introduced casual/classic modes options before Awakenig ever was.
I can't recall a single FE where I didn't grow attached to the characters...
@JaxonH The ones I really want to play are the Tellius games. How I wish I could find copies of the for good prices...Ike is one of my main fighters in Smash so I'd love to play his games. As for the GBA ones, I have the one that's on Wii U now and haven't really delved into it much...I've played a lot of Sacred Stones on my 3DS though, and I've started to really enjoy it. Also have Shadow Dragon which I would say isn't quite as good as the others.
@JJtheTexan I feel your pain, and while I know it's not a perfect substitute, I'd recommend looking up Xeodrifter on the 3DS eshop if you haven't already. It's a really good 2D Metroid style game.
Like others, I so wanted this to be the Wii U crossover Fire Emblem game because those opening cinematics were stellar. sigh
@Quorthon @Caryslan
Yeah, there was nothing sexist in Fusion I can remember. I used to be frustrated with the linearity from playing on the GBA, but when I played it on Wii U recently, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Lots of really great secrets when you attempt to 100% it, too. It rocketed up as one of my favorites of the series.
Wasn't bothered much by Other M, either. I mean, I wish the game was better, and the character of Samus was unfamiliar and there was plenty of questionable stuff, but it was no where near the horrible experience for me that some people make it out to be. I quite enjoyed it.
I didn't like the style of voice direction for Samus, though. It amplified the elements of her subservience that so many balked at. It helped people ignore the soldier's duty and surrogate father aspects I think the story was meant to focus on and let them pin it on her womanhood.
The worst part for me is that it killed voice acting in Nintendo games right when they finally gave in and went for it. Hyrule Warriors should have had voice acting throughout the battles! Ahem. sigh
@Giygas_95 Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn are great. Such a larger scope than the other games.
Im going to assume this means the SMT x FE rumours were true
@aaronsullivan
The daddy issues are part of the rampant sexism in Other M--along with making Samus a damsel in distress in her own game and completely irrelevant to the plot around her. They reduced her to a crying little girl for no better reason than Samus is a female and ladies cry or whatever, we don't know, we've never actually met a real woman.
To be fair, a decade ago, I might not have caught this stuff quite so easily, and a lot of it came to light upon reflection on the game, but I understand sexism a lot more now, and more importantly, I know real women in reality. The way Samus was portrayed was nothing but pure misogynistic sexism. Subservient to people she clearly cared nothing for, unable to make her own decisions unless a man gives her permission, a disgusting emotional connection to an abusive father figure. Either Samus Aran is the most insanely broken human being imaginable, or Sakamoto flat-out hates women. And that's just so, so depressing.
Even Duke Nukem would be ashamed of this portrayal of women. And I played Duke Nukem Forever--and it wasn't as sexist as Other M. Not even close. Duke was certainly callous and humorless, but even the lame "boob-walls" wasn't this disturbing.
If you don't know much about the character of Samus Aran, keep in mind that she spent a bulk of Other M fawning over and whining about a character of a species that she previously had no problem driving to extinction and which, when she captured it, she gave it over to Federation scientists to be heavily studied and used in a lab. The Metroid hatchling imprinted on Samus, and Samus took advantage of this. It was never something she cared about. Because that was not in her character--as a hunter, a fighter, and a warrior.
Other M directly contradicts the OTHER GAMES made by Sakamoto himself. Other M is an amazing game that, somehow, beyond all reason, gets infinitely worse every time you look at it.
What a terrible, terrible game. Riles me up every time I think about it.
Awesome, very excited about this game. Defiantly gonna get it along with Majora's Mask.
@aaronsullivan
As for Hyrule Warriors, my favorite line was when Zelda said, "ahh! Ehh? Ohhh! Err!"
Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh I'm mean, I'm excited. I love FE no matter what platform it's on, but I hate how much Intelligent systems is avoiding consoles lately. Because no matter how much I loved FE:A, there's no way it would NOT be better in HD, with better sounds, bigger screen, and better control options. I know, I shouldn't complain, I'll take what I can get, but I wish Intelligent systems would have the juevos to release a game on Wii U (like Monolith). Heck, they aren't even making a Paper Mario Wii U. At the very least they could do that (after the meh handheld interation).
Wow...unexpected but cool! Got mixed feelings though. Awakening is SUCH a great game so if this one shapes up to be even half as good it will be awesome but...It just feels like Awakening needs to stand alone as THE handheld FE game. Like if I get this I will be replacing a child with another which I can't do. Haha. Ok, maybe that's a little over-dramatic.
Hmmmm... I was hoping to see Advance Wars, but nope, more Fire Emblem.
@Quorthon
Didn't realize we were we listing off qualifications for understanding sexism in stories and games? Why did you say "more importantly, I know real women in reality". I found that confusing. Congratulations. I have a female mother, wife, cousins and I'm bringing up a daughter in reality and majored in film/video/animation. Do I qualify?
I still think the analysis of Other M is completely overblown due to a well-timed sensationalist article. I haven't played it in awhile and I'll probably scrutinize it more next time. Not excusing it, but people's reactions have just escalated far beyond rational thought.
"If you don't know much about the character of Samus Aran, keep in mind that she spent a bulk of Other M fawning over and whining about a character of a species that she previously had no problem driving to extinction and which, when she captured it, she gave it over to Federation scientists to be heavily studied and used in a lab. The Metroid hatchling imprinted on Samus, and Samus took advantage of this. It was never something she cared about. Because that was not in her character--as a hunter, a fighter, and a warrior."
That's a nice interpretation. Nowhere ever stated or even suggested. In was told in a flashback story for Super Metroid with no space for emotional storytelling until the end of the game. That's when, the a sacrificial act, the thing saved her life... after she annihilated almost its entire species and then merged it's "life force" or something with her. What kind of cold, sick, human would she be if that didn't effect her?
Now, the details of how that was explored were ham-handed and overly emotional and featured way too much "baby", but you are grossly overstating your case, in my estimation.
@BigDaddysPizza I love Fire Emblem and all but we have nothing on the upcoming Advance Wars game other than it probably will be released at some point in the future. Fire Emblem already has a game on the 3DS.
Did anyone else notice they have FEET now??
YES YES YES YES YES.
Is this the first Fire Emblem game that takes place mainly in an Eastern setting rather than a Western one?
Also, yes, they now have feet, but it's pretty obvious the game runs on the same engine as Awakening. They already previously said the lack of feet on the 3D models in Awakening was due to assumed system limitations that they later figured out weren't there.
@aaronsullivan
Oh, I'm sure it would affect her, but that's not really what they focused on. As someone going into a form of storytelling, would it not make more sense to have Samus do self-reflection on her preconceived notions of the Metroid species as a whole? Perhaps there is more to them than the "living weapon" they were, literally, designed (by the Chozo) to be. Instead, they boiled Samus' character to an unfitting cliche' of "mommyhood."
Look, here's the simplest way to look at Other M. Would you have accepted the characterization and writing in that game (ham-fisted as it was), if Samus was a male character? Would you accept him feeling like a daddy to the hatchling? Would you accept him calling it baby the whole time? Would you accept him crying when seeing Ridley--a character Samus Aran has literally killed so many times that she would've been better served with a snide joke about how much people love cloning such a dangerous creature? Would we accept Samus Aran's terrifying and crippling relationship with a hateful former commander, if Samus was a man?
I'm betting the answer to all of those is an emphatic "no," and if we try to pull the old "it's different because ladyparts," that is a root of sexism.
They attempted to give Samus depth, but without any logic to it. There are actual concerns--are the Metroids more than living weapons? Has she been killing a potentially benevolent species (put it in the context of how pit bulls are treated--with humane owners, they're wonderful animals)? Has the Federation been using her this whole time? That would have been incredible depth and storytelling anyone could enjoy, because it's realistic and it fits the character, one whose nickname is "the hunter."
Instead, they boiled it down to concepts of feminity that were outdated even in the 50's. Samus is a woman, and her connection to the hatchling is mommy feelings. Do you have "daddy feelings" for a dog?
No, I've looked at this an awful lot. Too much for something I loathe. It's not overblown--it's disturbingly accurate. Watch the Alien movies at some point, or rewatch them--at least the first four. Metroid was originally based off this franchise, and the inspiration for Samus came from Ellen Ripley. Literally the only time motherhood comes into character development for her is when she sees an opportunity, as it were, to protect a lost little girl as she missed out on the entire life of her real daughter.
Again, Samus also did not affect the plot and she was frequently needing to be saved by the idiot male stereotypes in the game--she was literally useless unless a male character guided or helped her. The same character that previously drove an entire species to extinction with no remorse.
If you do play it again (and what masochism you must have!), keep asking if you'd accept the plot if Samus were a male character. When you say, there's no way in hell, keep that in mind. That's pure sexism. Look at, say, Gears of War on the other hand, and every character there can be switched in their gender, and the character depth would still work and the story would be just as strong--and if you're not aware, Gears 2 and 3 had some great storytelling.
@Quorthon
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa... easy with your claims about Sakamoto, because they easily qualify as ad hominem (since you're attacking his character, and "misoginy/sexism" is the go-to slander of this day and age). Sakamoto is just a hack writer and he shouldn't touch Metroid again because of that.
Won't defend the piece of garbage of story that Other M has, but it's garbage due incomptence rather than straight up "hatred for women" and for basically crapping over our collective view of Samus.
@AJ_Lethal
An ad hominem would be if I said he used to be a garbage man or doesn't have a Master's Degree and that's why Other M sucked.
What I said is directly related, he must be or have misogynistic qualities for the writing to reflect so much of it. When we write, we tend to write from the heart, what we feel, etc. It is safe to say that he must have some of these qualities in order to plunge them into the game to that extent.
Humorously, notoriously sexist Team Ninja placed all the blame on Sakamoto.
Oh God yes. And if they can truly improve upon what awakening laid down, them this will be a fantastic game. It already seems to be trying to improve story wise, which is good because Awakening's story had some problems. I am very very excited.
@Quorthon
Not really, that's too much of a jump in logic.
Hence the logical fallacy
@Quorthon
We get it, you don't like metroid other m because it portrays her as submissive to a male officer authority figure that she views as a second father. Nobody cares. Stay on topic, this is about fire emblem, not juvenile obsessive hate on a good game
@Quorthon
That's the problem with you types of cynical people. You try to find problems that aren't there. Just because you adhere to the cult of neo feminism doesn't mean that women can't fulfill a certain gender role just because you say so. If you don't like it, don't play. Stop shoving your flawed activism down our throats and grow a sense of humor.
Any way, ignoring that thing know as quorthon,
The story was the number 1 thing needed to be improved upon
I hope this releases 2015.
2016 would kill me :<
(knowing nintendo, they might just do that :l)
OMG please release this year!!!! Do what Pokemon has been doing recently and let us have this the day Japan gets it please!!! Please still have relationships in the game. And, sorry to those who did want this on the Wii U but I am glad it is not. I don't have that kind of money.
YEAAAAAAH!!!! LOVE THIS SERIES!
Hahaha I saw this at the Nintendo Direct live and as soon as I saw the gameplay, I started to scream. I am sooooooooooooo happy that they are putting out another FE game. FE:Awakening was my first FE game and I have been loving games in the series ever since. Definitely, it became one of my favorites on the 3ds. I hope it lives up to expectations and I really can't wait for this!!
I am IN. I would like to see something about SMT x FE, though, like maybe a date?
...Those characters look very Persona Q-esque... or is that just me? Not a bad thing, I love heavily anime-inspired characters. Also, hope the "choices" are very VN-esque, that would be awesome, mixing strategy, rpg, AND Visual Novel into one game. Also... what happened to SMT X FE?
No official title? I hope this releases in NA in 2015, but I find it crazy how so many Nintendo reveals have no official title.
@Quorthon Fusion was mixed for me. I certainly wasn't a fan of the sexism (same with Other M) but I did like the direction they went in for making her part Metroid. It would be interesting to see the repercussions of becoming a hybrid for Samus.
@Sonicman They mentioned in the trailer that they were bringing in a famous comic book writer (manga) to write the story so maybe they had some influence on the character design as well.
I cant wait however my guess is I will have to wait until next year to play it.
@Ernest_The_Crab
Now, see, that would actually make for an interesting story. Especially then Samus could have a "duality" story about her where she attempts to separate "her" from the "metroid" within her, and starts to exhibit violent tendencies befitting the creatures. THAT simple story element you mentioned could have spawned such an intriguing narrative--one where she could even draw on her past with Phazon corruption to fight off the issues.
Good Metroid storylines are so easy to come by, they almost write themselves. I just can't figure where they came up with such an empty, cliche-addled mess that defined Other M.
Then there's this one online: https://overdeepgeek.wordpress.com/2014/06/02/how-to-fix-the-metroid-franchise/
A cool! I already hoped they would do another one for the 3DS. Awakening was awesome. I have still to beat Awakening though. Still some grinding to do before I can tackle the last chapter.
It seems the FE fan consensus (at least in this forum) is that most wish it was an announcement for the Wii U. Even the series producer said it's a series that's really meant for the big screen, in home couch sessions. But the portable ones pay for the console versions so it's not too surprising we'd see another FE for 3DS. Even still, we need to see one for Wii U and soon!
Awakening is one of the best 3DS games so can't wait for a new Fire Emblem!
I wonder if they'd even consider making a Wii U counterpart kind of like Xenoblade did. I'm super excited for this but I'd really like to see an HD home version for my television.
@Tiredman I'm not sure about that being Ninian, the eyes are kinda the wrong colour. It could be, though.
Personally, I'm more confused about the magic white ghost thingy.
@JaxonH Except you had a Fire Emblem game in 2012. We haven't had a game since 2010, and that game was crap. Metroid deserves a new game more than Fire Emblem if you ask me. Metroid fans have been asking for it for a long time.
@FlameSpirit
The two don't have to be mutually exclusive. Intelligent Systems only does strategy, for the most part they're pretty much known as the Fire Emblem devs. This game is not what's keeping you (us) from a new Metroid.
Nintendo said they have not one but two Metroids in the pipeline. All in due time. For the record though, we all know the reason it's taken longer than usual is the overreaction to Other M. This is what happens when people spit in Nintendo's face. They say ok fine, we'll give the franchise a rest.
We all want to see a new Metroid. But there are other franchises too. We saw 5 Metroid home console games since the GameCube. Yet only 2 Fire Emblem games. And only 2 DKC games. Something to keep in mind. Doesn't matter anyways though because Nintendo isn't a parent treating each fanbase with equality. There is no equality in business. They make what sells and what's popular at any given time. Sometimes we see 5 games in 2 generations, other times we see no games for 5+ years. It's not about deserving a new entry, it's about making money.
I'm excited for the next Metroid too, but I'm not going to point fingers at other great games and say "it's all your fault we don't have a Metroid". The fault is the reaction and sales of Other M. Nothing more
Very excited to see a new fire emblem title. I would have loved it to be on Wii U, but I'm just glad they have something in the works.
