Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire may be just arriving in Europe this week, but 3DS Trainers in North America and Australia have been catching them all — or trying to — for nearly a week already. All is not perfect with the excellent remakes, however, as some have come across a bug that causes the game to freeze.
Those that have made it to the end of the game may have encountered this freeze when it switches from the Hall of Fame to the ending movie, and that'll be the focus of the version 1.2 patch due in early December. We've already had patch 1.1 fix 'various bugs', so after this update the title will hopefully be free of such issues.
We thoroughly enjoyed Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire in our review and didn't encounter this freeze — it's positive news nevertheless that it'll be cleared in an update, though naturally it's preferable for such bugs to not make it through in the first place.
Has this problem affected you? Let us know.

If the freeze occurs before the game is saved, it's one hell of a gamebreaker - for now.
Well at least the freezing takes care of the water, so there isn't too much of it now...
So 8.9!
patch 1.3 less water -IGN
@Kaze_Memaryu Even worse if the freezing occurs DURING the period of which the game saves after you beat the Hall of Fame (I really hope that doesn't happen to me).
@Punished_Boss_84
LOL
It's a bit worrying that Pokémon games are suffering from bugs more and more.
@Wouwter
Annual franchises have that problem, wonder why?
Version 1.2 used Flamethrower! Version 1.1 was defrosted!
@Drawdler

This guy!
After ver 1.2 : IGN - too less water - 6.8
@Punished_Boss_84 I just expect better from GameFreak/Nintendo.
@Punished_Boss_84
Too much ice skating! 7.8/10
Getting Alpha Sapphire tomorrow. This'll be a good reason to take things slow.
@Wouwter I'm assuming that since the games are now being in 3D, its going to be difficult for game freak for the pokemon games to run smooth with 3D in mind. Even if this game is in 2D, we'd still buy it because.....its pokemon we're talking about here.
After being humiliated by the player, Glacia gets her revenge by using her ice types to freeze time and space.
Unfortunately, my copy still hasn't arrived. I bought it with SSB from Toys R Us, which I bought there for the free Amiibo. I have the Amiibo, but both games are still hundreds of miles away. On the bright side, maybe this bug will be fixed by the time I get my copy.
Thanks for the heads up! I was due to be battling the Elite Four probably by the weekend so I'll be waiting for the patch now just in case.
@Punished_Boss_84 Easy answer: "short Deadlines, many details in graphics and lines programming, limited tests for short limit time, well, all for time, plus, need many people for save time, but more money for invest and one thing more, consumers that want games in little time, profits that don't want lose", then, Draw your conclusions.
my game's fine.. I was still playing not freeze at all.. bec I saved often...I don't care much water.. I really enjoy the game.
Luckily, The game freeze didn't happen to me.
@ShockeyRai Same here. I got through the Ending cinematic with no freezing at all~
I got OR day 1 and beat it the next day without any problems. The one thing I do hate about X & Y and ORAS is that the battles are so slow. In Black and White, you tap Bag-Hp/Pp Restore-Potion-done! It's instant. You can get through the menus as fast as your finger can move. But in these new games, there's a frustrating pause after each tap. It's like it has to load. It's awful.
@Artwark Hmm, would the 3D have any effect on gamefreezing bugs? Or that save-corrupting bug from X&Y? (I would buy another 2D game though, HG/SS are still my favourite. Pls GameFreak, let my Pokémon walk behind me again!)
@ekreig Sure, but shouldn't a bug like this have been spotted and fixed before release?
@Wouwter Implying games before this weren't even buggier.
its one bug vs. rushed games with 300+ bugs cough,cough,assassin'screed unity,cough,cough
My game didn't freeze. I wonder how many people experienced freezing
Well it is Pokemon. Of course there are going to be a few bugs in it.
My favourite is Scizor.
@justastone Games in general or Pokémon games? I don't think I've ever really had any problems with the Pokémon games, these bugs just seem kinda serious.
I hope they will fix the long while that the game takes to connect to internet...
Looks like by the time I pop this in on Christmas the water will be all drank away..
@Wouwter Umm, are you sure about that? Pokémon games have only gotten better in terms of glitches over the years. Case in point- Missingno.
@happylittlepigs The first game had that yes (and you basically had to trigger that yourself), but after that I haven't heard anything like that, until X&Y and ORAS. Please feel free to give other examples though, I'm probably pretty ignorant about this.
The missigno bug never broke my game though, it just gave me 99 items. (There were more of those things, like cloning a pokémon by interrupting a trade. Ah, the good old days of trading in the playground.)
