We're big fans of Platinum Games here at Nintendo Life, even to the point that we praised its Wii U legacy just recently. While many may be enjoying its latest release — Bayonetta 2 — on Wii U, some cool unlockable details for The Wonderful 101 may have some going back to the bonkers-yet-brilliant action game released in 2013.
It's no secret that there are a host of fantastic 'Wonderful Ones' to collect in the game, some of which could be termed as 'Easter Eggs' or, at the very least, fun references to other games. While many are other characters from the game, it's always been possible to unlock Bayonetta, Rodin and Jeanne as a set of Wonderful Ones that can then be purchased through the in-game shop. The trouble is that the unlock requirements can be rather punishing, in keeping with Platinum's general policy of making gamers work for their rewards. You can see these characters below.
In typical Platinum style there's an obscure unlock code that it's now revealed, however, which means we can all get these characters by inputting commands at the right spot and then forking over two million of in-game currency to buy the set. For Bayonetta and chums, go to the area pictured below (start of operation 001) and enter the following code:
While pressing ZR: ↑ ↓ ↑ → ← XBYA
If you've done it right you should hear a notification sound, and you'll need to save up the in-game money, of course. You can see more details on unlocking other characters over on this NeoGaf thread.
Try it out and let us know how you get on!

Cool
Awesome. I've been going back through each level with a guide to collect every single item and get a Platinum or Pure Platinum for almost every stage medal. I already planned to give up on PPing the boss fights on Hard, but now I can at least put in a code for the characters I've missed.
Also, I wonder if you can use the credit card to buy these characters instead of having to come up with the cash.
Awesome!
That's pretty sweet.
Ah, I miss the days of in-game button input cheats.
It's about time to get a copy of Wonderful 101
I'll have to try this out...AFTER Smash Bros. While I'm at it, I should also get Bayonetta 1 and 2.
@NintendoFan64 Havent played wonderful 101 but i saw all of the cut-scenes online and it has really good/funny story/characters.As for bayonetta i m already playing it and its as awesome as the revews it was getting. Its one of the few games that i agree that it deserved those 10/10 it got.
has anyone gotten this to work?? I can't figure out if im supposed to use the dpad or draw on the gamepad.
Cool. I'll have to pop Wonderful 101 back in and see if I can get this to work.
I thought "Co" was a character
Fan flippin tastic! I feel it would be a great idea for Platinum to bundle these 2 (3) games together for $79.99 USD. The W101 deserves more attention!
I love it when devs put little easter eggs and extras in their games. Especially when it references another title they made. But Platinum was already amazing without doing fun stuff like this ^^
edit: and I agree, The Wonderful 101 doesn't get nearly enough recognition it so well deserves. I hope Bayonetta 2 sells enough copies to keep Nintendo's/SEGA's/Platinums relationship healthy. I would be sad if these would be the only Platinum-made games on Nintendo Hardware. We're already going to miss out on Scalebound...but I can't fault them for partnering with Xbox. (as they did the same for Nintendo to give us Bayo 2 exclusive.)
@rdrunner1178 If you manage to get it to work (or anyone else for that matter) please let me know! Thanks
Glad I earned my Bayonetta and Jeanie in game instead of buying them got every bottle cap.
@AyeHaley I think given that SEGA's involved, Sonic Boom sales will have to be taken into account as well.
That's pretty cute.
@Grumblevolcano - Sega better start advertising Sonic Boom or there wont be any sales to take into account, because, you know, Watch Dogs is coming out on Wii U a week later. Oh, and maybe something else, I forget
Very cool. I also gave up doing some of the hardest things, and I actually believed the difficulty of getting these characters actually defeated their purpose as easter eggs, because only a lucky few would see them.
I only have Rodin, so I may try the code to get the girls.
Still re-playing Bayonetta (1) but I hope 2 will in one way or another offer a Wonder-Eyes Pink costume to Bayonetta. I'll try this trick in the near future, thanks!
cool, its sitting on my shelf still needing to be played so i will look forward to this.
@Bizzyb it works fine with the d-pad. It doesn't require precise timing.
I NEED Bayonetta in my Wonderful 101
AWESOME!! Thank you very much!!
Loving the Wonderful 101 love from Platinum
@Shambo Oooh wonder pink is so awesome!
I think she'd be a great addition to the set, both fiesty and erotic in character.
Doesn't work. I just tried it 25 times, and there was no confirmation noise of any kind. This should be labeled as "Rumor" until someone actually confirms that it works, what versions of the game it works for, and what conditions must be met for it to work.
Has anyone gotten this to work? I don't get a confirmation noise, and who knows where I would go to purchase them even if I did?
I've got a feeling Western copies might need an update for this to take effect or something, or maybe it's Japanese only. I haven't seen one single confirmation on the Internet that this works for those of us in the west.
@danacol
I don't understand, I tried the code with the right stick, the left stick, and the D pad for the last 45 minutes, and absolutely could not get it to work. Now, I read that you do have to have beaten the game for the code to work, but I have beaten the game so I don't understand what the problem is.
What region are you in? Maybe certain regions can't use the code right now or something.... Idk, there's got to be an explanation why this won't work for some of us.
Yeah same here, it does not work. I saw it without holding ZR and this version here, but I get no confirmation sound nor any characters and I beat the game.
lies....all lies!
They made her G (E for Everybody) rated, xD
I wish they had Wonder Wolf in this game too ; )
I love this game but am rubbish at it, i wish platinum would release a separate game based on the shooter sections as they are beautiful.
I tried putting in that code at that place for a while, never worked. Tried with a completed save and a brand new save. Not sure this even works with the NA version....
OK guys, it works!
1. Use the d-pad
2. You must be in VERY specific spots for each stage. Refer to the screen caps in the NeoGaf thread. Even pressing ZR (dodge) will cause you to move from spot so make sure you are in exact correct position.
Edit: ***Also, VERY IMPORTANT, you need 200,000 O parts to unlock the Bayonetta characters. All other character sets codt 100,000. Using the code will AUTOMATICALLY deduct the money. Not having enough money will not allow the code to work. ***
@Bizzyb thanks for that
@Bizzyb Thanks! Got it to work, but for Bayonetta and friends, you need 2,000,000, and for the other groups, 1,000,000.
@allav866 No problem! Im just upset litterally no one bothered to give specific details on how this worked...and are you sure its in the millions? That sounds like an awful lot but either way its not that hard to earn O-parts (money) in this game. Esp during some boss fights.
