Pokémon X & Pokémon Y have done particularly well since arriving on 3DS, selling an impressive number of copies and — with follow-up apps such as Pokémon Bank — is likely still keeping plenty of players entertained months after release. As is always the case with those Pocket Monsters, though, there's always something else to anticipate.
On the games front we have the imminent arrival of Pokémon Battle Trozei / Pokémon Link: Battle! to provide a puzzle fix for 'mon fans, but those that enjoy diving into the lore are likely already looking ahead to Pokémon XY The Movie - The Cocoon of Destruction & Diancie, which is on the way to Japan on 19th July. A brief summary is below.
The Diamond Ore Country is a beautiful land located deep underground, where the "Jewel Pokémon" Carbink live in peace and prosperity. In this country, a giant diamond known as the "Sacred Diamond" can be found. The Sacred Diamond has played the role of an important energy resource throughout the ages. However, the princess of the Diamond Ore Country, Diancie, currently does not possess this power.Having encountered Satoshi and Pikachu, Diancie sets out on a journey to save her country; a journey in search of the "Life Pokémon" Xerneas, seeking its sacred power.Along the way, Rocket Gang, the thief named Marilyn, and a Ninja thief attack Diancie. Can Diancie save its country? And what is the fate of Satoshi and Pikachu! Along for the journey are the parent-child combo of Milis and Argos,but on the journey, they find a cocoon where the "Destruction Pokémon" Yveltal, which is said to have once eradicated all life in the Kalos region, sleeps...
The latest trailer is well worth a watch, including as it does plenty of action and impressive animation. We're not entirely sure what's happening all of the time, but it sure looks fun; check it out below and let us know what you think.

This is interesting...
Wait.... Where's Clemont? Will Ash find another person to travel with?????
@Lance168 He's in the opening scene that they appear in.
I'm so stoked to see this movie!
@FlameTaJaDoru That'd be super awesome but I bet it's just like the other Event Pokémon we get them from PokéMart guy.
Wow. Nice trailer. I actually wanna see it now...
Yveltal. Looks. AWESOME!
My favorite legendary is the poster boy of the first gen VI movie.
So Ash has been 10 since I was about ten but he never aged, and even though he's traveled through many regions and met lot's of people that doesn't seem to change... Seems legit
@Buduski
in one of the episodes, Ash says that he met Pikachu 2 years ago and then later, he is still said to be 10 years old. lol
Another odd thing was when Ash first met Brock, Brock's father says that his wife passed away meaning Brock's mother passed away ( i believe is is "Showdown in Pewter City" One of the first few episodes.) but Lola, Brock's mother is seen in later episodes.
The show is filled with all kinds of things that contradict things
@ikki5 It's is screwed up like that. Almost like the zelda timeline where everything is parallel universes..
Unless brock took from his dad and lied her death and cheated on her..
@ikki5 Yeah they later said she just got bored of looking after her family so just abandoned them. Not cool
@ikki5 in wich wpisode? I remember Misty saying that they traveled together for 1 year in battle for the badge, and Ash and co celebrating birthday in pikachu and the pichu-bros. Special, but I cant remember someone saying two years
@rdenton85 actualy, she traveled and caught water-pokemons to their gym
Man, Ash's Japanese voice is so much more bearable than his English... Anyways, this looks pretty cool. Also, I think that cutesy, high-pitched voice at the end was Diancie speaking, right?
Pokemon is so hard to watch nowadays.
@Buduski There's actually a theory saying that Ash fell in to a coma when he fell out of bed in the first episode, and all the rest of the series is only a dream...O.O
@WillhamBoyGeniu What was so problematic about this trailer, though?
@Interneto That it will eventually be dubbed to other languages and the voices we all love, lol.
This time, excrement hits the rotating device.
@PrincessEevee9 Actually there is a side quest to get Diancie in the games.
@JellySplat, yeah I've heard of that theory but a litlle different, the way I read it was that he supposedly fell into a coma after he got hit by that thunder in the first episode.
@ikki5, yeah you're right, thats why there are so many crazy fan theories to pokemon.
@Buduski it's anime, it doesn't have to make sense
Very cool i love these nintendo anime cartoons.
@FlameTaJaDoru could say the same about the simpsons and family guy and some other shows then. Move along, nothing new here.
It's very clear to me that ash found a fountain of youth during his early adventures.
I hope the US version isn't so short like the last two films.As long as it is better than Genesect and the Legend Awakened,I'm fine with seeing it.
Go Yveltal, Woop! Destroy that deer!
WOOOHOO! Excuse me? July 19th IN JAPAN? WAHHHHHHH!
@KTT Well like it or not.... Pokemon is anime, it's a Japanese cartoon so we consider it anime. In japan anything that is cartoon (like sponge-bob), and animated (like Frozen) is also considered anime. just heads-up
and yes you could say it is your personal opinion also, just saying
In the previous promotion for this movie it showed the movie having almost all the Mega Pokemon, but now it's only a few of them. Where did the rest of them go?
Will Diantha be in this movie with Mega Gardevoir? I hope so, that way Mega Gardevoir could be shown at its best rather then some fodder to be beaten up.
Here comes a shiny Diancie EXCLUSIVE to Japan, I bet!
@Buduski
LOL. My thoughts exactly. But like @Uberchu said, this isn't the only show that does this.
@ikki5
The contradiction concerning Brock's mother is dub-only. In the original Japanese version, Brock/Takeshi has two deadbeat parents who both abandoned him and his siblings. Perhaps the American writers thought that was too dark, so they killed off his mom, not expecting that the Japanese writers would actually bring the character back later. It's a problem with the dub, not the series itself.
The "it's been two years" lines and stuff like that might be dub-only as well; I can't remember.
As for the new movie, that's a pretty cool trailer. I'll definitely be importing the Japanese blu-ray like I did with the "Best Wishes!" movies and the "Origin" special.
Is it just me, or does Ash sound like Eren from Attack on Titan when he yells?
@ikki5 I've heard that the original Japanese dialogue said Brock's mother ran off just like his father did. The English dub then changed it not knowing that they were writing themselves into a plothole.
EDIT: Oh, MagicBox beat me to it. Should've read all the comments first before posting.
@KTT Let's see made by Japan, Eastern-style animation, not made by anybody else but them. Not can't call Pokemon Anime.
@Interneto There might be but you can't get her legally until Gamefreak officially distributes her.
@KTT I can understand that but it's still beats most series if we really compare it to several other long-standing series. And for a show based off the games it's still going strong.
@PrincessEevee9 But there's a youtube video from someone who hacked the game where you can see some people talking about Diancie as if you met them before. This implies that we get a side quest about them and the legendary Pokémon.
OMG I can't wait for this movie knowing Japan will get it early than North America we might get it in September or October.
