Late last week Nintendo of America revealed three Wii classics getting a price reduction in the region ahead of the Holiday season. Nintendo of Europe is now making the same move, in its case adding four new titles to the Nintendo Selects range.
Although recommended prices aren't provided in Europe as they are in North America, the Nintendo Selects range typically retails for £19.99 and less in the UK or €24.99 and less in Europe. With that in mind the range can offer a great chance to pick up quality games that may have been missed; the four new titles include a few huge hits, and will be released on 18th October — check them out below.
- Mario Kart Wii
- Super Smash Bros. Brawl
- Donkey Kong Country Returns
- PokéPark Wii: Pikachu's Adventure
Do you own all of these already, or plan to pick any of them up? Let us know in the comments below.

I've never played a Smash Bros. game... please don't judge me. Have MK Wii & DKCR, in fact my daughter has just started playing it, maybe it's time I tried Brawl
Not a second goes past that the Wii U doesn't wish it had a Mario Kart.
It was surprising that SSBB and MK:W wasn't already part of the selects range.
a good chance to pick up DK before the sequel
Any idea if this is happening down under in Australia? I guess I can just import them from the UK, but eh.
@MJKOP too late, JUDGED! In all seriousness though, if you're gonna start anywhere I'd recommend Melée.
Again, these games have been selling at full price at most major retailers until now? This must be why a lot of 3rd parties don't like Nintendo
@Cohort It's amazing how major Ninty games retain retail value. I still see Mario Kart DS for £25-30.
@AhabSpampurse lol ok thanks
I hope nobody is buying the games at full price these days. Bought DKCR new for £10 last December and Mario Kart and Smash for £15 each early this year.
@ThomasBW84 what's disgusting is at a Toys "R" Us in my hometown has Mario Kart DS for $55. Whilst Mario Kart 7 is $40. O.O Really? WTF!
I never actually got Mario Kart Wii or Super Smash Bros Brawl on Wii. Was waiting for Wii U versions of both, but am sorely tempted as I don't really like spending £40 on a single videogame...
I was hoping for mario galaxy 2 I've still not played it & won't until it receives a price drop.
And as usual these will all be €30 in Ireland
Never played smash bros, found it completely hectic to follow. What am I missing?
Too late Nintendo, too late.
Well, Nintendo Selects remains are fairly unattractive as well as unimportant series, but at least this time it comes with some welcome additions. MK and DKC had still been relatively expensive till now, while SSBB is actually hard to find at all. So for those who don't want to buy an used copy this will be good news. I wished Nintendo would do the same with Fire Emblem, for instance.
And I wished SMG2 or Xenoblade would be included, they are out long enough.
Not to speak of Metroid Prime...
@Peach64 Amazingly people do, that's why GAME managed to last as long as it has.. NSMB is still £37.99 there.
Also on the subject of GAME, they have FIFA 14 listed for Wii? Bizarre...
Damn you lucky people. I really want Mario Kart Wii but I'm not paying $55 for it.
@Cohort Why is that wierd? FIFA 14 on Wii is a real thing, NL reported on it a while back here: http://bit.ly/15YSWDn
Again, these should all be downloadable titles on the Wii U eShop for $20 each. Its like they can't see the nose in front of their face when it comes to the eShop.
@MJKOP - The first time I played Melee I played for about an hour and went to bed planning on returning it the next day. There was nothing to it, just 3 minute fights. Next day I gave it another go and realized it has the most options of any game I ever played. Every fight you can control the number of players 2-4, each's ones ability from 1-9. teams of 1 vs 3 or 2 on 2 or all for one, fight for health, fight for money, item selection, etc. Brawl i seven better - you can build your own levels, it has a special 3 piece item you need to fight for during battle. Brawl also has 1 of the best 2 player co-op side-scrolling fighting game platformers you can play in Subspace Emissary. If you want to play a fun game w/ your daughter you can just play that and get your money's worth w/o ever doing a normal fight. But w/ so many options you never need do just a normal fight.
I can't believe Pokepark is still full price years after the sequel came out. Don't 1st games normally drop in price so people pick them up so they want the sequel?
@WiiLovePeace Wow, I didn't see that, I don't visit this site everyday you know
How much are you betting that FIFA 14 is exactly the same as FIFA 13 but will be at full price?
Meanwhile in Australia... -.-
Pokepark Wii is interesting because all other games will have sequels to be release, maybe this indicate to be true the rumor about a new pokemon game on WiiU..
I have all but Pokepark Wii. Heck, Super Smash Bros. Brawl was my first Wii game, which I got in a bet.
Three of those games would move quickly up on my purchase (or repurchase) list if the repricing came to the North America. I am still spending more time in Wii mode on the Wii U than in anything else because I can pick up so many Wii games now dirt cheap. It's just a shame though that the online parts have been disabled.
Those first 3 are some great games. Can't speak for the Pokemon one since I never played it.
Already own all of those, expect for Poképark. I do like the Nintendo Selects though. I once rented Animal Crossing: Let's go to the City (or Animal Crossing: City Folk) and just had to buy it. But the original version wasn't available anymore anywhere. So got the select version without Wii Speak, and kept playing it until Animal Crossing: New Leaf.
I might rebuy Mario Kart if we get this as a Select in NA at some point.
@Cohort You don't need to visit the site everyday, a simple search of "fifa 14 wii" in the searchbar at the top of the page would've gotten you the answer you needed & I bet it'll be extremely different to FIFA 13 on Wii i.e. different grass as FIFA 13 was to FIFA 12: http://bit.ly/1en1duV
@WiiLovePeace But I didn't even know that FIFA 14 even existed until a few hours ago, I was in a state of bemusement!
Oh, well different grass textures... that'll be well worth the £39.99 price tag, I love those grass textures
Actually, the visuals for the last couple of FIFA games on Wii were absolutely shocking, they would be an embarrassment for a PS2 even!
I don't need buy Galaxy 2 again but I am surprised it's not on the list! I wonder if they could both end up on one disc? A wii disc I think not but Wii-U? it's possible
Mario Kart Wii has sold like 35-million copies. How many would they have sold by now if it had been released as a Nintendo Select from the beginning?
