Aban Hawkins and the 1,001 Spikes was announced for the Wii U and 3DS eShop platforms way back in April 2012, with the original target being to release the title on both systems that year. It's a project that's fallen largely silent, however, though publisher Nicalis has provided updates on Twitter to state that the release is planned for later this year — the title is now also coming to PS4 and the PS Vita.
The delay to release hasn't put a halt on our interest, however, especially with confirmation that Gaijin Games' CommanderVideo character will be playable. He was confirmed to appear in last year's trailer, below, but a new screen posted on Instagram shows the hero in action; as this is supposed to be an exceptionally tough platformer, the multi-talented mascot is sure to be a useful asset.
There have been numerous examples of indie game characters crossing over into each other's titles, so this is another to add for the list. We certainly hope to see this title finally make its bow on the 3DS and Wii U soon, as well.

Oh cool. That's a nice advantage. For anyone that just wants to play it, it's like a dollar on XBL. I didn't really like it,
@Retro_on_theGo I think this is a new game...
also I dig this retro style look!
Completely forgot about this game!
@kasplat Nope. It's an enhanced remake of the original release on XBL. The original had the same name except it was "1000" instead of "1001" spikes.
@Macarony64 Yeah, it's the same. This is essentially a remake.
Don't know if this is the same game but I was sad that the Xbox version was hidden in the trash er Indie section of live.
Captain Viridian would be a better fit.
I played the demo of the 360 version some time ago, and while it was tough, it was really fun.
Can't wait for this to hit 3DS.
This is irrelevant, but where's that Korg music app??
@RR529: I can't wait either;)
It looks pretty difficult. Traversing a plethora of traps is bad enough, but those big floaty letters popping up all the time must make it a nightmare!
Gonna have to pick this up, Nicalis always brings quality
Enhanced remake means new game .
Looks good actually, bring it ill buy it
Cool.
Truly epic. "I am only a man"
Old-school in graphics, sound, and unforgiving difficulty. This seems like the kind of title I'll definitely dig.
@Retro_on_theGo you talkin' bout bit.trip? Cause I think this game has yet to be released... But if bit.trip ain't that fun for a buck... Thanks for the heads up!
Derp! I spoke before I continued reading... This is part of a franchise that has yet to grace the Nintendo.
I haven't heard of this game until now. It looks interesting.
