Nintendo's going all-out on coloured consoles these days: after the red, pink and white 3DS consoles, the company has announced a new blue Wii bundle on the way to Europe before Christmas.
The newly announced pack is in honour of Mario and Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games, out 18th November, and includes a copy of the game, a Wii Remote Plus and Nunchuk, as well as a sheet of stickers. This console will be the Wii's new model, which means it lacks the GameCube memory card and controller ports, though as M&S Olympics is all about motion controls that's not really a problem.
Last year's red Mario console was pretty nice: what do you make of this year's blue model?
Incidentally, the press release ends with Nintendo promising "more fun Wii bundles to be announced". Who wants to put money on a Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword console?

I want a blue Wii!! How very cool!
Does this mean We'll finally get blue Nunchuck?
No thanks.
My white Wii's been doing me just fine since I got it for Christmas in 2006 and any Wii without Gamecube compatibility is significantly inferior any Wii with it.
It takes away compatibility with the previous system as well as a control option for many Wii games.
@Wildvine53 I would most definitely say so.
It'd look pretty stupid if you opened the box and pulled out a blue console, blue Wii Remote and white/black Nunchuck.
@BenAV.
Well said. I think that would be quite the downer!
Oh, it's one of those Wiis.
@BenAV Well I thought it was pretty stupid that they didn't release colored nunchucks when the new remotes were released.
this is sorta late to have all these colors being released.
I beleive that there could be a Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword console. probably would be a gold console with the triforce on it.
@coolvw Now there's a console I'd be slightly annoyed at not having instead of my plain, old white one... But without Gamecube compatibility it'd still be inferior unfortunately.
Kinda late, since the wii u was just announced. And it's lacking in gamecube ports, making it an even lower value.
Doesn't everyone already own a Wii? All the people I know who have one no longer play it.
WTF?! R THEY SERIOUS!?! OMFG WOW!! What a piece of TRASH!! Who thought this was a good idea, who's even gonna buy this crap no one and I mean NO ONE needs another Wii esspecally one that's blue for no reason!
It's called "MARIO & SONIC" not just sonic sega so it's really dumb they made a blue Wii for this game which is also one of the most mediocre mini game collection game ever.
This is just really dumb you sega what would have been a GOOD IDEA maybe even a SMART IDEA would have been making bundle with a blue Wii and SONIC GENERATIONS!! Which is a game you stupidly decided to not make for the Wii even though the sonic fan base on Wii is much higher then it is on PS3 and 360 COMBINED!! What a bunch of morons.
Anyone who was around during the 16-bit console wars think they'd ever see Sonic and the Sega logo on the box for a Nintendo system? The concept is almost like putting up a New York Yankees World Series banner at Fenway Park!
Maybe this is Iwata's way of trying to make some $$ back this year
__Let's take bets on next Wii release I bet a green Wii for a Zelda Collection Pack.. or a pink Wii for the Kirby suite of games! hoorah, gotta buy 'em all.
Hey @Nintenboy, thanks for your insightful post. Loved reading it. Post more, please.
After 5 years, we are finally getting new colours!
Man I was thinking of picking it up cause I really like the Blue coloring but than I read that you wont be able to play Gamecube games on it so that was a deal breaker for me. Guess I will just have to buy a can of spray paint and paint my Wii blue.
Took long enough for different colors. I really like that blue, though. I'd rather have the first model Wii. I don't like it when It's on It's side like that. And no GC ports means no VC Zelda games.
@James looked like he was imitating all of the people that complain about stupid stuff like that.
@James haha
Sweet, but like other aspects of the Wii, I wish they did this earlier.
I was never interested in the Olympic games until I read about the dream events that take place in classic Mario locales (and some Sonic). That screenshot of the gang in the Epic Yarn world might just have sold a copy of this (the game, not the blue Wii).
I can't wait to see what other colors will be announced, and I can't wait to see if anything comes to NA!
Consoles packaged with games are released all the time. Why is this any different?
Hey ! Didn't know the Nineties are coming back ! At this rate it's gonna be like the Game Boy ^^ If so, it would be reaaaally awesome ♪
Other Wii bundles?
Man. Nintendo sure dose like to rainbow things up! I like that. It makes your system different, with its own pazaz. Although, I already have a WII, and a 3DS soooo.........
Not that I'll be buying it anyway, but I think they should have gone for a deeper blue - one that matches Mario and Sonic a bit better.
I wish a third party company would make an adapter for the Wii U and streamlined Wii that includes GC controller ports so you could at least use the GC controllers for GC controller compatible Wii games.
@BenAV true, i totally agree with you. i would like the system's design, but miss the game cube compatibility.
I to wish they did this earlier, crazy to get rid of the game cube. It's a fanstatic colour I Love it, if it's cheap enough I'm tempted by the colour and it looks like a good deal....
That Horizontal "Wii" logo on the system just looks just . . . just wrong.
@Aviator: Sega. James. Hope you understand now
Lack of Gamecube-compatibility aside, this looks really nice.
Hell, I already have two Wiis, and I'm STILL tempted to get this!
Its cute, I suppose this is an lite version?
Mario badminton.
Still sucks that the GameCube functionality is gone.. ahhh.. well..
I'd get this, but I love my Wavebirds so...
Now all we need is the pink one.
@2
the US already has a blue nunchuck.
it is just another trick that Nintendo will try and use but because they announced the wii U I don't think it will get many sales :~}
The lack of GBC support sucks!
This makes the Wii "officially" a toy in my mind. I know since day 1 there are those who have said the Wii was just a toy but that color and price and horizontal placement and dueling mascot box art make this look like one of those $20 Jakks games:
http://www.amazon.com/Toys-Story-Mania-Games-Deluxe/dp/B0039Q5R5A/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1318340140&sr=8-2
It's a cheap impulse toy purchase now. If they are really going to make more colored bundles, well then I guess that's what the Wii has become, it's own cheap knockoff of itself.
Well, its no 'Hello Kitty' Dreamcast or 'this is cool' saturn, but it looks quite neat. Cant really afford to collect these special editition consoles these days though, can only justify buying one to play games, and I already have a Wii.
even though it lacks gamecube support, i'd still get it. i like the blue colour.
I can't help feeling like each one of these 'latecomer' packs sold will be another sale lost for the WiiU next year.
@JimLad I was just thinking the same thing, it's like they're digging they're on grave
No point for me this time because I already bought 4 and sold 2 for double the price to my friends cousin.
I'm trading in my Black Nintendo Wii and paying £40 for the Blue Nintendo Wii.
