It's always nice to see programmers recreate retro gaming in some way or another and Jay Pavlina's 'reinterpretation' of the iconic Super Mario Bros. was easily one of the coolest things we'd seen in a while.
Cesar Enrriquez (cezkid) has taken a slightly different approach as he has steadily been recreating various video game characters from the 8-bit era as spinning sprites. Amongst them are protagonists such as Mega Man, Link and of course, Mario himself.
To check out his creations, head over to his deviantART page and take a browse through his gallery. A recent poll was added where you can vote for the order in which upcoming projects are prioritised.

Whoa! Dude work on the 3DS adaptations!!
That's pretty neat.
Hypnotic @.@
Nicely done, though they look kind of messy at certain angles, especially the Mega Man one.
Thats very impressive, and I agree with realar on using those with the 3DS; it would be neat.
Rather impressive work.
