Rising Star Games has announced that they're lining up Grasshopper Manufacture's No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle for an Old World release on May 28. That's smack-dab in between Sin and Punishment: Successor of the Skies' early May release and Super Mario Galaxy 2's early June date.
Desperate Struggle takes place three years after Travis Touchdown became the top assassin in the United Assassins Association and walked away from it all. After his best friend is murdered, Travis rejoins the UAA on a path for revenge.
Rising Star is absolutely giddy about the release, if managing director Martin Defries is anything to go by:
We're really excited to announce the official European release date No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle. The original became a cult hit on the Wii when it released four years ago and the sequel is set to attract an army of new followers. The inclusion of blood also means No More Heroes 2 will be available in Europe the way the legendary Suda51 intended.
We thought Desperate Struggle was absolutely excellent when it released in February in North America, awarding it a well-deserved 9/10.
Start pinching those pennies.

I hope you guys and gals over in Europe enjoy this game. It is a lot of fun. The mini games for the jobs are a blast ( most of em anyways ).
You had me worried. For a split second there I thought that headine was for a story about how negatively Wii games are selling in Europe or something
I want it; are there any users with inside info at GAME who can confirm if this will be on the shelves? I'd rather use my trade-in credit than save a bit online if possible.
Yesh! I can't wait!
march - red steel 2
april - monster hunter 3: tri
may - no more heroes: desperate struggle
june - super mario galaxy 2
july - metroid: other m
... every month an excellent game!
^ you forgot Sin & Punishment
also, SMG2 is coming out 2 weeks after this... bad move, Rising Star. Should've stuck to the end April release date.
Its been 4 years since No more Heroes 1 released?....what? lol
Can anyone confirm this?
That seems like a very long time.
This is looking good, its release date (sandwiched between Sin and Punishment and Mario Galaxy 2) means I will not be getting it straight away.
I just hope if this does not sell well (and i'm hoping it will) that we don't get the hysteria about the Wii and mature games. The proximity of its release to other big games must be taken into account.
@Sean007s: The events of NMH2 take place three years after those of NMH1, not real-world years (although coincidentally they were released three years apart, 2007 and 2010).
"The inclusion of blood also means No More Heroes 2 will be available in Europe the way the legendary Suda51 intended"
Translation: We should have done this the first time around.
On a serious note, does this mean that only ONE version of the game is now getting released as previous indications had been that a censored and non-censored version were being released. Is this not longer the case? It needs some clarification.
Personally I dind't mind the black smoke and coins in the actual in-game sequences, it was the ludicrously edited boss death scenes that spoiled the experience for me where stuff would just disappear and cleaners would come and sweep up piles of...nothing very much.
^ I agree completely with you, Betagam, especially on the edited boss death scenes. I look 'em up on youtube whenever I play the original.
I can confirm there will only be 1 version. The only person who hinted at 2 was Suda51, who doesn't get to make calls like this about distribution. I'm sure he and Rising Star had already decided to at least release an uncensored version after all the complaints though. I'm glad to say I was one of those complaining.
Complaints are alwayways worthwhile if justified and the complaints about the first game certainly were in my view.
I did wonder whether the "different versions" was actually related more to the different parts of PAL-land the game would be released in as places such as Germany and Australia have often had problems with violence in games and had censored versions released as an alternative to no release at all.
I'll have to look up these uncensored endings on YouTube; to me the European release of No More Heroes was fine and I didn't notice anything amiss, but then I had no point of reference.
@ tealovertoma
Yeah I agree it's a bad move. With the impending release of Super Mario Galaxy 2 I feel that I might be tempted to save my pennies til June instead and get this later - which is a shame, as I enjoyed the original.
