We've just gotten word from independent French development studio GlobZ that they've received a publication date for their upcoming DSiWare game Globulos Party.
Globulos Party is a mini-game collection featuring cute and colourful blobby critters that you guide with the stylus to play a full score of games including billiards, football (soccer) and ice hockey. There are 50 different playfields available and local wireless multiplayer is supported.
Globulos Party will be released on March 1 in North America with the European publication close behind on the 5th. Readers may remember that this game won the prize for best mobile game at the Milthon Festival du Jeu Vidéo in 2009.
We'll let you know our thoughts on the game once it's released. Here is the full press release for your reading enjoyment:
Paris, France, February 23rd, 2010.
The DSiWare™ game Globulos Party will be released on March 1st in the USA and March 5th in Europe by the French, Paris located, indie game developer GlobZ.
Globulos Party includes 20 games: Arena, Football (Soccer), Croquet, Tic-Tac, Darts, Funky Foot, Bomber, Rally, Volley, Sumo, Pinball, Pétanque (Curling), BomberKing, 4-Square, Snooker, Basket, DartsKing, Monster, Rugby (Football) and the Nintendo DSiWare™ version exclusive, Ice Hockey.
The games are playable on 50 different playing fields. On each of them the player has to beat 3 different AI levels (easy, medium, hard) to finish the game (more than 12 hours without losing once!).
The game features also unlimited fun with the 3 multiplayer modes: the DS Download Play, the DS Wireless Play and even a "2 player hotseat" mode on the same Nintendo DSi™ system.
The game has been elected "best game of the year" for handheld consoles by the Milthon.fr Awards jury who particularly appreciated playing the game in multiplayer.
All this for 500 Nintendo DSi Points™!

I'll have to keep an eye on this. I liked the look of it before there was any info, and I like it even more knowing there's download play. It worries me that it's a minigame compilation, but we'll have to see.
On the plus side it seems to use a single play mechanic and puts it into different settings rather than trying to do many unrelated games.
Interesting. I guess I'll just wait for the review.
I played the flash version AAAGES ago and thought it was awesome.. keep the online multiplayer intact and I'm in!
This game looks like fun. I may have to give it a download.
This is interesting.
Looks like fun especially for only 500 Points.
I'm hoping, if there's no WiFi, that there's single player modes with AI controlled enemies. In my group of friends I'm in the minority that plays all the weird things, so it's a bit tough getting my friends to play these kinds of games with me.
