I'm sure some of you have noticed MTV Games' Rock Band franchise has recently teamed up with Pepsi for a new summer promotion across the US. For those who haven't, the promotion is fairly straightforward: look under the cap of specially-marked bottles of Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Pepsi Max and other Pepsi products for a special code, enter it at the Pepsi Rock Band website and go in the running to win, among other things, free Rock Band 2 DLC. All in all, it's a pretty sweet deal, and the deal is made even sweeter for Nintendo owners due to the fact that the free DLC is redeemable as Nintendo Points!
If you happen to be one of the 5,000 lucky winners chosen daily to receive free DLC you'll be sent an e-mail with a code that will allow you access to your prize. For Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 owners this code will award them a free Rock Band 2 song when entered into the Xbox Live Marketplace or Playstation Store respectively. For Wii owners, however, this code will award 200 Nintendo Points to the user's Wii Shop Channel, to be spent on whatever they wish! Better yet, the Points are also redeemable through the DSi Shop Channel, where 200 Points can pay for an entire game or application. Score!
Not every bottle comes with a winning code and not every code guarantees a prize, but at roughly $1.50 a bottle it's a cost-effective (and tasty!) gamble that could very well net you a few neat freebies. Of course, we here at Nintendo Life don't encourage or condone the act of gorging yourselves on caffeinated beverages, but even the worst sugar-induced migraine has to beat actually paying for Final Fantasy IV: The After Years DLC, doesn't it?

I hate Pepsi. I hate Rock Band. Sucks for me (I thought that was funny)
Edit: You sure it's not the second Diego
I'm pretty sure Mountain Dew is one of the other Pepsi products, in case that changes your mind...
Pepsi rocks! My fav is diet Pepsi Max...
I don't play the codes, because you have to register your email so they can fill your inbox with promotional junk No thanks - just how many Pepsi codes do you have to enter to win those 200 points??? Not that it matters; I usually go for the 12-pack cans anyway, cause you can get like 12 cans for the price of 3 or 4 20oz bottles. Whatever happened to the good old days where "1 in 6 wins free coke/pepsi"
I go for 7UP if there's a Pepsi product. 200 points is pretty cheap! I think there would be various point rewards such as 500, 1,000, 1,500 or even 2,000 Nintendo points.
He-he, i'm in Us...
I LOVE pepsi, (I hate rock band)
BUt most of all....
I LOVE FREE VIDEO GAMES!!!
Plus i'll bet people will give out coddes online
Sorry,but I'm on a diet.
I do not have Rock Band 2,but I MIGHT buy it or a Guitar Hero game in the future.
I don't like Pepsi or Rock Band. Sorry.
Plus it's only 200 points. That's a gip imo.
I think you people are missing the point - you don't need to own or even like Rock Band in order to redeem the free Points. Plus, they're only technically giving away Points because Nintendo's shop system doesn't allow them to provide direct downloads as it does for other platforms, so complaining about it not being worth it is a waste of time, especially as a Pepsi + 200 Points is cheaper than buying them outright. Sheesh.
So let me get this straight: You have to pay $1.50 for a slim chance at a 5,000 in 10s of millions chance of getting a $2.00 prize? Even if you win on your first bottle (good luck!) I can't see any way that this is cost-effective.
Now if you happen to drink Pepsi anyway (blech) and win, that's just gravy. But there's no way this should ever convince anyone to buy a Pepsi they wouldn't normally purchase.
I drink (certain) pepsi products (as in mountain dew game fuel), and I own rock band 2. I might just enter the codes for the promotion
I hate Pepsi. Unless I am in the mood for a more watered down version of a classic cola. WASTE OF MONEY
Awesome. Free points is good, especially if I can win via Dew.
And Nintendo's shop system DOES allow direct downloads of games at least. I got my World of Goo via Amazon that way : http://www.amazon.com/World-Online-Game-Code-nintendo-wii/dp/B00213JM9O/
DLC for games though? yeah, that's probably a different story.
Nice. I don't drink Pepsi or have Rock Band, but I might get some Pepsi.
Sweet....free DSi points I might actually have to start drinking Pepsi.
bla Pepsi is way to sweet for my likes
lol i hope its canada 2 so i can add it to my 100 points and go buy the next chapter in the after years
Oh boy, I love Pepsi, and I like Rock Band somewhat.
I don't really care about Rock Band but I like Pepsi and Mountain Dew! It's something that I'm already buying anyway so I guess I'll give this a shot and see what happens!
btw, for those who've commented about Mountain Dew (I'm a zealot myself) you may want to read this excerpt from the site's rules:
"look for Codes under specially-marked bottle caps of 20 oz and 1 liter Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Caffeine Free Pepsi, Caffeine Free Diet Pepsi, Pepsi One, Wild Cherry Pepsi, Wild Cherry Diet Pepsi, Pepsi Max, Diet Pepsi Lime, Pepsi Lime, Diet Pepsi Lemon, Diet Sierra Mist and, in certain participating markets, on specially-marked Pepsi fountain cups available at participating locations"
notice that Mountain Dew isn't present in that list...Not like that will curtail my Dew consumption any, but just so people don't go out intentionally over-buying in rip-off quantities (20 oz. single bottles) just to try to win points that aren't offered on it.
Also curious that Diet Sierra Mist qualifies, but regular Sierra Mist does not....
Hey, even if its only 200 points, that's still pretty neat considering you aren't limited to Rock Band songs.
I've been doing this for the past two weeks. Its awesome! I've won 12/12. Its almost certain that you'll win the song/wii points. $1.50 for a soda I'd buy for lunch anyway plus 200 free Wii points. Thats a deal!
I've known about this forever ago, and have been buying pepsi's since day one, have 35 pepsi points turned into wii points and u win EVERY TIME also, most places have pepsi's for 1.25, and some for evern 1.00 (20 oz btw) so its been paying for all of my DSiWare and a couple of WiiWare and VC
A SHAME THEY DON'T DO THIS IN ENGLAND AS I DRINK PEPSI LIKE IT'S GOING OUT OF STYLE!!! THAT'S HOW I WON MY FREE X-BOX 360 ORIGINALLY....
I found out about this a month ago. I am 90 for 90 on my caps and have made 180.00 in Wii points. I buy a pepsi for 1.00 out of a vending machine. Get a pepsi and 2.00 in Wii points for a 1.00.
Maybe I might get the Wii version of RB2 after all.
I'm thirsty all of a sudden.
best thing ever!
sunddenly want a pepsi!
I like Pepsi. And so far every one of the caps I got gave my bro a free song.
I'm going to have to try this a couple times. I'm exactly 100 points short of Pulseman, and I'm not buying another 1000 points after the 2000 points I bought Saturday for Mario games. Hopefully I can win one, but with my awful luck you never know.
Thanks for letting me know about this!
So far, I've entered 4 codes and won all 4 times. Wish they had these codes on Dew, but beggars can't be choosers...
You always win, there is such a slim chance of losing that I won all 12 times!!!!!
It says canadians aren't eligible but I wonder if I can still find a bottle.
