Refreshing.

I'm sure some of you have noticed MTV Games' Rock Band franchise has recently teamed up with Pepsi for a new summer promotion across the US. For those who haven't, the promotion is fairly straightforward: look under the cap of specially-marked bottles of Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Pepsi Max and other Pepsi products for a special code, enter it at the Pepsi Rock Band website and go in the running to win, among other things, free Rock Band 2 DLC. All in all, it's a pretty sweet deal, and the deal is made even sweeter for Nintendo owners due to the fact that the free DLC is redeemable as Nintendo Points!

If you happen to be one of the 5,000 lucky winners chosen daily to receive free DLC you'll be sent an e-mail with a code that will allow you access to your prize. For Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 owners this code will award them a free Rock Band 2 song when entered into the Xbox Live Marketplace or Playstation Store respectively. For Wii owners, however, this code will award 200 Nintendo Points to the user's Wii Shop Channel, to be spent on whatever they wish! Better yet, the Points are also redeemable through the DSi Shop Channel, where 200 Points can pay for an entire game or application. Score!

Not every bottle comes with a winning code and not every code guarantees a prize, but at roughly $1.50 a bottle it's a cost-effective (and tasty!) gamble that could very well net you a few neat freebies. Of course, we here at Nintendo Life don't encourage or condone the act of gorging yourselves on caffeinated beverages, but even the worst sugar-induced migraine has to beat actually paying for Final Fantasy IV: The After Years DLC, doesn't it?
