Having survived the rather lengthy journey from the midlands and 3 trains later we finally arrived at Sega HQ with just a little time for lunch before getting started with the game, the bit we'd been waiting for!
After a brief but informative introduction to the game we were given the chance to play and explore the different events available in the game, these ranged from the expected set of track and field events through swimming, rowing and even gymnastics.
Our initial impressions were very good, this is obviously a well polished game with every touch of class you'd come to expect from a Nintendo title, who we were told were quite heavily involved in the Sega studio development. Just as we were getting into the swing of things we had a visit from the real Mario & Sonic which of course quickly turned into a fanboy-photo-fest.

Once we'd played through a number of the events in pairs we all entered into a Mini Mario & Sonic Olympic Tournament ™ with a goodie bag up for grabs, sadly myself and Damien crashed out in the first round and left it to the Sonic Stadium guys to clean up and take home the prizes. Well done guys!
To finish up we were given alittle more time to play the game amongst ourselves, checking out the unlockable "Dream" events... but more about those in our full review which should be available by the end of the week.
We'd like to give a huge shout out and thanks to the guys and girls at Sega for giving us a grand day out in the big smoke, it's greatly appreciated, we hope to visit you again soon!
Just to give you a taste of what the day was like, we've uploaded a short clip of the 100m dash:

Heh heh, some of those photos are amazingly funny, yet mildly embrassing at the same time. It was a top day out though, and now that I've visted Sega's HQ it means there's one less item on my 'things I must do before I die' list.
Cool, I would have thought they'd at least have it on bigger TV's and running HD. Looks a cool day out though, invite me aswell next time
Was the game you played like "beta"? Is this game worth getting or should I buy the new Mario Party?
Damo - I want your shirt.
I'm looking forward to the review
Sammy - you can't have it!
I don't think the other guys at the event shared your view, me and Ant stuck out like sore thumbs thanks to our lack of Sonic clothing!
The game was much better than I expected. I assume the version we played was the final thing, it's out next week I believe and is already available in the US, so I'd be very surprised if it was a beta copy.
