In this guide, we'll tell you where to find Punchinello in the post-game, how to defeat him, and what your reward is for taking him down.

Where to find Punchinello in the post-game

You'll need to return to Moleville and travel through the Mole Mines to reach Punchinello. He's right at the end of the dungeon — right where you fought him the first time — so it's a bit of a walk if you choose to take the long way.

Don't forget, you need to have stayed at the Marrymore Hotel suite and spoken to the Frog Sage.

How to defeat Punchinello in the post-game

Recommended party: Mario, Geno, Peach

The first thing to say here — do not attack Punchinello directly. This boss is immune to all attacks for the entire fight, so you're wasting a turn by hitting him.

Instead, you need to attack the Bob-ombs that Punchinello summons. If you time your Action Command button press perfectly, the Bob-omb will turn around and eventually explode on Punchinello, causing a lot of damage. Otherwise, the Bob-ombs will run at you and deal a huge amount of damage, potentially one-shotting your characters.

The only way you can survive a blast is by perfectly timing your blocks, but this can be very tricky to do consistently. Bring Pick Me Ups, and Peach is a must here. The Lazy Shell armor is a necessity for Peach. While it won't defend her from the Bob-omb blasts entirely, it will prevent her from taking extra damage from Punchinello's attacks.

The Bob-ombs are the only thing you need to worry about. You can only turn them around individually (splash damage won't turn the others around, for example), and sometimes you might not even turn all of them around, meaning you'll need to guard and heal up.

Punchinello will attack sometimes, too, but you just need to keep your team's health topped up as much as possible. You'll know you've won when Punchinello summons the big Bob-omb.

Punchinello will see the error of his ways, and after asking to join Bowser's minions, he will make the Wonder Chomp, Bowser's ultimate weapon.
