Super Mario RPG: How To Defeat Valentina & Dodo

Valentina is the cause of all of Nimbus Land and Nimbus Castle's problems, and you need to save everyone from her in Super Mario RPG. You'll be fighting two enemies in this battle, and it has a rather unique gimmick to go along with it, as well.

In this guide, we'll be giving you all the tips you need to defeat Valentina and her loyal servant Dodo.

How to beat Valentina & Dodo

Recommended party: Mario, Bowser, Geno (in this order)

This fight is split into two phases, with the first phase focusing on Dodo alone.

At the start of the battle, Dodo will take the middle character away to fight separately. This is why Bowser should be in the middle slot of the party. Bowser is physically the strongest party member and the most resistant, but you'll definitely need some healing items here, which is why we recommended the detour to Seaside Town!

All you need to do is attack Dodo with Bowser's regular attacks. When you’ve dealt enough damage, Dodo will run off and you'll have to fight Valentina with just your other two party members.

Valentina has access to some annoying spells, so make sure you use Geno Boost with proper timing (when the last indicator disappears) to increase both attack and defense. Ideally, you’d boost up Mario and then attack with physical moves, which will deal tons of damage to Valentina.

When enough damage has been dealt, Bowser and Dodo will return to the battle. Ignore Dodo and keep attacking Valentina, and once you've dealt enough damage, the pair will run away.
