So after making your way through the introductory section of Metroid Prime via the Space Pirate Frigate, you've now found yourself on the surface of Tallon IV, a planet that's both beautiful and deadly in equal measure.
Luckily, then, we're here you guide you through everything. Now that you're in the thick of it, there will be plenty of Scan Entries to pick up, along with upgrades to your Power Suit, Artifacts, Missile Upgrades, and more.
So let's dive right in, shall we?

Scan Entry - Samus' Ship
As you regain control of Samus following the cutscene, you'll find yourself in the Landing Zone, a relatively open area with a total of five doorways leading to various parts of the map (though a few will be inaccessible at this moment in time).
In the direction you're facing as you leave the ship, turn right slightly and you'll see a doorway just a couple of short leaps away - but wait! Before you do anything else, be sure to scan Samus' Ship to add it your logbook. It's important to remember, too, that your ship acts as a Save Point, so be sure to return here if you're in a bind; it will also fully restore your health and ammo.
Okay, done? Good, now head through the aforementioned door.
Scan Entry - Beetle
In the next room, titled Canyon Cavern, two Beetles will emerge from the ground. Scan one of them and then blast them both to smithereens. Head down the short tunnel and through the next door.
Scan Entry - Sap Sac
Ew, Sap Sac sounds gross, right? Well, there's one right in front of you when you enter Tallon Canyon. It looks like a large orange globule hanging from the flora, so scan it and add it to your logbook.
Scan Entry - Zoomer
Walk down a bit further and you'll see a couple of weird, spiked creatures waddling around on platforms. Scan one of these.
Scan Entry - Geemer
Let's get this one while we're here too. Shoot the two Zoomers and jump up onto the platforms. Turn around and you'll see another creature on the platform above. It looks like a Zoomer, but it's red and can't be killed with your Power Beam. For now, scan it and head back down.
Now that you've scanned all three creatures in Tallon Canyon, walk across what looks like a giant half-pipe and go through the door into Transport Tunnel A. There will be a couple of Zoomers prancing around; you can shoot these if you wish, but you're probably best just walking straight past. Head into Transport to Chozo Ruins West and scan the elevator to activate it. Step right in and enjoy the ride up.
We're done with Tallon Overworld for now, but don't worry, we'll be back. Let's head to the Chozo Ruins for now.
