Jump Guardian

For this entry in our full walkthrough for Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, we’ll give you a rundown of how to take down the Jump Guardian boss in Dark Agon Wastes.

The Jump Guardian is the third boss you come across in Metroid Prime 2, located in Dark Agon Wastes. Don’t worry, this is one of the easier bosses you come across on Aether.

The Jump Guardian may not do a lot of damage, but its attacks aim to force you out of the safety of the bubble granted by the light crystal, protecting you from the harsh environment and giving a regenerative buff to your health as you stand in it.

How to defeat Jump Guardian Boss Fight

So, the name of the game is territory management. Utilising your energy cannon and missiles, try your best to strafe around its attacks whilst shooting at the Jump Guardian, but at the same time, try to stay within the safety of the light bubble.

The boss uses pushback beams, which, again, won’t cause much damage, but they do push you back significantly; this can leave you outside of the safety bubble and at the mercy of the toxic atmosphere of the Dark Agon Wastes.

Occasionally, the jump guardian will jump out of your range of fire, gaining an aura that grants it brief invincibility, dodge its push beam attacks it will shoot at you, and be wary of when it jumps down as it will emit a large blast which both pushes and significantly damages you.

Reward for defeating the Jump Guardian

This may seem like a battle of attrition because the Jump Guardian possesses a lot of health, but stay the course and aim true because upon defeating it, you’ll be granted the Space Jump Boots. This suit upgrade makes it so you can double-jump to reach areas previously inaccessible to you.
