Here's Mudd in your eye
Mutant Mudds started out as a 3D polygonal platformer called Maximillian and the Rise of the Mutant Mudds intended as a retail title for the DS. Sadly, this retail release and a pitched DSiWare rendition never got off the ground. Not ones to let a good concept die, Renegade Kid instead decided to morph and move the project...

About The Game
Ready to blast some Mutant Mudds?
Mutant Mudds is an exciting new platform game for the Nintendo 3DS from award-winning developer, Renegade Kid. this marks the company's first self-published title, available exclusively on the Nintendo 3DS eShop in 2011.
Our hero may be a 2D sprite, but he can take advantage of the third dimension by jetting between the background and the foreground playfields in this unique dimensionally-woven platform adventure (the stereo 3D effect looks amazing on the 3DS).
Armed with a heavy-duty water cannon and H2O-powered jet pack, Max steps out onto the porch of his (parents') home; determined to thwart the filthy plans of the Mutant Mudds army by blasting and hovering his way across the soiled landscape.

E3 impressions of Mutant Mudds coming tomorrow.
This looks pretty cool! I'm always up for a good 2D platformer. :3
looks good, reminds me of a mix of Kirby and Mario. hope its not 12 bucks:/
isnt this the game where the dev's held a poll on to keep making it or not?
no unfortunately:/
A very simple looking game...coming (not) soon to your 3DS for 60% more than what its worth...judging by everything else on the eShop. The main character looks like the worst gaming hero ever, and the graphics on him seem to stand out as worse than the environment ._.
Just spent the past week playing this game and it's absolutely amazing! 60% more than it's worth my ass.
this game is not just retro looking, it's ugly. most SNES games from 20 years ago beat the graphics on this one......still, looks aren't everything, and the gameplay does sound interesting and unique.
anything for a retro so ill get it!
It was a release date http://www.gonintendo.com/content/uploads/images/2012_1/mutant.jpg From GoNintendo
A visually beautiful game with great music. It's a little shorter than I would have liked for almost $10, but I have to admit the gameplay feels perfectly refined.
i only have the demo and i luv it hopfully i can get full soon
There is a teaser in the PAL eShop which makes me want it even more! Hurry up June 21st!
I love being american!!! Weve had this since January!!!
In America we have had this for about 5 months...

This game isn't ugly, it's gorgeous! It's not 8-bit like some people seem to think. It's reminiscent of the classic early 90's computer games like Commander Keen. And as anyone who has played Commander Keen will point out, they nailed it =) I'm so excited for the European release!
I grew up on the GBA, so I felt right at home with this one (though technically speaking, the mechanics could have easily been pulled off on even a Gameboy Color). Everything about it screams 16 bit (though technically it's a 12 bit game)...you don't see this type of game quite often today. Even if retro styled games are a dime a dozen. It's still a little overpriced for what it is...but that's to be expected these days.
Just finished the entire game (20 levels + 20 secret levels) and collected all of the diamond thingies. Total playing time clocked in at a little over 7 hours. Not bad. The difficulty really cranks up later in the game, though I think I could have completed the game in a shorter timeframe if not for the many, many clumsy deaths.
I can see how some may consider this game to be a tad expensive considering the lack of variety in gameplay/graphics etc., but it is just so damned charming and addictive that any retro gamer would be sure to love this. I'm so glad that developers are still making games like this without feeling overdone. Well worth the money if you know what you're getting yourself into.
Never doubted you, Renegade Kid. Keep making great games. =)
(and bloody release Dementium II in Australia already!!!) =(
