It's here now. I downloaded the demo before watching Nintendo Direct so it must have released this afternoon.

It was a good game. A few flaws, but good.

The Cave is technically the worst eShop game so far.
Thankfully the story, characters, puzzles and atmosphere outweigh no off-tv play, missing achievements, framerate issues, and glitches.

I wish it would receive an update (other eShop games receive/d updates as well: Puddle, Nano Assault Neo, Trine 2, and soon Chasing Aurora) just to make The Cave even better, but since this is a multiplatform port published by SEGA I have my doubts.
But I still recommend it to all adventure fans just because the experience is worth it.

I hope the other Double Fine adventure comes to Wii U as well.

Really? I'm surprised at that. I thought the only thing that got rating notices in the states was sex and swearing!

Actually, the US rating system can be pretty ridiculous. Brawl was rated T for Cartoon Violence and Crude Humor. And, Halo 4 was rated M for blood and violence.

Why do people point to their wrists when asking for the time, but don't point to their crotch when they ask where the bathroom is?

The difference is that Halo 4 is in First Person and shows blood coming from realistic looking humanoids. Smash Bros. is set in a world with unrealistic people and isn't in first person.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

Hi (my first post here!) =)
I'm loving this game, except I was a bit bummed by the no achievements. I adore Maniac Mansion, and similar stuff so this was a nice treat.

I heard there were achievements and I was excited to unlock them until I realized this is a system thing? Sorry for my ignorance, but the achievements work then for, say, like the iPhone leader board systems? I dont have an Xbox and I'm unfamiliar with the system, so I guess the achievements were not an in-game thing? ;(

Ive "done" a lot of them. Carrying the postcard through right now, d'oh!

The review of this game wasn't that good on NL, neither on polygon. I loved the demo though, do you think they overexaggerated the repetitiveness a bit? I raelly love the narrator btw. Great humor

As for the backtracking, yes, the review is wrong.

You always "jump" from one closed area to the next closed area. These areas aren't very big. Everything you need to solve the puzzles is inside these areas. Backtracking isn't even possible in this game.

As for repetitiveness, yeah, it got repetitive on the 4th and 5th playthrough (for the different endings). But I was speedrunning my 4th under 3 hours and 5th under 2 hours, so it was still somewhat of a challenge, plus with the different combinations of characters I always found new details, solutions, shortcuts.

However I'd replay this game for a 6th time everyday, in 2P or 3P co-op with friends that want to.

I consider buying the game because I really love the humour of the demo. Do you think there will be a sale or an update which allows Off-TV-Play? I don't understand why there is no option for this because you don't need the GamePad and the game is perfect for playing in bed.

I'm hoping there will be an update that addresses framerate issues and bugs myself, but yeah, I can't see a reason for not having off-screen play as well.

Played the demo and it was decent. Disappointed by the lack of real GamePad implementation though. Couldn't they have atleast added Off-TV Play?

Of course man. It's made by the finest people of former Lucas Arts staff. The game's full of charm and style. It's an adventure of a different kind (2D sidescroller with lots of clever puzzles). It's a straight port though, so don't expect any Wii U features/enhancements.
It looks/sounds/runs exactly like the other versions (but without the system specific achievements of PS360).

I know this was last commented on in 2013 but it's the only forum for this game so just wanted to give a heads up that you can't download it on the eshop. Went to try it now as it was on my wishlist and had a few quid to spare and there isn't the option to download it anymore
