[16:44] LztheBlehBird: James doesn't know the rules? For shame!!!
Ugh, screw that. NoA sucks. NoE took their time to properly localize the game, and all NoA does is ship the European version to North America and call it a day.
A limited release at GameStop only is just limiting their sales. That's my point.
First off, it's not the European version because they had to redo the code.
Second, Nintendo is selling it themselves, so it's not really a "limited release"
Yeah, but no one buys games straight from Nintendo's site, because they never sell them. Xenoblade is probably the first game Nintendo is selling directly in a LONG time.
EDIT: I just checked GameStop's preorder page and they list Nintendo of America as the developer. LOL It's Monolith Soft! NoA doesn't even develop games, they're just a publisher and distributor.

Yeah, but hardly anyone buys games straight from Nintendo's site, because they never sell them. Xenoblade is probably the first game Nintendo is selling directly in a LONG time. Most people buy games from Amazon, GameStop, Walmart. Target. Best Buy, etc.
Most people don't give a crap this game is coming out. If this was last Gen when JRPGs were king I would agree. If you aren't Final Fantasy or Kingdom Hearts you don't sell over here.
WAT!

Letter to Nintendo following today's announcement : It's too late now Nintendo, we don't want these stupid new Wii games anymore (Rhythm Heaven/Xenoblade). None of us Americans do. You can keep these and your stupid Ambassador GBA games too. Just abandon support of the Wii and 3DS altogether. Go third party! Hurry and release some freaking iPhone games instead, but not ports of classic games like EarthBound, that's boring... give us some new and original games like Angry Birds, but with Mario characters. I have 99c waiting just for you in my iWallet...make it happen.
What is the meaning of life? That's so easy, the answer is TETRIS.

Then explain why Atlus, Square Enix, Namco, and other publishers keep localizing their RPGs in the US. Clearly there is a market for them, it's just not as big as the shooter genre. RPGs sell, look at the Elder Scrolls series (Skyrim and Oblivion), Persona series, Dragon Age, Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest on the DS, Kingdom Hearts, Tales of [blank], etc.

You are joking right? That was a lame way to troll.

@tendoboy - What exactly is the issue? Are you a stock holder in Nintendo or something? I don't see why you care so much about the companies sales.
Also, you just proved yourself wrong by bringing up Atlus. They bring over niche RPG'S in very small limited runs (exactly what Nintendo is doing now) and have great success with it. So it seems like you are just babbling to hear yourself talk with no logic to what you are saying. :/

Atlus is also a smaller company and its games don't have huge print runs like nintendos. Atlus is selling a niche market that is guaranteed to buy their limited product and ass music CDs as incentives. Selling Xenoblade as a Big gaming release when the mainstream market doesn't care is a mistake.
Look at Mircosoft. They released Two RPGs by Hironobu Sakaguchi and a soundtrack by Nobuo Uematsu and they were both commercial failures.
I all Honestly with the expection of a few Devs (Square/Namco/Monolith) most JRPG devs should be looking to digital releases in the west, That and Handhelds are the future for the genre.
WAT!

What the heck are you talking about? This isn't a big gaming release if it's limited to two options for purchase. Also, who among the mainstream doesn't care? Do you have some proven statistics to show this?

One you just named marquee titles. JRPGs aren't as popular as they once were.;
Skyrim- Not a JRPG Oblivion-Not a JRPG Final Fantasy -well known brand Dragon quest- Dragon quest is the most popular franchise in japan and through money hats nintendo got it on their popular system. (search dragon quest X stock crash)
Mario - it has mario its going to sale Dragon Age- Not a JRPG and the 2nd game is on shakey frounds Persona- Not popular at all. Small limited runs.
WAT!

@ tendoboy - Are you trying to say that every single game in the RPG genre is equal in popularity and they will just fly of the shelves regardless of name or who made them? Really? Really!? Please tell me you are not that dense and/or naive.

I meant to quote shingi_70, who said RPGs don't sell. There is a market for them, look at Skyrim, Oblivion, Dragon Age, Final Fantasy and it's spin-offs, etc.

I don't care if it's Japanese or not. An RPG is an RPG. The market for RPG's is not as big as shooters, but it's still there. Skyrim got rave reviews and is selling well.

Did you read my post. I said selling Xenoblade as a big release would be a mistake and that's why nintendo isn't doing it.
Look at JRPGs this gen. Blue Dragon and Lost odyssey would have been killer sellers during the ps2 era.

Yet Nintendo and Square Enix took a chance and released several Dragon Quest games on the DS, and they sold well. Capcom did the same with Monster Hunter Tri and it sold well on the Wii. If there isn't a market for RPG's, then why did Nintendo, SE, and Capcom all take chances with their games and had success?

I did and noted the part where you didn't say "Nintendo isn't doing it"
I dunno, it's hard to say if JRPGs have lost popularity lately. I have never known them to be big sellers outside of Final Fantasy and other big series
