I want Muramasa: The Demon Blade, but I wonder if it will get a price drop after the initial release. I got No More Heroes for $30 and would love to get the same deal for it. Does anyone have an opinion on how long it will be before a price drop, or even if there will be a price drop. OR should it be bought at full price to support that kind of game on the Wii? Opinions...
I think it largely depends upon how well the game sells and whether or not the publisher has any arrangement with retailers regarding price.
I can remember House of the Dead Overkill getting a special promotional price drop in GAME stores a week after release and then going up again. A lot of core Nintendo titles haven't dropped price at all or took a very long time to drop price (Wii Music).
Frankly I hope the game does great business and holds price just because Marvelous Entertainment's support for the Wii and willingness to do overseas releases of games will depend heavily upon how well titles like this sell. If no one buys it and the price drops early then that could well mean a smaller release schedule for them in the future or less chance of their games getting localised. If there's a game I'm certain to enjoy and want to support then I pre-order (if the price isn't too out of control -- £29.99 is my functional ceiling).
It'll probably depend on how it sells. Obviously it's not getting a price drop now, since it just came out just a few days ago. If it manages to sell as badly as Madworld or Klonoa, it will probably only be a matter of time before it's price gets cut. Otherwsie, you might have to wait a little while.
