Jett Rocket has an update, too. Don't know what it's good for.

I have a couple questions about the Cave Story patch.
How do I get the new version? Do I just download it off the wii channel again? Is it free, since I already have the original? Will my original save file be deleted if I download the new version?

Just redownload it. It's always free as long as you already paid for the game. Your original save file should be fine.

I know one game that needs a patch badly. Dive: the Medes Island secret has bugs in it that prevents you from collecting all the hidden items. There are invisible walls in areas that are blocking you from getting the items. Without a patch you'll never be able to get all the secrets. It seems the makers of the game don't care to fix it sadly. Pretty Lazy of them.

I just got done redownloading the game, and it didn't cost anything, but it did delete my game file, as I had to delete my current file in order to redownload the new version. Not a huge deal, and it gives me a reason to beat it again!
The title screen is much improved, and now you can't play all the modes from the get go (I like that as well), but the volume of the music and sound effects has been decreased dramatically. I had to turn up the volume 2x as loud as I normally do, in order to actually hear the music. Not a huge deal, but it might be to some people who don't have a nice television or sound system.

Yeah there were some sound issues before the update. The volume of the sound effects was set way too high and the noise was almost defening to the ears. That's why they lowered it. I'm not sure why you lost your games save data. Mine was still there when I updated but whatever. At least you have a much less glitchy version now.
