They will never win over homebrew. Just accept the facts. I want a dsi update with a sd card menu.

For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday. [url=http://www.backloggery.com/jumpmad]Unive...
I can confirm this update wipes your homebrew. I usually wait a bit before installing updates so the HBC boys can update a work-around, but this time i just installed it without thinking and POOF, my HBC (which i've had installed since the days of the Twilight hack) is gone from the Home Menu. D'oh.
I love the "improves system performance" pitch they're using. As near as I can tell thus far, the system performance is identical. It was just another ploy to try and remove the Homebrew Channel's. If Nintendo doesn't want people using the Homebrew Channel, they should try releasing more than 1 Virtual Console game a month. Idiots.
Why do you guys expect so much from these small updates? If they are going to add something big, don't you think it would be 5.0?
Seriously. Most of the posts on here are "what a waste of time, stupid, ridiculous, pointless update. Nintendo hates us because this update didn't come with free pizza" You know...you don't have to install the update. There. I just saved you 2 minutes, and countless more spent complaining about the worthlessness of the update.
I'm ok with Nintendo doing this. They are trying to protect their console (ok, their profits) from people who don't have the ethics to avoid piracy. It's probably a losing battle because of how the Wii is designed, but from a business standpoint they need to either keep throwing occasional updates or just abandon the console... and I'm not particularly thrilled with the second option since I've invested a lot into Wii gaming.
As for people complaining, it seems like an over-developed sense of entitlement. Nintendo doesn't owe you anything and the update is optional. If you don't want it, don't install it - case closed!

Nearly every single piece of software you get for your computer, your ipod, etc. get "performance updates" that don't seem like they do anything. I don't see what all the complaining is about. (Unless you have homebrew, but then you knew no matter what else the firmware upgrade did it would block that, didn't you?)
I am way too lazy to think of something clever. My Backloggery
