Modernized version of the SNES??? Dies and goes to video game heaven with a smile on his face. Someone pinch me really, REALLY hard so I can feel pain and know this isn't just a dream!

While I'm still going to take any rumors about Nintendo's next console with mountainous piles of salt, I do like the name "Stream". I just hope the whole internet doesn't get infested with jokes about Nintendo's Stream (think about it for a while and you'll eventually get it).

All I need to know is when the Wii will be officially dead, so I can catch up on what few good games I missed.

Honestly, part of me thinks they used the Family Guy Manitees way before making this.

Googled a bit, and apparently the graphics card IGN is saying it'll use is the fastest graphics card on the planet. I'm down with that.

$400 is a tough sell though, especially when the controllers sound like they're going to cost at least 100 bucks... Each. :/

Alot of people are saying this isn't all that special, because it's based on 2008 tech. (Yes still more powerful than PS3/XB3, but if you're talking about future proofing your system in graphical power....)

They said a revamped version of the R700...It would be pretty epic to just see how modified it really is.

May wind up eating crow, but at this point I think there's just been too much info come out in the last few days for a new system to be simply rumor. If it were from a couple of sources, then I'd be skeptical. But there's been almost a flood of info lately. Too much for it ALL to have been simply made up. The Super Wiintendo is real, IMO. Just a matter of when they reveal it (hopefully ASAP). Now, excuse me while I resume screaming like a tween girl at a Justin Bieber concert.

EDIT: Just thought of something that backs up the "Project Cafe" and "Nintendo Steam" names. Cafes serve coffee. And steam rises from a cup of hot, freshly poured coffee.

Part of me is thinking Nintendo likes having this third pillar stuff. DS was the third pillar alongside Game Boy and Gamecube when it launched. Game Boy has been forgotten about (shocking, but true,) so the new console will be the third pillar alongside Wii and 3DS. 3DS is the portable, Wii is for the casuals, next-gen console is for the core gamers.

It did sound like a back door in case DS failed, but for a time, they had a third pillar.

The key here is if it will powerful enough to remain within the realm of portability with PS4720 games. What do you think based on everything we're heard, specifically from IGN?

IGN seems to be ramping this up somewhat. Perhaps they need to increase their stats for this quarter or something.

What rumored specs are you looking at? If the Wii is a "casual" console for being at Xbox level specs then surely the "Wii2" isn't casual given it's rumored to be well above 360/PS3 specs. Even if Sony and Microsoft release higher spec consoles later, highly likely, what more do you really want? Are we not hitting a wall in terms of visuals?

I'm still highly skeptical but....... it doesn't seems as sus as it did when I saw it yesterday. Some of the more recent reports seem to be agreeing with this so either it's a conspiracy, the rumors are all based on this, the people who made this are very good or this is legit.

The "easy portability from PC, 360, PS3" for the SDK makes the most sense. Probably the biggest weakness of the Wii isn't so much it's lack of power, which is true, but more that because of it's lack of power developers can't easily use it for cross-platform games. This generation has REALLY been about two consoles: The Wii and the PC/PS3/360. If Nintendo can capture the cross platform games AND the family/casual games (either on the Wii Successor or on the Wii) AND major Nintendo games then they give themselves a huge advantage. This is also why 360, PS3 and PC games are pretty much identical, when you compare games across platforms, and I'd expect the games ported to Nintendo's console, and expect a lot, to be similar again.

The question after that is........ will Sony and MS try to beat them again with power? Do people still want more power? Will Sony and MS try to capture the mass market through Kinect and PS Move and hope the cross platform games stay with their consoles for a while?
