Ok, now I have a Sony 7.1 Receiver and it says that it can support Dolby Pro Logic II which most Wii games support yet I just can't seem to get it to work. I'm using a 5.1 set up, and I can't get my Surround Speakers or my Center Speaker to work with the Wii. My Subwoofer and Front speakers work, but that's it. Yet my PS3 is hooked up via Optical and all of my speakers work perfectly. What's the deal?

How are you testing it? I thought I had this problem when setting up my 5.1, everything seemed to just come out of the left and right speakers, nothing from the centre or back ones. It wasn't until I was into a game of No More Heroes and I suddenly heard a missle fly past behind my head that I realised they were actually working. None of the menu sounds come out of the surround speakers, and neither it seems do a lot of in-game sounds.

the only thing I can recommend is to make sure you have a game that supports it, then from the wii menu click the wii icon in the lower left corner, then wii settings, sound, surround, confirm. After that, it is about configuring your speaker system.

Super Mario Galaxy supports DPLII, and i have Surround selected in the Wii Menu and I'm just getting sound from the 2 front speakers. Maybe I have to go into my Receivers option somehow and select DPLII?

yes, your receiver should have a remote right? If it does not have one (get one) look on the receiver itself for it, as it should be easier to find. Look on there for an option that says something like "mode" and press it until it says DPLII or something similar depending on your specific model's display. Basically, if you tell it for dolby, it will go dolby, but if you tell it to do THX certified stuff for example(if it supports it) then it will only do that, as they are all their own proprietary language. If beyond that you have further trouble, locate the model number, and enter it here. http://esupport.sony.com/perl/select-system.pl?&ref=http%... That is Sony's online help FAQ and service line

Awesome, I just figured it out. I had to press the Movie or Music button on my Receiver Remote since I had it set to 2Channels It's working great now hehe. The entire room is blasting with Galaxy tunes. It's almost like I'm earing sounds I've never heard before, but that's only if I'm comparing it to a typical TV stereo only set up. I always use my high End headphones for the Wii which sound amazing, but now I think I'll be using my 5.1 Set up instead especially when friends come over obviously.

Awesomeness! Have fun then with everything, and should you get bored with your surround sound, give me a message, as I would gladly take it off your hands (I've never had one, but I have installed a few for friends, as I am the "Tech friend" a.k.a. free geek squad)

lol thanks.
and wow, I'm just amazed by the surround sound just by playing galaxy alone. I mean I'm so used to getting 2.1 from my headphones which I always use, yet playing Galaxy with 5.1 is amazing....I just need to upgrade my SubWoofer, install the speakers on my Walls, cover up the cords so they're not visable and I'm good to go

want someone to do that for you? I promise that nothing will go missing. and my fingers are not crossed...nope.....not at all (edit: on a serious note, make sure to get insulating covers for your wires, and keep them flush to either your ceiling, or floor and to have clean straight lines going to everything. You will thank yourself later)
